Customer Service...not for the weak!
BY FAR the most difficult and time consuming part of my profession is customer service. And most likely the critical element to being (somewhat!) successful in that profession. Patience, persistence and humility...it SUCKS eating that humble pie when you make mistakes and also for having to apologize for the parts of the insurance process that are out of my control. Being the "owner" isn't just for the cool parts...you have to own all of the good and the bad. No excuses. Fortunately for me, my previous life (and living with my ex!) prepared me well for getting blasted for all kinds of things...real or imaginary! #veteranownedbusiness #healthinsurance #medicare #florida

    Truth. Be your own best friend. Second know your local clinics and use them if needed. Third keep records if your filing a claim. Fourth goto emergency room if needed. Last have a friend, a wife or just someone who is there as if your not upset your not being treated by the VA.

    I'm not sure this guy knows anything about the VA but I'll venture to bet he doesn't know the VA is the recipient of four Noble prizes in science and medicine, averaging 1 every 25 years. The VA was instrumental in the invention of most modern diagnostic imaging machines, such as the CT and the MRI. There are people all over the world who benefit from the cancer research done by the VA. The VA is also a world-class teaching hospital in every specialty. A VA provider is thoroughly vetted and scrutinized. You have to know your shit to care for our vets, says the VHA. I am 100% disabled from my military experience. I not only receive a handsome monetary compensation every month, but I enjoy THE. BEST. HEALTHCARE. in the world. To date, the VA has easily spent over a million dollars, providing me with the life-saving treatment and medicine I require. I'm currently preparing for a life-extending surgery that would cost any private insurance company over half a million dollars, not including all the after care for the rest of my life, if I'm lucky. With private healthcare in this country being what it is, and insurance companies a for-profit institution with political clout, my life would have ended five years ago and my kids would be paying my medical bills for the next decade. Also, this BULLSHIT about the VA being a form of socialized medicine is ridiculous. Socialized medicine would be a policy that would make insurance agents obsolete. The Veterans Administration is a highly popular cabinet-level agency that has the authority to provide healthcare to those individuals who have served our country honorably, were injured or otherwise damaged during service, or who lack the financial resources to provide for their own healthcare. Ain't nothin' free in this world, believe me. If you think the VHA is socialized medicine, you're only hurting yourself and veterans. The greedy vultures in this country really hope to privatize the VA, and it's beginning to show in decreased funding and vets being outsourced to the community because they don't have the funding to stay competitive with staffing and specialty care. The private healthcare market wants the taxpayer's money too. They want to bill the government, which always pays on time, which means your family is not only paying for healthcare but also paying for increased costs to VA care. And the individual vet isn't going to get away, either. Look, the VA is doing just fine. Get a physical, sure. You're gonna need private health insurance for your families anyway, I mean, lol, 2yr old's can't join the military right, but don't be a Karen and post Tic-Tok videos about how you didn't get the service you think you deserve. What part of your military experience were you not indoctrinated to bureaucracy? Keep your sticky fingers off the VHA.

    I'll tell what the Bay Pines VA did for me. They took a PTS, Homeless, Heroin addict and gave him a chance at 57 years old. Sure they have there draw backs, but I would not have 6 years 7 months and 14 days clean, with my own apartment and part time job and just purchased a 2016 vehicle. Sure there were days I questioned why, now I know why. Thanks Brian

    Since I stated using the VA 10 years ago after my work’s insurance rates and out of pocket expense skyrocketed, my time to get care and quality of care at the VA is on par and in some ways better than private care now that community care is in place. VA doc caught a tumor my private doctor missed for years that saved my vision and possibly my life.

    You can't judge the whole VA system by your experience at your local facility. I know the VA hospital I go to in east TN is great and is head and shoulders above any other hospitals ran by the local medical conglomerate (Ballad Health). Mine is wonderful but the VA on the other end of the state in Memphis is said to be one of the worst. You would think all VA facilities would be fairly consistent since they operate under the same policies but not so.

    • @jayellison252
      @jayellison252 4 місяці тому

      I definitely think that some facilities are better than others...there are several here in the Tampa Bay area and they have substantially different reputations. My issue isn't with a specific facility as much as it is the bloated, inefficient bureaucracy that runs the whole thing.

    Thank God for the VA healthcare system, it may be broken but it's far better than any other healthcare in America. It's not socialized medicine that's broke, it's the for-profit healthcare system that's truly broken. I am a vet and I use both the VA and civilian healthcare system. The employees at the VA hospital are far more helpful and far nicer. This video is propaganda (and idiotic to boot).

    I guess it depends on which VA clinic you go to, just like any big organization, there are good branches and bad branches but I can say unequivocally that I have had nothing but good experiences at the VA where I've been getting my healthcare for 15 years. I think it's safe to say I'd probably be dead by now if it wasn't for the preventive care I received from this socialized medical system. For profit healthcare is mostly a scam in my opinion.

    • @jayellison252
      @jayellison252 4 місяці тому

      I've had some good docs for sure, but there just isn't any accountability for the system when you have to wait a year for an eye exam or your appointments get cancelled with no warning and no timely rescheduling. It's a big, slow bureaucracy. Not a fan of private healthcare, but I didn't have to wait 6 months to get my shoulder fixed with them.

    • @CarterQuillenP.E.
      @CarterQuillenP.E. 4 місяці тому

      @@jayellison252 Understaffing for some services is a problem for many medical facilities in many places, not just the VA. I literally got same day service when I went to the eye clinic at my VA. You can't paint the whole VA as sucking when you have a bad experience and then conflate that with socialized medicine. I've never met an actual Canadian that didn't have high praise for their system. And very few people are happy with our for profit system in the US where we spend more money than any other first world country and have poorer outcomes. Over 50% of the bankruptcies in the US are attributed to medical bills and we are the only country where that can even happen. The VA is literally the largest socialized medical system on the planet so they are sure to have some problems in many locations but that doesn't mean socialized medicine is bad.

    Yeah! Keeping my private insurance. The VA is full of doctors in training. The best physicals are at Kaiser Permanente - IMO. I would like to think there are at least a few VA clinics out there that are at least adequate. I didn't have such fortune in a couple states, to the point I simply gave up on dealing with the VA at all now. Over 10 years battling their system, and getting that final 'too late to do anything now' answer, and I'd rather rot in a ditch than have any further interactions with any VA. If anyone out there is recently separated, or planning to separate, get a hard copy of ALL your records; get proper representation; get an unbias medical exam outside the government system and be prepared to fight for all you deserve. If not, they will play their deny and delay until you get so frustrated you walk away, or you find one of those growing number of VA claim businesses to fight for you. The tough part is for those that are separated with little resources to afford such help, because I can't say the VA or any other government agency gives a spit about you once you're out, other than a possible sound byte and political campaign ad - then they discard as well.

I work in healthcare registration and have to explain these plans to patients who don't understand that they most likely will have a financial responsibility for the visit and your explanation was spot on.
