The diamond patterned knit or crochet top is so pretty! That was definitely my fave
Same sameee 😭😍
You have provided very useful information. Congratulations. If you make a video about what short or overweight people should prefer and what they should avoid, it would be very informative. Thank you.
So glad you enjoyed it! And thank you for the suggestion, video on how to dress petite frames coming up soon 😊
As a dark winter do you feel like tan or lighter brown washes you out?
Yess! A little bit! I think tan accessories look off especially. But my skin is very close to neutral so i can pull them off somewhat. No colors look terrible but if I compare with my best colors it becomes very obvious! Are you also a dark winter? 😊
@@irene.marceline yes. I get the most compliments when I wear green, black or grey. 😊
Saaame and red! ❤️
The pockets in the pants are real. You just need to open them
Oh my god 😂 I had no idea! Thanks
Tatting is the art of making lace by hand. It does look hand done. Your vocabulary is impressive considering you are speaking a second language. Nice pieces.
Great to know! Thank you so much, I like reading dictionaries 🥰
Pretty things.and they look good on you. It' a pity the Vassili jacket is in polyester, though. For your slim pear-shaped body I woulld suggest the Loulou trousers. They have the right ratio between waist and hips.
Thank you so much! 🥰I love the loulou pants, but they were so big on me 😂 there’s no middle way I guess. I personally don’t mind the polyester because it’s not a piece that needs frequent washing since it’s a jacket, but I’ve returned it 🙈
Are these shoes vegan? If yes, where did you get them from? Such a cute outfit! Love your channel! ❤
Thank you so much! 💕 Yes they are vegan (everything I wear is always vegan). They’re from Vivaia, you can find reviews of their shoes on my channel 🥰
Thank you for sharing this. I'm going vegan.
Thank you! 🥰 OMG that’s amazing, I’m so happy for you and the animals 💕 best of luck on your journey 🌱
I love your videos so much and you always choose such nice items. I have the Ron and I am waiting for the Martin. Enjoy the warm weather♥
Thank you so much! 🥰
The first top and vest are so cute on you. For the sizing did you get an xs ?( size) also for the pants wondering if 23 waist would be 00.
Thank you! 🥰 Yes everything is XS, the pants are size 34 which I think is considered 0, at least where I live 😊
The Ron Top is so striking on you I hope you keep it! Love the Martin Trousers on you as well. What size did you get for the trousers? <3
Thank you so much! 🥰 The pants are size 34!
Thank you for such a thoughtful video. what is your natural waist size? Thinking to get the pants :)
Thank you for watching 🥰 My waist size ranges between 59-63 cm depending on how much I ate 😂 The pants have an elastic back so they can stretch a bit as well, hope this helps!
So helpful, Thank you so much for your reply!! Xoxo
Of course! You’re welcome 🥰
This video is definitely my favorite. Audrey is my favorite style icon. You did a wonderful job acknowledging her influence in style 🌟
Thank you so much! 🥰 She’s also one of mine! So glad you enjoyed 💕
Not enough pics, which disappear almost immediately. Excellent content.
i love skirt..
lmaooo i can't believe there used to be literal FASHION POLICE
The jokes write themselves 😂
This is so interesting!
Thank you! Happy you enjoyed it 🥰
This was so good! This fashion history is awesome. We should have had this in school! 😁
Thank you! 🥰 Glad you found it interesting! I guess this topic was too fun for schools to teach 😂
Loved this fun video! I just want to add that modest swimwear IS fashion. The primary issues with “early modest swimwear” was that it was impractical/heavy and that it was highly policing peoples (mostly women’s) bodies. Currently, we have many levels of modest swimwear from the skirt dress to the burkini to the full body swimsuits in East Asia. Luckily, we have the technology to make these modest swimsuits practical, agile, long lasting, and provide sun protection. In some countries, like France famously, burkinis are not considered swimwear because of rampant Islamophobia in the country and the French are (ironically) okay with policing some women’s bodies. IMO no swimwear is inherently good or bad, but policing bodies/fashion/religion is always bad.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment and for watching the video! 🥰 I really appreciate that you brought up really good points! The video took so long that I couldn’t to get into this particular issue, but I might delve deeper into it in the future 😊 I completely agree that modest fashion has always been/will be an important part of fashion. It’s also ironic how colonizers shamed people for not adhering to European ideals of modesty in the past, and now, out of pure arrogance and lack of self-awareness, some of the same societies are policing and shaming people who dress modestly today. They are imposing and policing others’ bodies based on fluctuating western centric standards instead of respecting individual choice. I think it’s simply about respecting everyone’s right to choose how they dress without interference. I believe in challenging harmful systems (amongst which, in my personal opinion there is also religions in general, which have been used as a means of people policing and fear mongering throughout centuries) But challenging these systems should never come at the expense of individual freedom or more policing ❤️
the way you explain things is so educated and clear, amazing videos! thank you my lovely.🌻
Thank you so much for your kind comment 🥰 I’m very glad you enjoyed this video!
