Strasburg Rail Road (with #90 and #611), August 19-20, 2021
Footage from two days at Strasburg in August 2021. On Thursday, August 19, we were part of the "Fire Up 611 Experience," watching and helping as the crew brought 611 online from a cold start. Plenty of run-by action as Strasburg's #90 handled the day's excursions. Then on Friday, August 20, we join 611 again for the morning hostling tour before heading out on the first trip to Paradise at 11:00 am, riding on the open platform of the “Hello, Dolly” car with a handful of excited railfans. Finally, we catch some additional 611 runs at various crossings over the course of the day (enjoy the brief “adventures in tripodding” at 33:48 🤣)!
(Please note that some of the video clips were taken with a still camera, hence the lower FPS.)

Horseshoe Curve Railfanning (Amtrak, Norfolk Southern), August 21, 2021
Переглядів 30411 місяців тому
After two days in Strasburg visiting with the 611, we made our way to the Altoona area for some railfanning. First up was a stop in Gallitzin to catch Amtrak 42, then on to the Curve. After over two hours of no traffic whatsoever, Norfolk Southern served up seven trains in an hour and a half, capped by a super lucky (for us) appearance of the Pennsylvania heritage unit, 8102. Enjoy!

Throwback! Some footage (and photos) from two days at Harrison, NJ in the summer of 2012: Monday, July 2 and Friday, August 17. As much information as I recorded at the time, or that I can glean from the public timetables, is included as overlay. Enjoy! The eastbound NJT set at 7:45 might be X316 (Deadhead from Jersey Avenue), rather than 3256. It is coming from Track 2 in Newark Penn which wou...

Shown are all 79 trains that passed Harrison, NJ between 7:00am and 10:00am. According to the timetable, the only things missing are two Raritan Valley turns (5714 to 5413, and 5420 to 5415) that must have happened in Newark Penn rather than Hudson Yard. Other notes: Amtrak 190 was running 50 minutes late Amtrak 141 was running 40 minutes late Amtrak 2151 was running 10 minutes late NJT 3222 wa...
Hudson River Railfanning (Amtrak, Metro-North, CSX), July 20-21, 2023

Some quick video captures from two days on the Hudson River, first at Peekskill and then across the Bear Mountain Bridge at Mine Dock Park. We see the Metro-North "Beachball" heritage unit, a CSX autorack with both GE and EMD power, and an unusual Amtrak Empire Service consist with Amfleet II coaches, a Northeast Regional cafe car, and a regular club-dinette. Please forgive the shutter-clicking...

Some video captures from a week of railfanning on and around the NEC. We visit Bound Brook, Philadelphia, Princeton Junction, Elizabeth, Secaucus, and finally Hunterspoint Avenue in Queens. Appearances from several heritage units (including CSX 1973/Chessie System, NJT 4502/Armed Forces, AMTK 642/Veterans, NJT 4109/CNJ and NJT 4101/NJDOT), an Acela II yard move, two 150 MPH Acelas at Princeton ...

All the action at Harrison, NJ between 3:10pm and 7:30pm. 102 trains! The only one I missed was Keystone 650, but that equipment returns as 651. You'll see every other train on the schedule with these exceptions: Amtrak 94, running 2 hours 40 minutes late Amtrak 137, running 1 hour 50 minutes late Amtrak 55, running 1 hour 5 minutes late NJT 3272 and 3279, both running late due to a disabled tr...
Evening Rush on the Northeast Corridor (Amtrak and NJ Transit), August 9, 2019

Early evening at my favorite train-watching spot: Harrison, NJ, just across the Passaic River from Newark Penn Station. Shot from the parking garage behind the westbound PATH platform. Shown are all 62 NJ Transit and Amtrak trains between 5:23 pm and 8:00 pm, although nothing came through after about 7:45 due to an incident at North Elizabeth. Also note that Track 4 in Newark Penn was OOS durin...

