a whistle pig also known as a marmot or ground hog in some areas ground squirrel,will whistle when they are talking to young or the high pitched whistle sounds when they are cornered or threatened its worse than rabbits screams,but in any case a whistle pig is a rodent and it does carry disease . i grew up in the mountains and had my fair share of encounters with them,they are scavengers and tend to make big messes out of barn feed and trash cans.they are cute and funny to watch.
