Coolest sound language ever
Oh dear! I used to learn Japanese with Kiyo Sensai. I didn't know she speaks Welsh so fluently. 先生,すごいですね!(Unfornately I have forgotten a lot of Japanese) Dw i'n dysgu Cymraeg hefyd! But my Welsh is too poor to understand her.
Dw i'n caru Cymraeg. Dw i'n dysgu Cymraeg nawr. Yn anffodus, dw i ddim yn gallu deall y fideo eto, dim ond deall rhai geiriau. Ond gobeithio bydda i'n deall y fideo yn well yn y dyfodol. (I hope it makes sense. Dw i'n ymarfer.) Welsh is such a beautiful language. I have fallen in love with it. As an international student here, actually learning Welsh didn't cross my mind until this year. Because my English is still a problem. But gradually, I realised that I needed to learn the language of the land. I just don't want to be an ignorant foreigner. So I started learning. And I'm sure it's one of the best things I did this year. I really enjoyed it. Cardiff University has a Welsh for All course for all the students! Why not have a try? Even a few words will be fantastic!
Can I say that one of the best things I did in Cardiff was learning Welsh? I'm just a beginner, but I really love learning it. It's a pity Cardiff is not really a Welsh-speaking city. I really hope more people learn Welsh and speak Welsh here.
That's just jibberish
I think you mean "gibberish" - shame you can't spell in English when criticising another language 😉

It's a strange thing that the Welsh call themselves "Welsh" when speaking English. Doesn't it come from an Anglo-Saxon word that means literally "not us"? Should just bring the Welsh word for it over to English -- it means pretty much the exact opposite if I remember right. "Companions" or "countrymen".
In English it means foreigner and is derogatory. They call themselves Cymry and so should you. If anything the English are the Tramorwyr.

My Welsh isn't really good enough to follow but from what I can understand, this is super interesting. I'm interested particularly in what he's saying about methodologies surrounding class towards the end of the video: can someone please explain how he defines 'working class' in this context? I'm asking in part for myself. I consider myself Welsh and European but not British, but that makes me an exception in a part of the country which overwhelmingly speaks English and supported Brexit (Caerphilly). I'm not really sure if I'd be considered working class or middle class for the purposes of this research.

You know , it wouldn't hurt to add subtitles for us ,less fortunate, to actually understand what's going on.
I always thought Welsh looked like the result of a cat walking across a keyboard. Hearing it with subtitles like this, it actually makes sense it's like that. I'm Polish so I probably can't complain about odd choices for writing your language.
Beautiful elf 🧝♂️ language. Glad you’re speaking your language - regards from Norway
It sounds a lot farther from English than the Germanic Languages do,friends.Germanic Languages are of course German,Dutch,Frisian,Afrikaans, and the Scandinavian Languages such as Danish,Swedish,Nowegian,Faeroese, and Icelandic.
English is a Germanic language as well
Sounds like Valyrian
This sounded so good that I was about to believe Welsh is a fictional language

Does the Wales language have any connection with the elvish language from J.R.R.Tolkien's lord of the rings?
Off Course
Tolkien loved Welsh; he owned a much annotated copy of 'The Mabinogion' and based Sindarin on the Welsh language (much like Quenya is based on Finnish).
Literally sounds like a fictional language lol, Welsh is so nice

An abbreviation of Gymdeithas Gymraeg, I guess it means Welsh language society 🤷🏽♀️

Diddorol iawn. Diolch :)
Wow, only one word did I understand, Croeso… welcome. I have yet to get beyond the basics of Welsh, but am making some, albeit slow, progress. Thank you for the slow clear way you spoke. It is a poem, I assume. I love the sound of it. Da diolch!

Yea guys look, we've been getting complaints from the letter Y. Seems you guys are abusing it? Just throwing 10 of them in every other word, is no bueno!!! Also, there are more than just 5 letters in the alphabet, you know!! Try spreading out their use?
..eedjit😂😂😂
If you'd research the language you'd know that they don't constantly throw the letter "Y"
@@childrenofthesun471 Then why is the letter "L" getting jealous?
Good evidence that every ugly gene I have come from my 2% Welsh
If you want this video to help people learn Gymraeg, you should make good subtitles both in Gymraeg and in English. Without subtitles it's almost useless.
Dysgu Cymraeg (Learn Welsh) and it won't be useless. Hwyl!👍🏴
So sick of foreigners being forced down our throats and sick of giant paintings of Africans on our buildings saying my city my cymru. No its not it's our city and our cymru. It's disgustingly racist. We are being colonised and you are promoting it..
I hope there are (or will be some day) people in Wales who speak Welsh all the time and English is only one of the foreign languages they happen to know.
카디프, 웨일즈

The Welsh are notorious for overwhelming their opponents with a barrage of syllables.
Mate have you heard Spanish?? That's the definition of overwhelming people with a barrage of syllables 😵
I am from a Kerala (Malayalam ) context. For some reason I liked the feel of it.
Sounds like a magical language.
Certainly sounds more complete than the other Brittonic languages I've listened to (i.e. Breton and Cornish). Everyone in the video speaks in such a unique rhythm so fluently, and without what I'd think is an accent influenced by another language. I love how it sounds. Now add subtitles in Tengwar.
Cornish is a revived language, extinct in the 18th century. I guess that 100% Breton speakers use French as their first language, therefore they aren't able to roll their R's.
I think it is not so much about a rolling r, but nasal sounds are already present in nowadays „standard breton“ and they are strengthened by the French accent of 2nd language speakers. There are areas where the spoken Breton (as a mother tongue) does not sound French at all, but not many, I believe. There are also sound samples on UA-cam:
@@caitlana11yes the true Breton doesn't sound French at all
the tone of the Celtic languages is reminiscent of an ancient ancestral language not contaminated by Latin, although the ancient Celtic languages and Latin were similar...Greetings from Italy
Welsh is actually quite a bit latin in content, about one-quarter to a third roughly. e.g. Prifysgol = "Primus-schola". It even has very pure Latin pronounciations contained within it linguistically, e.g. "calch" = calcium, calcio displaying a hard K-like Roman C sound, as opposed to the ch/sh sounds in Italian "calcio" or Norman/French "chalque = chalk"