Awesome trains 💯👍
Awesome 😎
2 months before the incident.
Great views from a fresh location. I would like to railfan there from Ohio. Looks like you filmed from a parking deck and got great views. Did anyone hassle you about filming from that deck? Can you park and film from there? Thanks so much!
Even though these trains aren’t as fast as anything European related, They at least get the job done.
Thank you for the unintended side-by-side comparisons with PATH! 9:21 | 25:58 | 30:02 | 32:14 | 40:17 | 43:13 As you can tell, PATH is not a part of the US Railway Network. Because of this, PATH trains do not share trackage with NJT & Amtrak. Only roadbed and/or stations are shared -- such as at Hoboken, Harrison and Newark Penn.
Nice
Sweeeeeet
US. trains with that useless bell !.
very nice
Nice video!
I was filming at peekskill last week. Had the same problem with wind noise, so yesterday bought a premium wind muff for my panasonic hcx2. Hope to return to peekskill in the fall. But its a 9 hour drive from ohio.
Thanks for the video. The NJT 4549 was shown at the Open Day 2023 at the Alstom plant in Kassel/ Germany. Greetings from Berlin/ Germany. Sven
Thank you for not zooming.
Learned that the hard way (see my 2001 video)! 😂 Thanks for watching!
How do you track the trains and more specifically, How do you track the New Jersey Transit deadheads?
@@ajp31 well, that really is useful. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it
1:26 the dude could’ve walked a few feet to his right and thrown that drink into a proper trash bin but no, he just threw it onto the tracks. This is why we cant have nice things. Anyways nice vid
OMG I never noticed that! Sheesh! 😂 Thanks for watching!
TRAIN ASMR
Sweeeeeet
I can see and smell the original interiors on those Comet II’s…some with white tile floors and brown fixed seats, most with brown carpeted floors with orange/brown flippable seats. The new (Comet IIM) interiors are now as old as those were and it shows. They might even be holding up worse.
hey what editor/website do you use to put your clips together for 4k quality?
iMovie will do it, but I use Final Cut Pro for HDR export.
i have windows, anything you recommend for it. I dont have apple computer@@ajp31
Never knew there's a baggage-viewliner mix car
Nice angle. I never knew this could be done in Harrison Edit: 1:08….oh
Swweeeeet
That Pennsylvania heritage unit looks really good. It realky suits that body shape
Curious if anyone saw the Pennyslvanian in the vid ? #42 NYC arrival @4:50 pm
It was running late; see it at 29:50 in the video.
No one mentioned that the locomotive at 54:45 was painted and detailed to look like the old Pennsylvania RR GG1s.
I see that pass by The Portal North Bridge Project site. Very nice Penn RR heritage unit. Great capture!
Magnificent catches of the trains coming by and pass, i like it stars, keep up the great work, my friend, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.
If only we could have some like here in the Pacific northwest
Cascade Corridor when?
depressing
Not going to lie it kind looks like the year 2001 a little bit since Arrows III, Comets, and original Acela train are still in service but along with more modern equipment
That's the cool thing about the multilevels: You're on three levels of train.
thanks for making this i love watching the trains go by
Even though it’s not an American priority, you really need to appreciate the anount of passenger rail service there is on the Northeast Corridor. I also appreciate the amount of work that went into this video. Kudos!
That’s makes the infrastructure improvements, especially the bridges and tunnels leading in and out of NYC, of paramount importance.
Fascinating. Is that just outside New York?
Yes it’s at Harrison PATH station, it’s a shame the trains don’t run faster through there
Just east of Newark Penn Station.
New Jersey
I have an idea. Let's make a railroad that is loudest possible, clunky, and more loud. Oh, wait a sec, someone already did that.
i like the sound
Legit first 4 clips have rare locos!😂
We had good luck on our trip! Thanks for watching!
These trains are ugly-slow
If you like speed, Harrison is not the place for you. 😂 It's all about the incredible density of trains.
Are you okay? Does this area look like the place you’d see high speed trains piercing the air!? Man some of y’all just don’t know shit
Not to mention Newark Penn station is right next to Harrison every single train stops there.
Your comment is silly
Actually for a Central station an 45-30mph approach Is pretty standard around the world. Every train passing the route stops here, so they need to slow down anyways.
Awesome shots in this video! Just subscribed
Thank you!
@@ajp31 No problem down to return the favor?
is it ok to stand up there. its on my list to see.
We've done it several times and never been bothered. On this trip we actually parked our car in the garage so we had a valid excuse to be there!
dang he uploaded again
Like clockwork every four years 😂
I miss 2312.
That summer marked the midpoint of my high school years, and I took the Raritan Valley line and then PATH to school most days. Seeing those pre-overhaul Comet IIs, I can still see the orange-and-brown seats, the carpeted aisles, and the woodgrain wall panels. I always took the mismatched sets of Comet II's and IBs we got on the RVL to mean we were unloved compared to the other two lines of the Newark division, which got full sets of either Comet IIIs or IVs for their push-pull trains, and of course had the Arrow IIIs that I was so jealous of. I know everybody (except me) hates them now but having grown up along a diesel-only line they were very impressive to me when I was a kid.
I’ve never been to this station
12 years later, still one of my favorite all time video’s
Raritan valley line trains actually do go to NY Penn station on weekdays
nice
Why is an hhp8 pulling a metroliner?
The AEM-7s and HHP-8s were used interchangeably on NortheastDirect, Regional, and Metroliner Service trains.
@@ajp31 but I thought AEM7 was meant to be a metroliner engine
