This is the performance for which I did the choreography in the first place. There's an interesting story behind the choreography and the music.
I have always loved working with Rabindrasangeet, be it a Dance or a Song (will talk more about this later) cover. There was a program in my department at the university and I was simply looking after the dance rehearsals. As I was in my last year of university life, I was not going to perform, but rather direct the performances for the juniors. The same goes for my crazy friend Tasnima Asa who you can see performing in this video with me.
But Alas! One of our most favorite and respectable teachers (yes I'm talking about assistant professor Md Hammadul Hoque) DEMANDED that we (Me and Asa) must perform, on a separate choreography, a performance from just the two of us. There was no way for me and Asa to say no to the demand haha.
So I was looking for a piece of music for this and found two tracks I was feeling the choreography on. Asa and I decided on this track.
The music, lyrics, and choreography I did is a perfect reflection of what I was feeling at that time in my life. And my expressions were all based on the feelings in my mind relating to my life to the song.
Now another interesting fact, you see me performing with all the batting emotions, and then there's Asa, all happy and cheerful. Asa was actually sent to a conference in another city just after we finalized the track for our performance and came back the day before the performance.
She only had 3-4 really tiring hours to understand and learn the choreography (this what you see in the video).
No matter how much we practice, our forms never match, people see two different choreographies on stage when we perform. Still, Asa has been my favorite dance partner ever.
I was hesitant to upload this video because we made so many mistakes on stage, etc., for the past three years, and yet I managed to gain the skills to edit an uploadable version of this video and the courage to do so.
Even though the video was scheduled to premiere last Friday night, I wanted to share the story behind it and couldn't make the time to write this, and it took me so long to publish the video finally.