This was so helpful - I’ve just started teaching myself to sew and was definitely falling into a “I need to learn this as fast as I can so I can make as much as I can” mindset - your advice really helped me reframe it back into something I want to do to satisfy my creativity and challenge myself, instead of buying into the consumerism side of it. Thank you ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching! ❤️ I'm thrilled to hear that the advice was useful for you to reframe your approach to sewing. It's much more fun to focus on creativity and challenging yourself rather than feeling pressured by the quantity of clothes you made. Enjoy your sewing journey 🥰
❤❤
❤❤
Such a great collection of advice! I love hearing from people who know way more than me, so I can find out what I need to learn (half the battle haha)
Thank you so much! 🥰 Glad it was useful to you! It’s definitely a battle but also a great way to connect. I’ve also got so much to learn still but I learned so much from others in the beginning! Community is everything in acquiring such essential skills 🥹
I might have missed it, but did you sew your top? It’s beautiful! I’d love to know what pattern you used if you used one!
Hi! No I bought it from a brand named Bird & Kite but unfortunately I think they’ve gone out of business 🥲 But I did sew a very similar one to which some simple balloon sleeves can be added for the same effect! I made it using this tutorial (I just made the ties a bit longer) and it turned out perfect 🥰: ua-cam.com/video/OOzB5nRMsKQ/v-deo.htmlsi=zXk2DthOZBRfOwsp
Thank you for the tips! I appreciate the part about not falling into consumerism and taking your time to craft a well thought through and well constructed piece. I also see these 'marathon sewing' videos where someone sews 10 outfits in 24 hours or a new wardrobe in a week and I doubt my sewing ability in comparison, since it takes me more than a month to make one piece, but I appreciate the validation that it's not wrong to take my time with each garment so that it turns out just right
Thank you for watching and your comment 🥰 Yes definitely I also kinda felt bad about my time management when I first saw things like that but I know that it makes no sense! Like if I want so many clothes that fast it’s better to buy fast fashion at this point, probably will be better quality even 🥲 it’s just a bad message to give overall, sewing is supposed to be sort of meditative i think 💕
Thank you for the tips! I always enjoy learning new ways to perfect the craft. Here is my nightmare sewing storytime: I was almost done with sewing 3 bridesmaids dresses for my friend's wedding, and as I went to iron the hem of the skirt on one of them, my iron melted the fabric. I ended up cropping off the whole bottom section from where it had melted and adding a bottom section to the skirt, luckily I had enough fabric left. Now I always test my iron on a scrap of fabric and I am more careful with the iron temperature. (I also have a much better iron now)
Oh my god I’m so sorry that happened to you, it’s my worst nightmare! 🥲 It’d probably happen to me as well because I tend to keep my iron slightly hotter than recommended for each fabric due to a lack of patience but i’ve never sewn with synthetics before 😂 But it was great thinking and resourcefulness on your part adding a bottom section and saving the day like that, I’d be too sad/mad and chuck the dresses honestly! 😂
You have fiven a lot of good advice. I agree that you should spend time on garments you love and will wear. I have seen several posts by UA-camrs who realised that they never wore dresses, despite taking part in multiple dress making challenges. These may have taught them some new skills, but would have been even better if they actually got some use out of the final garment. You may come across some fabric so off grain that it cannot be fixed. If possible buy woven stripes and checks, if the stripes are just printed on the fabric and it was already off grain you will never fix it. I am a great fan of basting for tricky fabrics and areas that need to be especially precise. If you have issues with marker pens on a fabric use tailors tacks to mark key points instead. If you want to be able to refashion your garments in the future make wide vertical seams and deep hems. A wide hem helps the garment to hang well and gives you options for adjusting in the future. Blind stitch hems and do not press them into a hard crease, as this will make it harder to alter in the future if fashions change.
