They will both sound better, run cooler and tubes wll last longer. and probrable no more cooking the pc board.

I have an AC30 and I love it, but it's big and heavy and louder than I need 90% of the time. I picked up a Pro Jr. and was surprised how it had more of a Vox quality than I expected - not the same, but the midrange was naturally stronger in the mids (even without a mid control - just set the tone at 5). I run an EQ and reverb pedal in front of it and it does pretty much whatever I need. I know Blues Jrs and Pro Jrs both have EL84s (like Voxes), while other Fenders usually have 6L6s so I wonder if that's part of it.

I'm fortunate enough to own both (I'm NOT a gear junkie, just happen to have them both). I get the sentiments being expressed in this vid. For home use, the thing I find about the blues junior is that you can get a good sound without blasting the whole household, so that's definitely a winner for me. Overall, it's a pretty good tone that you can enjoy, and you don't have to do too much to it to improve it even more. The Vox is, well, a difficult beast to tame. It's bloody bright, it's bloody loud, and it's easy to get some pretty scratchy tones out of it. Oh, and it's damn heavy! But it does have some pluses: it seems really well built to me, it gives off zero noise, it's got a good reverb, and it overdrives quite easily (just tame that brightness!).

I would've kept it and messed around with the Hendrix and the AC/DC and all that other stuff, but youi're not me. It seems to me that being yourself and honestly expressing that is more important to you than getting awesome plexi tones. Connect the TMP to an FRFR like the FR-12 or FR-10 and then we are talking the same. Rhett is a very bias guy and he has ties with Line 6, I don’t trust all of his reviews. What a bummer. Seems hit or miss for some. I never had update issues or a Bluetooth issues with mine. Incredible pedal. After A/B testing it into power amp with same two cabs I use with my Grand Amps 50 watt Plexi clone, the Lion 68 was close enough that I don’t need to use my Plexi clone + Fryette PS2A anymore. One a more positive note for you - I A/B tested my Lion 68 against a Kourbis Plexivibe tube preamp pedal and was able to match sounds. The Plexivibe includes the phase inverter which can be driven by the preamp output and sound like a big full Plexi. It’s analog, has two 12ax7’s, is mono only, but a lot of tiny rocker switches add a lot of options (on the sides of the pedal), takes a full IEC power cord and drives proper voltage to the tubes. You can alway add a Two Notes CAB M+ and get your cab sims (plus the CAB M+ has power amp modeling with 4 tube types and can also be driven on the power tubes - I wouldn’t drive them with the Plexivibe as it doesn’t need it, but might add a little bit more full Plexi effect). I ran my Lion 68 into clean power amp and same cabs as the Plexivibe. I put the Lion 68 in 4 cable method with the Plexivibe so I could instant switch between the two even while a chord was still ringing out, and got it to where you couldn’t tell which was which as I switched. The Plexivibe is the Treble channel of a Plexi. It’s Gain knob is like the Treble channel volume, it’s Volume knob is like a Master volume (turn it up and it saturates and compresses like turning up the Master Volume of a two hole JMP Plexi, and the Master knob controls the pedal’s actual output. Treble Middle Bass controls and a toggle for high or low gain structure (like the high or low input jacks on a two hole JMP). No updates to do, no app to connect to since it’s all analog. No need for a Marshall SV20 that needs an attenuator to control volumes at home levels. The Plexivibe pedal will get those SV20 sounds on its own. Hand built in Greece by Kourbis Amps. Like I said - I A/B’ed the Lion 68 against my full tube Plexi, but also against the Plexivibe, and all three can sound the same with same cabs. A used CAB M+ from Two Notes paired with Plexivibe and you’ll be back to all the cab sim options plus more. Much smaller than an SV20 too.

I've since had one since you write this.... and yeah - it's awesome. I returned it though - I can't currently justify this much money for one flavor of amp... when alternatives give you 1000's of amps for the same price or less. But yeah - the Lion REALLY nails the Marshall sound.

In fairness there are more examples than just Pete Thorn playing the TMP and sounding good. I have a TMP and have had Fractal, Line 6 and some of the cheaper modelers and they all can sound very similar to each other. I don't know how you amplified it in your other video but I agree that it didn't sound good in that example. Modelers can take a little more work and experience to get good sounds from though. The one exception is the Fractal stuff which just sounds good without much work. I use a power amp into a 1x12 cab and get good results. Strangely I think it sounds better with the cabinet modeling turned on in my example.

Yeah TONEX is divisive for sure. Lots of love lots of hate. I didn't mind it - I owned one for this weekend -but returned it. Back of the box says you can model your own stuff... that is not entirely true... and it had no mod effects... drive only. TONEX's core system is very weird me to me... where the 'block' is what it is.... ie: Tube Screamer on a Deluxe? You can't remove the TS. I dunno. Implemented very weird IMO.

Amplitube not being stable could be because you're using an i5 laptop with thunderbolt. It also depends on what gen your intel i5 is. I use a laptop with an intel E3 1505m processor which is equivalent to an I7 4790 4th gen I7. I also use a UAD Apollo twin with USB and not thunderbolt and have no stability issues. If you eventually upgrade your machine, your have better results because when you build a stereo chain in amplitube 5 with multiple heads and cabs plus adding the 500 series gear at the end of the chain, it sounds phenomenal

I used JCM800's for the vast majority of my touring days when younger but I did, about 7 or 8 years ago, take the plunge and get a Helix which I used on the rare gigs I do these days but used mainly at home. And I love it. But it is very "tweaky" still and in my old(er) age I crave more simplicity as I know what I want. A demo evening at a local guitar shop saw the Tonemaster amps in a shootout (the 2 x Twins and the 2 x Deluxe Reverb as well as the Tonemaster itself which I too found lacking) and I attended as I wanted to hear the Twins as always fancied one but they were always "too heavy and too loud". The TM takes those "cons" away. But the thing I found, especially modelling these amps with the Helix and FRFR cab, is that the speakers and cabinet play a huge part too. To cut a long story short I ended up getting the TM Deluxe Reverb in Blonde as I prefer the 12" Celestion in it over the Fender branded one found in the Black one. The Blonde Twin had Jensens but I think they now have Celestion too on the latest ones. But anyway, the TM blonde Deluxe Reverb knocked valve/tube loving snob me straight out of the park. I had to get one. I did run the Helix as effects only for a while but it was overkill and too bulky so I sold all my JCM800's and 4x12 and 1x12 cabs as well as my flightcased Helix and now I simply run the Line 6 HX FX (basically a Helix but just the effects part so no amps or cabs in there for those not sure) into the Deluxe with a Boss Wazacraft Preamp for a bit of extra boost and that does me. I can get any sound I want. But easily too with hardly any tweaking. That's why this vid resonates so strongly with me.

Joe Satriani did just that for a gig - he used the Fender Tone Master Pro. Tonex "Amalgam Audio" captures, and now I'm playing more than fiddling with stuff ( idc if it hurts feelings, i don't even enjoy playing with line6 sound, i just put my guitar away).. Tonex set up correctly sounds SPOT on to amps. I've bought other captures (haven't tried them all) but Amalgam completely sounded right out of the box. Tonex pedal FTW!!!
