Hey everyone! I’m sorry I haven’t posted any videos until now as life has been busy for me lately. I am also a huge swiftie now!
Anyways, in the evening of April 10, 2024, I checked HeritageUnits.com to see what was in my area and saw that BNSF 6179 was just reported in Berthoud on a empty coal train coming north on the FRS. I went out to the Cherry St crossing in downtown Fort Collins in hopes of seeing it and after waiting for a bit, the train passed the rail cam on the south side of town, which meant it was close. After another 10 minute wait, the horn became audible and headlights visible as BNSF SD70ACes 8471 and 8561 lead a 130-car E-SLPBKM up Mason St and past me at Cherry St in the light rain with BNSF ES44ACs 5802 and 25th Anniversary Unit 6179 shoving on the rear. This was my second time seeing this unit as I had previously caught it in July 2022 leading a WB grain train on the transcon in La Plata, MO.
My friend and fellow railfan Thomas Seelmeyer was at the Maple St crossing (the crossing audible at the start of this video before Cherry St activated and visible as I was panning to the train once the gates were fully down at Cherry St) also filming this train as it went by!
