I can never forgive them for ending this iconic number on such an anticlimactic shot - for God's sake, the stage version ended with a RIOT, which would have been so much easier to do on film! Why didn't they include that? Mark even DESCRIBES the shots for them! "The Christmas tree goes up in flames, the snow dances, Roger and Mimi share a small, lovely kiss." How can this director have so little imagination and understanding?

I grew up with this movie/musical. I'm in my 30s now and everyone my age thinks it's stupid now. I guess that's a sign of growing up. I'll admit there are things about it that are unrealistic but I will always have a soft spot for Rent. I love the absolute joy in this scene right before things start to get difficult for all of them.
