Understanding 9/11 - NewsWorld Live Footage
Hi! Is that ok if I feature this clip in my next video? Fully credited!
18:22 when he says that theyre sruck in rhe elevator shaft and were trying to chop through the wall to ger out. Could you imagine how scary it would gave had to be an injured civilian being stuck in an elevator and seeing a firefighter using an axe ro try and chop through the wall
17:59 “Battalion Nine to Command Post.” Battalion Chief Edward F. Geraghty catching up to Battalion Chief Orio Palmer moments before the South Tower’s collapse. He did not survive.
Edward geraghty sounds like a badass. I can deduce that he was a friend of Orio Palmer, if the towers had not collapsed so quickly, battalion 7 and 9 and also L125 would have been the heroes of the south tower.
13:51-13:52 “Battalion Six to Command Post.” Battalion Chief John P. Williamson following right behind Battalion Chief Orio Palmer. He was also martyred by the South Tower’s collapse.
Who is the guy from 7:00 and 7 alpha?
Yep. You can actually see John Williamson in the north tower on the Jules naudet tape. He went to the south tower as others did like Donald burns.
First responders: The best of America. What this democracy has, underneath all the politics, is resilience. God bless America.
3:07 HEH
11:17 Battalion Chief Orio Palmer linking up with Fire Marshal Ronald Bucca on the 75th Floor.
I always think of those people on the 78th floor who were still alive but badly injured or trapped. To see Orio Palmer and the other firefighters that had made it to the impact zone must have been such an immense comfort to them in their last moments, to know they weren't alone in that hell.
The Extraordinary Eleven as they must always be remembered on 9/11, mainly because they made it the highest to the impact area in the towers, as well as relaying the conditions of the area and be able to save and evacuate the over 600 trapped in the South Tower: Battalion Chief Orio Palmer - Battalion 7 Lieutenant Joseph G. Leavey - Ladder 15 Firefighter Richard Dennis Allen - Ladder 15 Firefighter Arthur T. Barry - Ladder 15 Firefighter Stephen Elliot Belson - Ladder 24 Fire Marshal Ronald Paul Bucca - Fire Marshal Firefighter Thomas W. Kelly - Ladder 15 Firefighter Scott Kopytko - Ladder 15 Firefighter Scott Larsen - Ladder 15 Firefighter Douglas E. Oelschlager - Ladder 15 Firefighter Eric Taube Olsen - Ladder 15
What are the names of battalion 6 and 9 ?
John Williamson Bat 6 Edward Gergaghty Bat 9
God this is freaking hilarious!!😂😂
10 45 code ones that is bodies right i cant imagine what that looked like
What does the word "bank" mean in firefighter slang?
Elevators
given how calm orio was at first vs after he gets to floor 78 makes me horrified to imagine the absolute destruction and death he witnessed, since he sounds increasingly panicked in transmissions after that
so were they actually putting out fires or just assessing what needed to be done while waiting to get any sort of water connection
Great to hear you singing a CHRISTmas song Willy. Bless you.
Fdny Battalion and Deputy Chief Orio Joseph Palmer was Real hefo into thos situation he thinkong on all this Sad People i to wtc and want save them and fight the xire 78 floor. Definitely the funniest
By far the funniest one I've heard
Even funnier one is the police chief bit.
They had several hundred firefighters but the radio channels were clear and orderly. Seems very remarkable to me. Does anyone know how they achieve this? Are only a select few high ranking officers supposed to be on the radios?
in general my understanding is higher ranks are supposed to be the only ones on radio unless absolutely necessary to avoid clutter and confusion
God Bless THE FDNY THEY’RE REAL HEROES OF nyc
I'm watching g the minutes and knowing that it's about to coming down and they were working omg it was so unfair. RIP true heroes
I'm so sad Orio Passed away he was doing a remarkable work. I'm speechless and sobbing omg. It's been 22 years he was doing his duty . I will never forget what he taught me with his example 😢 RIP he was one of a kind
Orio was a certified BAMF
Yepp, Philly D fan?
Don’t ever delete this. It’s a historical record. Thanks for posting. RIP to those lost.
