A Guide for Cycling or Hiking the MONSAL TRAIL | PEAK DISTRICT | Best Walks | Headstone Viaduct
Are you considering cycling or hiking the MONSAL TRAIL in the Peak District? If so, this GUIDE will support you with your journey. I set out to challenge myself by hiking the trail from end-to-end then return to my starting point at WYEDALE car park. The route is officially 8.5 miles but at the end of the challenge I had covered just over 20 miles.
The Monsal Trail is a traffic-free route for walkers, runners, cyclists, horse riders and wheelchair users through spectacular limestone dales with incredible views from places like the iconic Headstone Viaduct (as often seen from Monsal Head).
The trail is 8.5 miles long, stretching at its furthest points between Blackwell Mill in Chee Dale and Coombs Road in Bakewell, with lots of access points connecting to additional footpaths and bridleways. The route is near to Great Longstone, Little Longstone, Cressbrook Mill, Litton Mill and Tideswell Dale.
The route follows the former Manchester to London Midland Railway line, closed in the late 1960s.
Families with young children and pushchairs, wheelchair users, cyclists and strollers will love the Monsal Trail for its easy access and flat surfaces through White Peak hills and dales. There are a number of refreshment stops along the way.

    Truth! I can’t hike often but I at least do daily walks with all my gear down my road for “practice hikes” and I actually noticed my mood and energy is a lot better for the rest of the day if I put in at least 3 miles. I can go longer and often do, but 3 seems to be the sweet spot for me as a daily warm up.

    Be careful with the outer seams when pegging down the Cloud Peak 2, mine ripped after about a year or so of use. It tore along the bottom edge seam on the central panel on the narrow side (between the openings). Shame, and when I contacted them they don’t supply a replacement outer fly sheet….

Basically I just use this on the top now and it basically means I never need to use the noise reduction feature. Had it out in very high winds and no interference. Definitely worth getting in my opinion as the other sponge top kept falling off. Hope it helps.

    The kind of video I ‘LIKE’ before even watching these days. A guaranteed good watch every time and very relaxing. I was looking through the work window that morning around 05:20 trying to keep my eyes open and then I saw the sky and knew someone lucky would be out enjoying that moment. I’ve swam in Dale Dyke and Agden reservoirs under the moon and sunrises, it’s a beautiful part of the Peaks. That’s for taking me along on your adventure from The comfort of my swing chair whilst my workmen are banging my house to bits! A welcome Retreat ❤

    Beautiful in every way Gav, that trig point was a stunner, I thought Kinder Low was high up until Id seen this one..Very nicely edited video, the sunrise was stunning, as was the heather. I really like that camp apot, there looked to be some cracking pitches in and around the rocks. Thanks for sharing, and stay safe. +1 for the poetry - that was my Mams favourite poem, we had had it on our wall, in a pre internet time you used to read everything, cereal packets, wall posters, even instructions! How times have changed, the information age has lost its detail! 🙂

      Thanks for watching Phil, it’s a bit of a unique trig as requires a little bit of a scramble to get to it. Great views once you’re there. Was a bit interesting with the drone as kept getting high wind warnings when sending it up high. With it being mid week was nice and quiet. Can get busy at weekends though. Yeah, love that poem! Often think about it’s message when I’m out and about hiking.

    Is this mic good for outdoor use in traffic situations with horn sounds, vehicle noise, birds, and construction noise? My home is very close to a main road, and it's noisy 24/7. I can't record a video without hearing vehicle horns; they're beeping constantly. I have tried the Asus noise-canceling adapter, but it's not working well with my Android device-it picks up all the road noise too. Could anyone suggest if this mic would solve these problems? Thanks in advance ❤

      Hi, I use mine when hiking outdoors sometimes in very high wind. When used with this>>> comica Pack of 3 Fur Windscreen for Microphone, Mini Microphone Fur Microphone Windscreen Muff, Wind & Pop Filter for Lavalier Microphone/VideoMic/Mobile Phone Microphone (Black) (link from Amazon) I don’t even need to use the noise reduction feature as it cancels it out. I’ve had it a year now and works great for me and for the cheap price it’s definitely worth taking a chance. Hope this helps.

      That’s great. Since I did that video I bought a set of three wind muffs that are perfect for it. They’re so good you don’t need to use the noise reduction feature and there is a drawstring to tighten it onto the mic. Got them from Amazon. Is it possible to attach the lapel clip to a cold shoe mount? I use my iphone for shooting holiday videos and it’s in a vlogging tripod that has a cold shoe mount for accessories. I need a discreet mic that doesn’t take too much space, but I don’t need it on me. So I was wondering how feasible would it be if I purchased this and attached it to the tripod.

    • @HikingForHealth1
      @HikingForHealth1 29 днів тому

      The best results come from when the microphone is placed fairly close to where the sound is being produced so if it’s speech really should be close to the mouth when talking. Hope this helps

    • @marieta.s
      @marieta.s 29 днів тому

      @@HikingForHealth1 no I don’t talk in my videos. It’s mostly recordings of the views of the places etc and then I add music to my videos. I just want the natural sounds to sound better and not have to deal with wind noise. This is why I want to attach it to a cold shoe mount and I really liked its size because it’s very discreet. I own the rode micro but it’s too bulky and attracts unwanted attention.

    • @HikingForHealth1
      @HikingForHealth1 29 днів тому

      Ah for ambient sounds it should be great then. And for that price it’s worth the chance as they’re not very expensive. I like using mine and have no problems with it. I tend not to use the noise reduction feature as I use a muffler over the top “comica Pack of 3 Fur Windscreen for Microphone, Mini Microphone Fur”
