I agree on all points. Unc and pitt should always be on the schedule, miami late is great. Cold-ish weather for the game vs the boys from south beach. Im optimistic about the DC, maybe high risk but definitely seems to be more upside.

Gotta love seven home games. And one of four true road games is at Scott Stadium. Catching NC State early is nice, and let's hope FSU stays down. GT, LOU and Miami are the key ones. SC will be an interesting test out of the gate, and Pavia need some payback. Let's go Hokies!

Sam! Pete, Rob. Good breakdown of this hire. To steal one of the best VT QB quotes, scared money don't make money. Pry is breaking his mold in this hire in an act of desperation, and it's honestly the best chance he has at regaining success. Other than stealing a bunch of Brinks trucks and paying Golden or Knowles $4M/year, he had to go find a diamond in the rough. Good point (I think Rob or Sam) that the only known commodities VT could have feasibly hired would be a commodity known to have bad defenses (like Bateman or Guerrieri) or lack the playcalling experience (Dex or TGray). That would have been a hire for the fanbase, but Pry needed to hire to save his HC position (not too dissimilar of a situation with Clark Lea at Vandy, but a different approach). At least, if he's going down, he's going down with all his chips on black. VT now has four experienced DCs on staff, which could either be a recipe for success or disaster, depending on whether there are too many cooks butting heads or an ensemble of chefs able to a meld into the defense into a Michelin star meal. I am worried that a new defensive scheme will take too long to teach and implement, but with 40% new roster, it probably is a negligible issue. Based on his time at Wofford and in the NFL, it seems that DC Sam has an ability to quickly implement and adapt successful defenses (which is critical in this era of roster turnover). And interesting point about moneyballing into an unconventional defensive scheme that could give VT an edge in portal recruiting by zigging while the blue bloods zag. VT will never be PSU 2.0. They need to invent the future like Beamer and Bud did in the late 90s. At a minimum, it will be interesting to learn and follow a new defensive scheme and to see how this all works out for Pry and our Hokies. Keep up the good work. Hope to see more podcasts in the offseason.

I really like this hire alot. With Poindexter as you guys pointed out he has already been passed over 2 or 3 times now and seems to be ok with not being the man. This guy wanted this job. He is young he is obviously talented to at 31 have had a NFL coaching job of any kind but the best part is unlike Poindexter he wants to grow as a coach and is not afraid to bet on himself. Hokies are all about doing more with less. We built our brand off of 3*s kicking 5*s asses. I'm all for seeing what this guy is all about. At the lower level his defenses have always been nasty as hell.

I think it's a challenge to find a proven coordinator who's in prime if his career to take on a job where the head coach will likely be gone after following season. VT will win fewer than 6 games in 2025. Depends on Vandy game.

Most football games at this level are close. Brent Pry and his staff need to learn how to win in close games, and we have not done that in his tenure. When we win, we win big. When we lose, it usually is because of poor clock management and the lack of a reliable offensive scheme that can produce a two-minute drill drive down the field of intermediate pass plays.

I think where expectations got Outta Whack (at least in my case) was anticipating seeing a seasoned roster display physical dominance and having the ability to out-talent opponents despite any mistakes arising from execution and coaching. It was apparent by the opening series of Game 1 vs Vandy that was certainly not the case, so on point execution and coaching were absolutely necessary to maximize the Wins total.

I'm indifferent about the LED lights but the seatbacks were a terrible addition. Your freedom of movement in a capacity crowd and even if you don't have people around you is pretty restricting. I couldn't jump.. I wanted to JUMP AND I COULDN'T ACTUALLY' JUMP!

Overall for me the season was a huge let down! I got my hopes up just to be let down over an over I’m so glad it’s in the past and hopefully we can learn from it and grow from it!! Let’s give em hell next season and dish out some payback!!! I’m looking forward to getting some revenge big time !!!!!

Not to bitch about the refs but I gotta bitch about the refs.. we were at this game 50 yardline seats those 2 no calls were DEFINITELY pass interference! If memory serves me we were up 7 to 0 and that pass to Wiggens would have gave us 1st down on at least the 30 yardline.. that more than likely would have been no less than 10 to 0 and then who knows how the game turns out.. those refs were complete trash

Zero. Don’t think there was a dominant team this year like Georgia has been the last couple. Ohio St has looked the best the last 2 games, but wouldn’t be shocked at any of the outcomes.

Remember there's a spring portal window. Don't know what our strategy is for that period, but there's still time even if we don't have all the answers in the winter

Left ""Paradice for Greener pastures""...!!! So, where is all the ""Team"" Where's the "I see Improvement" the "I like what I'm seeing", the ""we're almost there" all the bullshyte lines Pry uses on a daily basis. Va Tech staff eat it up, they love his vision to nowhere. Except his trips to the bank. They forget he was supposed to turn our program around. Not Destroy it. And make no mistake he has destroyed it. As of now his ""Glorious Record ""at Tech is #16 wins @ #20 losses. There is no ""Team"" they all left . And next year we will be way worse than this year. Who hires a Head Coach with absolutely no experience whatsoever??????????? Who does that????????? Who gives a coach with a # 3-7 season a raise and bonus ?????????? Who keeps a Coach with a #3 year record with #16 wins and # 20 losses. Name #1 college football team that has ever done that, name just #1. Something is wrong up in the offices at Va. Tech. Went to the game and had great seats..Tyler Mason looked great, Aiden Green and Brody Adam's looked great as well..loved seeing Emmett Laws out there and Aycen Stevens.. I think Aycen is gonna be a force off that edge next year.. but the best part of the whole game was seeing Pry give those officials hell for those missed calls!! Got a 15 yder for it but so what loved seeing that fire
