I spent about 25 years travelling on these things, I can actually recall the smell of them! Nostalgic as this is the service was dreadful. Once I was on a southbound train running very late which they decided to cut out the stop at Cowden, an old chap (bowler hat, briefcase and walking stick) pulled the emergency cord as we neared Cowden which resulted in an emergency stop lining up with the platform, then he casually got off being shouted at by the Guard. Imagine doing that now!

Enid not even looking at the keyboard. She can type, me 2 fingers and not that quick. Had this on but went to the 190's footage one and comment first. Now back to write on this. Nice to see. Enid in the MG club building now I guess. At the dead end. Cemetery road? . The last smaller building left and the now flats next door. Heritage day video here. as did cheeky link on other video. ua-cam.com/video/xQ5PpFgo_E0/v-deo.html See a railway video from 1984. Can just remember the line later 80's until it went. John Mason, school days. really 25years to young to remember properly. It used, just for MG in the end until that last 1984 passenger jolly. Is another "Bernard" 8mm film as well on it.

Hello Alan. You still here, Abingdon person. Looked like it was being film in 97 from the back garden?. fence looked like it, maybe not. Very local if walked from that back in the day!. So cinema closed and bored up 1990. Did 1987 the last time, 86. about that, school days. So what was getting knocked down was Pavlova as well. Now the houses, police station. McDonalds. See Ock mill. Trying to get bearings. The DHL. Oxford engineering. Tops tiles and all that part of it. Seems to match up on old map. Abingdon Heritage days last month, did a video. what was it used for, had things in over the years from 1981 to 96-7. It not left for 16- 17 years or so. Things used until the Anna Pavlova close, police station and all that came along. My effort last month. ua-cam.com/video/xQ5PpFgo_E0/v-deo.html

They were in a pretty poor state at the end on the Ashford-Hastings line which I used to use a fair bit. They were pretty dowdy inside - one set was even missing some seat cushions for a bit (hooligans threw them off the train, apparently) I remember another got about ten yards along the platform at Hastings before there was a bang and smoke started pouring out of the engine ventilators - emergency stop and staff ordered us all off the train! But if you were lucky, you'd get a ride on a preserved set from the Hasting Diesels group , as they were sometimes hired when there were stock problems on the line.

Nice video apart from the unwanted music at the beginning. There was no traction motor noise at all that I could hear in the entire video ! Perhaps you were unlucky and these motors were unusually quiet (if you sit towards the back of the power car you can usually hear them (especially on part load) since it is the rear bogie that is motored). It's nice to hear `engineering in action' when you can hear both the Diesel engine and the traction motors.

They used to run these from Portsmouth to Southampton, because that part of the line didn't used to be electrified. Then they did most of it, but still left out the part which let electric trains from Brighton run right through to Southampton and Weymouth.

I needed to know why don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock and that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Train and 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it bigger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Train tunnel into a High-Speed train? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Train line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 37 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project that is OK for London Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden? oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street and also make another brand new tunnel train station in Chingford and could they extend the DLR? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and they can order Every 17 Octagon and Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique minor no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 117MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 117MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 16 Tonnes for all of the 117MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are Told!! And please do something about these very important Professional ideas Please Prime Minister of England, the Prime Minister of Sweden, the Prime Minister of Germany, the Prime Minister of Italy, the Prime Minister of Poland and that Includes the Mayor of London.

Thanks for posting this video. I was on this tour, from Dun Laoghaire, having done the tub from Holyhead. As I recall, BR / Virgin Trains decided to cease operation of the Down Irish Rail (the 22.00 Euston to Holyhead) necessitating Pathfinder Tours to run a connecting road coach from the West Country. I picked up this bus at Wolverhampton, having gone by train from London. The bus driver fell asleep at the wheel, and instead of going around a grass roundabout on the A5 in Anglesey, the bus went over it. I had to endure the bus back to Wolverhampton the next night, and a long wait for the first train on a Sunday, the 07.12 to Euston. Still it was worth it. I had forgotten the cows on the line. I think this tour was the last passenger train to transverse Athenry to Claremorris ? Tuam was the site of Westrail; their E Class 428 worked Pathfinder Tours Balligo Divider in 1988, a video of which is also on UA-cam. I was on that train also.

Having done around 2,000 tours (starting with BR Merrymakers in the 1970s, the RESL, Hertfordshire Railtours, Southern Electric Group, Pathfinder Tours), I progressed to ITG Tours, and finally PTG Tours. Covering Alaska to the Ukraine by rail.
