Comment and question for Joe. I think you kind of touched on it, but as an American I think the problem for Ribble is that you guys got known in America, but I have no clue how to buy Ribble in the US. Is it even possible? So the name became known and popular in the US, but Ribble doesn't have any presence in the US. Nobody knows that brand, and worse then that, nobody can buy that brand. If I, as an American, see your bikes and want to buy one, it's incredibly difficult. So I think there isn't any ROI for Ribble. And you mentioned Legion. I think it was a good comparison. The difference being that when Legion was big, it was easy to buy a Specialized bike or buy Rapha kit. The accessibility was there. Also, they are an influencer brand. They get race results, but they're a social media influencer brand more than anything. And like you said, that wasn't your goal.
I will let Joe reply to this one! IT'S SUCH A GREAT QS?
You've hit the nail on the head on what was a big mistake on my behalf. We became known in the US fast, but we didn't have the channels to turn it into anything. Once I saw how big the US scene was, I wanted to dominate it. As a Team Manager, it was the best decision I could've made, but managing a team sponsored by someone trying to sell more bikes, it was a big mistake. I should've focussed a lot more of our time on the UK crit series (which the team did, and dominated by winning half of the series). But, then again argue against myself, the UK doesn't have that intangible 'vibe' that the US crit series does. We needed the US craziness to become known, but I should've done a better job to turn it into something at home. Our team would've been a marketing masterclass if Ribble had been launching into the US market at the exact same time as we were winning.
Agreed 👍
good interview
Agreed 👍
Bummed this doesn’t have more views - I thought Ribble Rebellion was really cool and the type of project I’d like to see more of in cycling. Cool to hear Joe talk about his experiences.
Thanks for watching! The podcast need more people to view this revealing conversation! 🙏
Great analysis, thank you! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
This guys is a genius! Such a good product.
A great initiative, and much needed. Unfortunately in rural Scotland, no such network exists for queer folk..
Great one!
Thank you for your content
As an owner of a 2019 Superlight, now modified to below 9 kilo with mudguards, and a lot of extra and lighter parts, it is a horrible, hard rolling bike! But for its purpose, Transport as folded, it s the very best!! I'm able to bring it in the back of my car, on trains and for vacations with ease. Finn. Denmark
