Rachmaninoff 2nd symphony - 3rd movement full with clarinet solo notation clarinet solo - Nir Marom orchestra - The BMSM Symphony Orchestra This is the cherry on top of every clarinetist cake. i believe that this clarinet solo should be treated as one very long phrase which is impossible without circular breathing, and its is becoming even harder to do since the sound has to go all the distance...

Interesting that the first clarinet played all three of the solos. They’re all in the first clarinet part, but typically the 2nd clarinet plays Eb in the last movement and the 1st clarinet takes the 2nd part.
That's correct but then the situation is not ideal since the Eb needs to wait on the stage for 4 movement without doing anything so we tried it that way this time, it worked out pretty good:)
nice sound and staccato, just watch out for the solfeggio in the first bar😉

Great playing. I especially appreciated your C# trills. I also enjoyed your open somewhat woody sound, which is what makes the clarinet so lush, IMHO.

I think we need to rate instruments. For woodwinds, clarinet is definitely B tier. Flute A tier. Piccolo C tier. Bass clarinet A tier. Contrabass clarinet S tier. Oboe is C tier. But bassoon gets B tier. Saxiphone is D tier. C tier for barirne sax. F for soprano sax. Any disagreements? I'll do brass and strings another time.

Oboe and Bassoon are for sure A tier
Soprano sax is like A or B tier in my opinion. Piccolo would be B tier because I have a bias for smaller instruments. And oboe would be A tier because I play it so bias there
