Thanks, I have the new iteration of this one and it answered some questions I had about how to guy the inner tent.
Hi, thanks for your videos! I've got an ESVO tent and was wondering why there were two pegging points for the inner - one (quite substantial) rubber / plastic loop, and another with an aluminum D-ring pegging point higher up. What's the purpose of the D-ring? Thanks
How can I contact you to buy a tent?

I have doubts on your statement on size, "no one ever made". There were various similar tents of that design in lightweight cotton in that period and the king of them is the bigger/later longer version of the ES Giraffe. I have in my tent collection the smaller Giraffe, about the size you show here. Lightweight tents with aluminum poles have a clear wind and even heavy rain limit people should be made aware of, especially in the 140 to 150gr category.
Thanks for the tour :) I recently bought one of those. It's in super sweet condition but has a distinct cellar odour. Is this something that just dissolves by standing in the sun for weeks? What are you experiencing?
Good job!
We have had a simpler version of Vrijbuiter for more then 10 years. Last year we were lucky enough to buy an unused new Vrijbuiter Stormvogel 6 from someone. Too bad the tent is no longer for sale. A fantastic tent indeed. Your video helped us make the choice for this tent.
I guess it has rain caps on the spikes. And I need to look out for wear in the PVC in he corners where the poles rest? My early 90s Vango suffered PVC failure, possibly due to plasticiser leaching (or maybe kids not as careful as I'd be). I wonder if that is a problem on older tents?
These don't need caps as they have leather patches that form a seal, like on old Relums. The poles have rubber feet but also these isn't that much tension. I've not yet seen one of these with stress damage or tears in this area of groundsheet. The PVC on these is considerably thicker and better than Vango use. Indeed its heavier than the canvas.
Goodday sir! I really like your video's on ESVO tents. Living in the Netherlands, I'm fortunate enough to find them on a regular basis in my local thrift shops. Over the years, I've collected quiet a lot of ESVO tents, mostly their 2-3 person ones. For around €5 to €10 Each, they are an absolute steal 😄👍 Love their quality and attention to detail. Most ESVO tents in my collection are made for Vendex, McKinley and Perry Sport.
We've had a lot of fun camping in this tent in the nineties. In fact I have it still parked one (packed) in the attic . Extremely storm and rain resitant and wonderful spacious. Not too hard to put up by one person if you know how to do it and follow the instructions. Just take the time or when in a hurry, ask help, especially with the pegs.
Hear the excitement in his voice!
I'm build a test 10x12' hempcrete build at the moment, we are in the California hills and the main attraction is that it is extremely fireproof, something we didn't need to worry about in the UK as much. Problem over here in the states is acquiring the hydraulic lime. I found a material to mix with hydrated lime that is readily available. so hoping it works out.
Hi Brian. If you are on Facebook then get onto the international page called Talking Natural Homes as there are some real hemp and lime experts on there. The ratio of your lime binder to the Hemp shiv is really important and Hempcrete does fail where this is wrong, so getting some real pro help with this will be essential. You can also contact Alex at UK Hempcrete and he can offer you an online consultation. I used this service and was well worth the small investment. Good luck. Dave
@@dutchtentsforsale3685 cheers mate, I'll look into that forum. We did have a consultation with a chap called Maddie, he is a hempcrete afficinado over this way. The binder I'm using hydrated lime and metakaolin as a pozzolan and through testing so far it works really well. The reason to build a shed first is to trial it all out at larger scale prior to investing in it for our new home build.
What mixer did you use?
Hi. I was advised by UK Hempcrete to use a Pan mixer but instead I used a 90ltr Bell mixer. Now I understand why they were right and I was wrong. Basically you can lay it faster than a 90,or even a 115 ltr can mix it. So lots of time lost waiting. So if rasing a wall 25cm thick or more you need a bigger mixer. I reckon just on my own I cld lay 200ltrs in one hit, so about 10mins. So unless you're building a small shed don't use a Bell mixer.
@@dutchtentsforsale3685 good to know, thanks. i'm building 2 houses in northern sweden, i'll get a 300 ltr
@@martyy4073 Hmm, sounds interesting. If you wan t any technical info speak to Alex from UK Hempcrete, hes an absolute pro with Hempcrete and offers a Zoom consultation service, which is well worth it. Good luck
Damn that's my perfect tent, just 9 months too late to buy it! 🤦🏻♂️
Good video and much appreciated
Ok
Hi Dave. I have one of these Randstat tents. My family and I love it. I bought it used in the States for $180. Unfortunately I have a hole in the bottom near where the middle pole sits. Can it be repaired? Also, one of the roof bars got bent and I can still use it but it will no longer separate to the inner and outer sections. Is it possible to get a replacement? Good video!
Not sure if you still have the problem(s) but ESVO in Netherlands will solve it ;)
Zippers are not waterproof under hitting rain, forming roof puddles and load. Make sure you saw the zipper at the correct position with a certain roof/luifel overlap as in De Waard tents usual.....this may conflict with the luifel d-rings or holes as they are now, if these do not match anymore after sawing with overlap.....
No I dont think the zipper will keep all the rain out but at least with Randstads they had a deep front porch, unlike De Waards, so you can sit under that with no problem.
@@dutchtentsforsale3685 That is not fully correct, it depends pretty much on the model. De Waards are by far the most beautiful ones, and certain models have huge front porches to my eyes (like the PD or Kemphaan or Kuifmees), others obviously have such good lines (like the 90ties Albatros) as the vario was the way of design choice. The bunzing isn't bad, but is really is more a practical tent than a beauty.
Beautiful tent.

Hello, I'm looking for the installation instruction for a baco 3800 pyramid tenten and I can't find it online. Would you know how I could find it? Thanks
Hiya, are you still trading?
Hiya yes. Look at Facebook site Dutch Tents for Sale, or www. dutchtentsUK.com
There are 2 bedrooms each able to take a double each.
Can’t fit two double mattresses in? That’s a shame as I really fancy an albatross.
How much are these tents?Do you have a website?Greetings from Germany!
...not if you know what your doing. Its a question of presdure and distance. This is a low power jetwash.
Not a recommendation of manufacturer of any canvas tent so next rain you may get wet
I collect De Waard tents and i also own a Albatros Junior. The Junior is perfect for wintercamping because of the size it's easy to heat and extreme storm-proof. If you just got yourself a De Waard tent that was stored for years the canvas can get very dry and then when it rains it can leak a bit. That's no problem. The rain shall revive the canvas and that's mostly enuf to be waterproof again. Make sure it's very dry when stored again and it's gonna last you decades.
Can a tent stove be used in these tents?
Your washing all the water proofing out! Now you need to re-water proof it!
Very nice!
There are videos on UA-cam that explain how the "dive coated" cotton works. It tightens up when wet.