Thank you so much for sharing all these invaluable tips and advice 🥰 Yes totally! it’s one thing to not wear something you bought, but even worse when one spends all that time to make it just to not wear it 🥲 Also, I heard about such fabrics that are so off grain but thankfully never had to deal with one 🙈
These are awesome sewing tips! The ironing one especially. It really really REALLY makes a huge difference!
Thank you 🥰 Yes sewing without ironing is like wearing a blindfold 😂 And idk it’s the most fun part for me 🤷🏻♀️
@@irene.marceline Getting that perfectly crisp press is the best part!
I really want to learn to sew. When you first started did you take a class or did you teach yourself?
That’s so exciting! 💕 I learned at home with the online course of Evelyn Wood (another youtuber), I totally recommend it and her channel too! Amazing resources and great for a solid base, great teacher 🥰 Hope you enjoy your seeing journey ✨
Ur so lovely & cute🫂😘😘😘😘💋💋😘😘👄😘😘😘💋💋😘😘👄👄🫶❣️🌹💞
Where is your blue top during the speaking portion from
Hi! I sewed myself it using a fabric from liberty and a UA-cam tutorial 😊 If you’re a sewist I can send you the links! 💕
Ooh yes pls! It’s super cute
you should keep the bikini! Looks cute on you
Thank youu 🥰 I ended up so undecided that I returned both 😭 oh well
That’s ok! You’ll find something better! ❤
I'm not a stickler for historical accuracy in the costumes, but.... is it wrong that I hated Penelope's hair? Why was it always down? That's scandalous!😂 And in the first 2 seasons, the of-age ladies always had their hair at least partially pinned up. This season just doesn't connect in any way to the previous ones.
Yes, I think that is they used the same color palette and more historical accuracy it’d have been a million times better and more beautiful! Oh well 😅
I loved this. You covered a lot. Also love Mediterranean aesthetic. The colors so beautiful. I'm half Lebanese and you always remind me of stylish Lebanese girls I've known. Thanks to you I wore my new linen shorts the other day. You're SO right about them being cooler in the heat! 💙🩵
Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching my video! 💕 I'm glad you peace with linen hehe 😂 I think the Mediterranean aesthetic/lifestyle is truly inspiring, and it's wonderful to know that my style resonates with you 🥰
This was original and inspiring! Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed! Thank you 🥰
Love this too! I haven’t seen people talking about this specifically, but I feel like my ideal style is a blend of this and Parisian/classic. Thanks for the video!
Glad you liked it! 🥰 I was exactly the same too (mix of french/mediterranean style). But now I moved away from France and I find myself in search of something different this summer at least until the fall ✨ Thanks for watching and commenting 💕
Love this! I am totally on board with this style. The jewelry you showed is so beautiful. Do you have any links to share?
Thank you! Glad you liked it 🥰 I added some links in the description 🌸
Great video, these are so fun :) I agree with some of your takes. Trends are very individuals and it's just a good opportunity to snag a piece that fits within one's specific style. For me I would say I love leopard print and larger florals. I'm tall and very curvy (large hips and bust) and tend to dress on the glam side. Small prints (small florals included) look fussy on me and just don't suit me.I generally stay away from sweet/innocent/evoking childhood items but go for bolder/femme/glam.
Thank you, glad you liked it 💕 I agree, every person has so many factors to consider like style body type and complexion etc. that make a huge difference in wardrobe choices 😊 Your style sounds glamorous and must look beautiful on you! For me it’s the opposite and those things look really overwhelming 🙈 but I did see some people who pull off that style so well (like Sophia Vergara) ✨
Yesss to all these! I try to tell my friends that if they covered themselves in loose linen, like loose long-sleeveless shirts and loose long linen pants, they would be so much cooler than in a tight pair of shorts and tight t-shirt. None of them believe me though haha. Oh well.
