Unbelievable Features of the FIRE BOSS Aircraft. Detailed Pilot Tour
Used to work at the old factory on the north east of the air port, Rolling Hills Helicopters location is now part of Robinsons parking lot, Frank was a good friend and always enjoyed his personal tours. Is Doug Tomkins still there? (test pilot)
I’m not sure who is still at the Robinson factory, but if you check out the video you can see who I interviewed. Didn’t really really meet anyone on that.
I believe they're working on bringing the noise level down for this aircraft.
What an awesome machine and Paul is an absolutely fantastic guy. Great interview
He is a great guy and amazing pilot. Glad you enjoyed the interview. Thanks for watching.
Its the Fastest and LOUDEST turboprop 😂 the Noise is extreme… i have no answer how this thing can pass trough the noise regulations
Cockpit systems looks awesome.
What an awesome machine , Id love to see the flying display! I’ll be keeping an eye out for where it will be .
Hunter Valley Airshow… Feb 2025. Thanks again for watching.
Great interview as always
Thanks again… Paul always has something interesting to share.
Its propably the ugliest cockpit ive ever seen
@@gamershd3020 Easier to fly though.
What happens if the electrics fail? Also, if i dont have oedals, how am i gonna rotate?
@@r.wallaby6490 Check out the whole video on my YT Channel… he explains the working of the cockpit there. Thanks for watching.
I love Combi vans😍😍😍😍
Flying isn't a video game... Multiple point failures. Going from simple to "No user servicable parts inside" Double the price and retard pilot proficiency in one shot... No STC is worth the price of a well trained pilot.
Gee, maybe we should go back to paper charts, and get rid of tcas and gpws, etc., while we are at it.
@@cogitoergospud1 Great Idea! Paper charts require no batteries Eyes outside is good too. And pilots who actively pilot the aircraft? Outstanding! Frank Robinson wanted less distractions when he designed the R-22 & R-44. Have you ever met Frank?
Haven’t met him, but I did get a tour of the factory. Here is the YT video of it: Robinson Helicopter Factory. ua-cam.com/video/ZteQ_FfxqKU/v-deo.html
@@BeSnappy Frank was a good friend. Knew him in the old factory and later when I flew his helicopters back for overhaul. He preferred the the bare bones cockpit. When His son took over that changed. He loved giving tours - A proud Papa of his ideas come to life.
Thank you BeSnappy ❤❤❤ ur videos
@@yellowbiker7286 Thanks for watching!
Wow
@@devengudinas1649 that’s what I think too. This is a serious upgrade to the R66 cockpit. Thanks for watching.
I work in the cabin assembly. Thanks for visiting the factory. More to come in the future. 😉 wink 😉
I really enjoyed the tour of your factory! You work for an amazing company.

Cool! Might see you there.
It was on the weekend just gone. I posted this last week.

The Taree airshow was amazing though Glenn Collin’s came up to me arfter his first flight in the show and wanted to shake my hand, are you going to the hunter valley airshow 2025?
Definitely going to the Hunter Valley Airshow. I hope to interview Glenn Collins soon. Did interviews with Paul & Jett Bennet and also Glenn Graham. They will be only my YT channel this month. Hope you get a chance to watch those too. Thanks for watching.
are you now your getting in to trucks thank u

I'll see ya down there, I saw all the planes there yesterday, can't wait to see the P-51 flying around

