I bought the S5 I and around 2 years after the S5 II X. I am NOT selling my S5 I as I want a 2 camera setup for my own UA-cam channel that is indoor / talking head style. The S5 I is a great second camera. No point in selling it and taking a huge loss. It is still a great camera.

Hello I'm thinking of buying the S5 or S5ii I'm mainly using it to film when my standup set will the focus and low light be ok with a S5 or do I opt for an S5ii I'm so confused but I really don't want to spend much

as a camcorder lover i say the answer is NO

You can shoot 4k, 60, 10 bit (420) on the original S5 and the recording limit is only in 4k. 1080 is unlimited.

The autofocus is not that bad if you adjust the sensitivity and shoot with AFS rather than AFC. Also you can bump up the f stop higher and iso as well to compensate for the autofocus pulsing.

so I have the s5ii and s9... I think i rather have a 52x and s5 and s9

Interesting that I should find this video today. I bought a new s5 last night for $850. Am planning on using it exclusively with the Ninja V, and also have a set of Nikkors that I will put on it when I am not using my Zeiss glass. I’m excited to put the camera through its paces. Smallrig makes a Micro HDMI to Full size HDMI adapter thing that is outstanding. I use it on my Sony a7III. It still doesnt have a cable clamp, but it does make the whole set up way more stable. SmallRig Ultra Slim 4K HDMI Type D to A Adapter Cable Part Number 3021

I saw the s5 performs a little better in low light, can you increase contrast-based detection auto focus with raising the in-camera contrast and sharpness? I am thinking of getting one over the fuji series as I have a G9 but a Sony full frame, so this is a tough call, but I love lumix, and mainly record in low light

For the love of god use a lens support my guy. That nikkor and the Matte box is tooo heavy.

Do you have any tuts where you take iphone footage and apply FC filters and the grain filter you're talking about? This is exciting!

I'm glad to see that there are people talking about these old camcorders in capable hands they perform surprisingly well. I'm mostly filming in low light conditions which can be challenging but it can also look cool the shot at 6:40 is my favourite example of this in the video. I'm curious what tips if any could you give for filming in low light conditions with such cameras?

by influence like these videos, I brought S5 + 20-60mm + 50mm lens from amazon. But I really failed to understand why there is so much hype? The image quality was bad, grainy, not good color sign. Autofocus is shit, I checked many videos of AF settings but nothing seems worked. I do mobile photography, the quality of S5 is bad compared to my honor Magic 5 Pro. I am confused, Full Frame, super hype but this s5 felted like I was cheated. I returned back and planning to get Sony A7C M2.

Smallrig do a microHDMI to full size adapter that you clamp onto the cage. Works well and it's super cheap. "SMALLRIG 4K Cable Adapter 4K@60Hz"

Is it worth shooting in Prores Raw vs shooting h265? I dont see a major difference in quality. I once troed the ninja v with my s5 and the colors in post looked different, after converting to rec 709. Too much saturation and the contrast curve looke weird (i used the same rec 709 lut as usual and tried CST). So i decided its maybe not worth the hussle. But what do you say is it worth for the image quality and did i do something wrong?

Since a 600 dollar atomos seems mandatory, you need to factor that into its price. With the worthless af and terrible internal codec options, this needs to be 500 bucks. Add the 600 dollar atomos and you get a 1100 dollar cinema camera that can’t af worth shit but will give you great footage with a little extra work.

For manual vintage lenses ( and not only ) wouldn’t a PD movie auto focus system solve the problem ? I have rigged my S5 with an Atomos Ninja V on top of it, but the auto focus problem isn’t solved yet. Can’t make up my mind between the DJI ( LIDAR ? ) auto focus system or the newest PD Movie system 🤦🏻‍♂️🤔 Great content! Keep it up 👍🏻

I just bought a sony handycam.low budget films from the 70-early 2000s are my inspiration and i wanted a digital camera to give me that retro feel at first i wanted to shoot on a super 8 film but starting out that way would be difficult for a beginner so i choose the camcord route and this video help alot now im confident in the camera i got and cant wait to shoot with it