That “Tommy” guy knew he was going to get stuck in the elevator shaft. It sounds like he got stuck in there with 10 injured civilians he was asked to escort out. I’m assuming they never made it. RIP to him, Orio and all others who never made it that day
No Tommy died in the collapse of the south tower . His brother was also on duty that day , but he survived . Sadly he passed away 2 years ago from cancer related to that day . There are now as many firemen have passed since that day , due to illness related to the crap they breathed in , that day and during the search for survivors . It's really awful 😞
@@TheSavagederek thank you for the response. Very sad, it struck me that you could hear in his voice the imminent danger he felt of having to enter the elevator, but like a true hero he did. Every single one of the firemen that day were and are heroes
@@TheSavagederekHello, you're confused with the Tommy's, the Tommy u refer to is Tommy Foley, who was in Rescue 3 company, the Tommy in the recording is Thomas W.Kelly, who was a FF from Ladder 15. And the brother of Tommy who died recently was Daniel Foley, he was in Rescue 3 too but at the time of the attacks in 2001 he was working in Ladder 49 company. Sorry for my english btw.
I will never forget that name. Orio Palmer.
I cant believe it’s been 22 yrs. Time sure does fly!
Never forget, I will never forget. 🇺🇸❤️✌🏻🇺🇸. God bless the USA!
All of us....let's be like Orio!!
My heart sank when the radio stopped. I think the tower came down
Yes 2 minutes later. It's possible they have removed the last two minutes to respect their memory and family members.
This dude is a hero. If only the towers would've stayed up, I have no doubt the firemen would've gotten to the people and put out the fires. You can hear the certainty in Orio's voice that they were going to handle it. If only they had more time.
Yep in Tower 2 they had a little easier time. If you can call it that. But in Tower 1 the impact point was so far up and there was no access to the floors above. Nobody was getting to them or fighting the fires up there for hours.
They wouldnt have put the fires out, that gameplan was actually abandoned for 2 reasons. Whether they were aware of it at the time or not, the impact severed the stand pipes at the impact zones. Before sending firefighters up, the command post decided they would just search and rescue and forget about putting the fire out. You are absolutely correct though, if the buildings would have stood for an hour or 2 longer each, they would have been able to save hundreds of more lives, especially in the south tower as that had at least one working elevator. Even though the emergency fire hose lines were severed at the impact point, they would have still been able to contain small pockets of fires in the stairwells that were impeding escape routes and would have been able to break open escape doors that were jammed shut. It was a really raw deal for first responders that day, but at least they died attempting to rescue people. They did everything they possibly could have
@dr00andrew Very good point about the standing pipes.
@@dr00andrew In the North Tower, I think had it stood for hours, First Responders would have gotten into the impact area and rescued anyone there. But, sadly I dont think there was much hope for those above due to the intense fires, smoke, and the long timeline req to get up there.
At 11:20 he sees Ronald bucca!! ..... these men.. all of them were such brave souls. God bless them
The last 3mins 36secs is black.
Heroes.
13:44 that fire alarm is scary
GOD bless all who were innocent and died.
It sounds like at one point, those in Tower 1 were confused about why some of them were in Tower 2. Did they take a while to find out that Tower 2 got hit, while they were in the other one?
Everyday i thank god that there are brave men and women willing to put on the uniform who would willingly give their lives to save others. These people are the very best of us, and their loss is still felt today. There really are no words that are enough to describe them, their courage, bravery, love and heart that they showed that day. I just hope and pray we dont see another attack. We have opened ourselves up to it with our wide open borders.
So many radio issues, despite being in towers right next to each other?
bro they are literally encased in a massive edifice of concrete and steel- i imagine that the stairwells in particular had very poor signal reception
Hero doesn't even describe this man's actions.
Chills…2023 and I still get chills …Hero’s each and every one of them..R.I.P. 💔🌹🇨🇦
Rip will never forget
13:22 someone groaning in the background
RIP Hero❤
So cute watching a kitty learn its motor skills.
Mr. Palmer, there will never be another like your kind. May the heroism of your brothers & sisters and yours live throughout the ages of time. May we NEVER FORGET. RIP Orio Palmer
I am sorry I disagree. My late husband was a retired firefighter I'm Dade County, Miami, Florida. He was one of those brave men that waded through the Everglades through alligators and water moccasins to reach the Eastern Airlines that crashed. Men like Orio exist. Orio was special because he was a runner, God bless him there was nothing he could have done even if the building had not fallen. It is impossible to fight a fire that high and that intense. My husband when he learned of the Towers, he told his men, to go home and pray for all involved. He owned a construction business. He came home. When I got home he was watching and crying. We, my husband and I sat and watched and cried.
Orio represents THE best of humanity
Last nite while watching the Braves game lol
15:19 you can feel the urgency in 7 Alpha's message. Fire alarms going off in the background is also chilling
😆😆😆