hope to see you there 🔥🔥💪💪
That's a pretty interesting design
@@Australian_Kid it allows them more space in the back of the aircraft apparently. Full interview on my channel. Thanks for watching.
One of these float planes converted to electric in Alaska crashed and killed everyone when the battery ran out of power
Neat aircraft, surprisingly large inside.
Looks like Titan aircraft is done website is no longer working. I suspected his kids had very little to do with his aviation business. I feel bad for the customers who had deposits hopefully someone will buy the designs and plans. I always wanted one of these I even met him at an small air show years ago. Hopefully his dreams don't die with him.
@@Mike-01234 thanks for your comment, Mike. Hopefully we will hear from Ryan who is in this video with me, I would say that he might know what’s happening with the business. Totally agree, hopefully the business continues. Thanks for watching my video.
👍🏻
Go Harbour Air! Ignoring all the naysayers and armchair experts.
Clik bait. LOL, a commercial plane that can not carry passengers. Just wait for the lithium battery to catch fire in the salt water environment. This is a first with no future. Just a waste of money and defacing a classic Beaver.
She does mention in the interview I did with her in this video that they have 10 of them. Hopefully there are some lighter batteries around the corner they can use. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds, and I will do an updated video on this in a year or so. Thanks for watching.
Look at this floatplane video I published on the weekend. This could be more up your alley. Two Rotax engines working independently of each other which leaves almost 0 chance of a dual engine failure. Very interesting Aircraft for safety. ua-cam.com/video/DSP5T5mhL64/v-deo.html
They have 10 Beavers with conventional engines, piston, and turbo prop.
You probably were against it when they started putting PT6 engines on them.....or adding more cargo space, or wing mods,......glass dashes....Bring back coal and steam mindset.
Not exactly affordable for the everyday person, especially in this economy. Still, it sounds like a fun and efficient aircraft.
These are really good. The length is right, and the information is what I actually want to know! I hope he doesn’t lose this ability as he gets older.
@@hisheroship they really are good Aircraft. If you look at the overall picture of these aircraft they are safe, can land on land or water which helps if there was an engine failure… but it is unlikely with this Aircraft because of the engines running independently of each other. Thanks for watching.
Don't worry successors are already in place.
It’s amazing how many independent manufacturers are out there making unique aircraft like this!
@@tdub5899 so true! There is something about this Aircraft that is very attractive because you wouldn’t be spending half of your time wondering where you’re going to land in the event of an engine failure, because it is so unlikely to happen. I think you could enjoy the flying, fly slow if need be and land just about anywhere because it also has a very short field takeoff distance due to the power of the two motors. Thanks again for watching my videos!
"There's a sucker born every minute." P.T. Barnum." Never give a sucker an even break." W. C. Fields.
??????
Range is greatly diminished, making a Beaver into a very short-haul, expensive local area taxi service with delayed turn-around time to recharge the batteries. Too much cabin/cargo space is required for batteries reducing revenue. Current battery technology being what it is, electricly powered aircraft are more of a science project than practical.
Those were the old days, now they are born about every 15 seconds.
Erm... A Chinese owned floatplane Operator. Get that part right.
Weight! Does that not mean less people and baggage!
Hope it comes with a parachute
This is cool!!
There's a reason it's the first one. The rest of us are smart enough to know.
@@only_visiting she does mention in the interview that they have 10 of them. This would be a significant investment so it sounds like they are confident, but no passengers until 2027… so hopefully there might be some lighter batteries by then.
It is not the first Beaver that Greg from Harbour has done...electric!
Another Canadian aviation first.
I'm a eagle 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
You could still get triple quadruple five times the endurance with hydrogen fuel cell. I don't know why they waste their time with batteries
Great insight into HA's electric beavers. I'd argue this isn't a "huge electric airplane." It's a modified DHC-2 Beaver which is not a large aircraft. This entire project is going to hinge on improvements to battery technology. If it stagnates, HA is really going to struggle to make this work at all for 1 aircraft, let alone their entire fleet which they've said in press releases in the past that they want to convert their entire fleet to electric airplanes. Putting batteries in the cargo compartment of the beaver is going to make this a no-baggage-only aircraft, which isn't very useful. It will be restricted to aerial tours only which is kinda yikes.
I think you're both correct and incorrect with your concerns. From what I understand Harbour Air's bread and butter route,Vancouver to Victoria is a 35 min flight, And their basic sightseeing flight in both of those stunning cities is 30 min. So a converted Beaver with the batteries in the floor gas tank compartment and behind the engine fire wall would have about twice the endurance required for their most common flights. The current technical issue being over come is not the endurance of the batteries but rather the shape of the batteries. Engineering is being done by Magnix the battery provider to manufacture the same number of "celled" battery in a flatter configuration matching the under floor "fuel tank" compartment. Harbour Air believes they are demonstrating the flight times of the equivalent number of cells as the future space will allow for. One really neat thing about using batteries in these small commuter planes is that the center of gravity (COG) with a full charge or empty battery basically never changes. This greatly reduces the normal large changes in flight characteristics that small planes encounter as "heavy" fuel is used up. And should allow for more flexibility when accounting for and distributing the weight of passengers and their luggage. The goal of reducing CO2 emissions for thier most common daily was the original worthy challenge taken on by Harbour Air. But they are demonstrating reductions in noise pollution, required pilot skill levels, and maintenance costs could be happy side effects of switching to electric engines even with the current battery technology.
@mic7504 The problem with lithium batteries is that they catch fire. I would not go on an airplane that uses this technology.
@@Andysunflower Yeah, I mean I haven't heard of any problem with electric cars spontaneously combusting. But yes there have been enough troubles with electronic device batteries that you are right to ask the question about risks of using large cells of these in aircraft.. And yet you probably own several devices you don't give a second thought too. And the difference in durability between the batteries that were part of a twenty million numbered production run that are sitting in a laptop that has been tossed around and was designed from the beginning with inadequate cooling just to stay competitive size wise and the ones in the most tested and inspected form of public transportation that are part of a very limited and very expensive 2000? unit production run is night and day.
