The Star Wars SEQUELS are GOOD?! The Rise of Skywalker Video Essay
Welcome to the final video in my miniseries on why the Star Wars Sequels are Good. This video focuses entirely on Star Wars Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, and why I believe it's great. However, this is now more metaphorical. The movie is a mess on the surface level, but I believe the collapse of this film has some silver linings. This is a Star Wars video essay that will examine the pros and cons of Star Wars Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. Ancillary topics include Kathleen Kennedy, the alt-right highjacking of sequel criticism, and the history of the Lucasfilm aquisition. Is Star Wars Episiode IX The Rise of Skywalker Good? You'll have to watch to find out.
I want to thank all my friends for the help they gave on this video. My good friends, family, and viewers like you are all in that. I don't have a large audience, but it makes you all the more valuable. I hope you enjoy my video essay on why the Star Wars Sequels are Good, and why The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy is Great.
If it is requested, I can make an customize a master version of this miniseries into a feature length video essay. For inquiries and conversations, you can find my instagram handle @thomasrozycki17, and if you leave comments here I will reply provided they are respectful and kind. Welcome to Part Two of my miniseries on the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. This video is a deep dive video essay analysis of why Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi is Great. From Kylo Ren, to Luke, to Rian Johnson himself, The Last Jedi is the most controvertial, passionate, and meaningful movie in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, and to me that makes it good. The Last Jedi is bad at times as well. I...

How to Analyze a Poem
Переглядів 219 тис.7 років тому
Intended for assist students in AP Literature and Composition. Explains how to analyze poems and pick off the important details of a work. Shortly after, there is a demonstration of a thesis statement formula, followed up with an example of poem explication utilizing Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken". Please pardon any spelling errors.

    Disagree somewhat with your ranking of the sequel trilogy amongst the other films. I don't think TFA should be anywhere above A New Hope. It's a poor imitation. The OG Star Wars movie wasn't just important for star wars as a franchise, being the first one, but it impacted the entire movie industry in such an incredible way. I wouldn't say better than Empire, but TFA is just a re-hash of the original film with nicer graphics. It's your opinion, I understand, but still i disagree with that judgement. Everything else is kinda in the same spot as I'd place it ( TROS would be at the absolute bottom, even AOTC was far more well structured and executed). But I'm total that's my opinion, not speaking for anyone but myself, but In curious to see how the other side would justify that.

    I agree with this video, but I think you're not giving the prequels credit in regard to Lucas explaining the arrogance of the Jedi Order.

    • @benswolo6928
      @benswolo6928 2 роки тому

      Believe it or not I completely agree. I think the prequels are definitly sloppy, but the ideas presented in the prequels have aged like wine in my opinion. Sure, the CG is kinda bad in 1-2, and the writing is pretty awful with the exception of ROTS, but I really like the prequels. After I finish my physics degree in a few weeks I'm considering making a video about the best things in the prequels, but it seems to be an oversaturated market.

    • @millabasset1710
      @millabasset1710 2 роки тому

      @@benswolo6928 Didn't expect an immediate response, good I have more context. I'm happy the prequel hatred has been dead these past few years, as someone who grew up with the prequels, it's cathartic. I know the prequels aren't perfect, but the RLM mill of arguments have never held up over the years. The prequels had demo reel top of the line CGI for their time, even look good now because there's more practical VFX shots than people realize. Lucas is known for wooden dialogue, but when it comes to his vision and themes in his six movies, you can't replicate that without him. I only like the Last Jedi, I'm not a fan of what Abrams has done to the series. At least Rian understand the importance of the prequels, JJ Abrams believes Star Wars is just ANH and Empire and all about practical effects.

    Just for the record, Force Heal doesn't break the Lore of Star Wars, it was an established power in the Expanded Universe, one only needs to play KOTOR or the Jedi Knight games to know this, heck read the Legacy comic series, Cade Skywalker, the protagonist has a power known as Dark Transfer using the Dark Side to bring someone back from death. Accordingly, Force Heal was a power only known by a few Jedi, not anyone could just use it, you had to have training in the ability.

    Would have been an outstanding video. I got half way through and found other similar videos to watch. Why? Why? Why on earth do you obnoxiously intrude on your own instruction with entirely irrelevant, annoying noise mindlessly playing in the background? As an instructor this diminishes your teaching to that of a 15-year-old making a TikTok video. You ruined your own instruction.

    I appreciate the workmanlike approach to poetry analysis, and especially its utility in the context of an AP Lit/Comp class/test. However...this video, its theme and many of its details, exemplifies why students, and people at large, don't...read...poetry. The overall message here: poems have a "message", a "purpose", a "meaning", and it's my job as a reader to "crack" the poem, explain it, and why I think what I think about it. Is this what we should be teaching about poetry? Finally - at 7:54, our host falls into a trap, though I'm certain unintentionally, he seems a consummate professional, that many readers fall into when reading THIS VERY POEM...he mixes up the "message" of the poem (taking the less-travelled road makes all the difference!) with the poem's title ("The Road Not Taken"). In the hurry to quickly, efficiently, cogently and convincingly explicate the poem, he misses the work's central contradiction, the one that deepens the poem's meaning beyond the "life-lesson" status the poem represents to the vast majority of readers: Why is a poem, known for stressing the importance of choosing that which is uncommmon, against-the-grain, etc....the "road less travelled by"..., why is that poem entitled "The Road Not Taken"? NOT taken...not taken...doubt? Uncertainty? Regret? Perhaps the refusal to make either choice? Can we even trust the narrator? None of these challenging, beautiful, meaningful ideas can be explicated on an AP test.

    • @PvtRichardReiben
      @PvtRichardReiben 2 роки тому

      I totally agree with you, but (as it sounds like you know) the AP is almost entirely assessment-driven, and "success" is based upon your test scores. Merely pondering doesn't equate to a passing AP test score, and (in my experience) most of the students in AP classes are hell-bent on earning a passing grade, not necessarily organic learning/growing through patient poetic appreciation. It's a massive bummer because in order to entice most of these kids, there has to be a grade-based incentive behind nearly everything I do. I was probably the exact same way in high school, but it sucks that there's little-to-no consideration for anything that's not immediately beneficial to them.