Hehe the advice is free but they don’t always listen 🙈😂
As an Egyptian I truly enjoyed this video thank you ❤
So glad to know you enjoyed it 🥰 What a truly fascinating culture 💙✨
Love 90s inspired😊
Me too, such a simple but elegant era 🥰 Thanks for watching! 💕
Thank you for the video! What a great presentation and breakdown of the topic
Glad you found it helpful! Thank you for watching 💕
Thank you for this. You have made me decide to give linen another try. 😊
Glad you found it helpful 🥰 Were you previously disappointed with linen?
@@irene.marceline I'm a picky Virgo so anything that easily wrinkles sends me into orbit 😂 Embrace the linen wrinkles I'm telling myself.
@@keyarawvegan hahaha 😂 I’m also a virgo! I have some such habits so I understand that feeling but I love the “lived in” look 🥰
I love this! This is such a great over view of Marie Antoinette and she is definitely one of my favourite historical fashion icons! Also the Sofia Coppola film is literally one of my favourite movies. The costuming is incredibly good!
Thank you! So happy you liked this 😍 I love that movie too, must’ve seen it a million times (in fact I rewatched it after filming this 😅) Did you notice the converse scene?
@@irene.marceline haha yes! The converse scene is one of my favourites! The fashion is so good in the film. I love the colours and the aesthetic and it got me into 18th century fashion as well!
@MichelleSMV Yeah it was also my fashion history geek origin story 😂 That movie does that to you 🤷🏻♀️
@@irene.marceline definitely!
I hope you kept the bikini lol! All the pieces were really cute and you looked great in them!
Thank you so much 🥰✨ I ended up returning the bikini though, the shape of the bottom made me feel weird 😭
These are great tips Irene! I'm shocked that there are people who go without sunscreen or any sort of sun protection haha, but tbh I'm from Jamaica and I don't think a lot of people used It there when I was growing up either 😄. I totally use it myself now though! Also this video reminded me I need to go buy sunglasses!
Thank you 🥰 Glad you found them helpful! Actually here people use it but even though they also love to tan at the beach which is so unhealthy 🏖️ if I think of a smell from my childhood summers I immediately remember the nivea coconut/carrot sunscreens 😂 (they smelled sooo good!) I’m so curious to visit Jamaica one day hopefully, so curious about the Caribbean 😍
@@irene.marceline Tanning is so unhealthy I agree! I hope you can get to visit Jamaica! It's a beautiful country and you'll really enjoy your stay!
Great tips! May I have the link to the white top you were wearing in the video please?
Thank you! 🥰 It’s a top I bought a few years ago so unfortunately it’s no longer available. I bought it from Faithfull the brand and the name was jacinta top. You can find a link to faithfull’s website in the description 💕
Thank you for a very sincere and beautiful video.👏❤️
Thank you 🥰
Hi Irene, Just wanted to tell that I loved this video, and the one about Marie Antoinette as well 🧡 You have such a creative mind, great sense of esthetics, and not to mention your ability to put thoughts into words in a super structured way! I have actually never approached fashion from a very broad historical perspective. This inspires to look at fashion in so many new (or should I say old haha) fun and fascinating ways! ☺️ Love, Saana
Dear Saana, I’m so glad to hear that you loved the Nefertiti and Marie Antoinette episodes! 🥰It's amazing to know that these videos are inspiring new interests and ideas for you. I’m passionate about showcasing fashion's timeless evolution through history. Your comment is really encouraging! I’ve been aiming to create a channel that isn’t just about consumerism, but also delves into the rich cultural, historical, and creative aspects of fashion. Even though this series is still in its early stages, comments like yours make me excited to continue creating content that connects with people who share my passion for fashion as a multi-faceted art form ✨ Thanks again for watching and sharing your thoughts!💕
@@irene.marceline Thank you, Irene, for your kind response, so glad if my comment encourages you to keep on going, even a little bit! 🧡 The vision for your channel sounds amazing, I'm definitely going to stay tuned! ☺️ It was actually super delighting to hear you talking about brands whose designs you love yet haven't owned in this video. Because as you said it, fashion is so much more than consuming, it is indeed a form of art and an important part of any human culture. In the end, it's very human, and this makes it soo interesting as a whole phenomenon! And as with art in general, we don't always need to own it to enjoy it and even play with it - these videos are a perfect example of that! 😊✨
