Талантливый музыкант, певец,,но его не красит что он разругался с братом и членами группы,проклятые деньги,,развалили шедевр и талант группы Кридэнс,,а правительство Америки не поддержало их, очень жаль что их уже нет,,!!

The song was transformative and ahead of its time in my opinion. It was prescient for its time, predicting the fluidity of gender roles to arise in the decade of the 70s. This is a great rendition.

IHello everyone! My sister told me about this video and also this discussion. We both just wanted to set the record straight. The man playing the piano is our Uncle Gordon John Edwards who was a very talented musician (piano/keyboard, guitar), song writer and singer. Unfortunately he has died but NOT of AIDS and not of a Drugs overdose. He died in 2003 aged 55. He committed suicide. A violent end to a very talented man who struggled with drug addiction to heroin, and later alcoholism, from the early 80s onwards. Uncle Gordon also suffered from Depression most of his life. Something that he kept hidden from his immediate family, and possibly his close friends, while masking his pain through drugs and alcohol. It was only in the late 90s that Uncle Gordon sought out help for his Depressions. He even got clean for a while. Although alcohol soon had it in his grip again. As far as I know Uncle Gordon stopped making music or playing in bands when the Drugs and Drink took hold of him in the early 80s. So sad that Uncle Gordon never did reach his full potential. However at least we have his achievements of the 60s and 70s to look back on with pride That is why seeing this Video of my Uncle Gordon in this video is a comfort. It reminds me of how he looked and what a great talent he had before the drugs and drink took hold of him. He looks so happy and so sweet. Unassuming. I wish I could give him a hug. Tell him that I am sorry. I just never knew how much he was in pain. I only saw the drugs and lived through all the family rows! But in 1978 I was 14 and so proud to have an Uncle who was a Pop Star. THE KINKS! How cool was that! I stand corrected by my younger sister, Melanie. Uncle Gordon was A Rock Star and NOT a Pop Star!!

He's been a celebrated pop icon his entire adult life - even now, as he nears his septuagenarian decade. That's going to be 6 decades of relevance and fame, putting him in the ranks of John Wayne or Betty Davis, Stravinsky or Picasso, Winston Churchill or Ronald Reagan. Weird.

@Desmond4956 From what I remember he was still in litigation with his brother and the band, the reason he did play CCR music, was that it was a benefit and he was not being paid.
