Come as you are, bring your questions, and let’s explore together what hope can mean in real, everyday life.

Hope for the Shepherds | Hope is Born | Sermon Message
This week, we continue our Advent series, Hope is Born, by exploring the remarkable story of the shepherds. These ordinary workers experienced an extraordinary encounter that forever changed their lives-and offers us a timeless lesson: We can find the remarkable in our routine.
Through their story, we’ll discover how God chooses the humble and unexpected to be His witnesses, breaking into their ordinary night with an extraordinary message of hope and joy. Just like the shepherds, we are invited to open our eyes to God’s work in our everyday lives.
🙌 Key Takeaways:
God meets us in the middle of our routines and reveals His glory.
Meaningful moments require movement-don’t stay stuck in your comfort zone.
The shepherds’ story reminds us that God’s love reaches all, no matter how ordinary we may feel.
🎄 Join us as we reflect on how the shepherds’ journey can inspire us to see the extraordinary in our own lives this Christmas season.
📖 Scripture Reference: Luke 2:8-20

Even in Joseph’s initial attempts to break off the engagement, he was trying to save Mary’s reputation and future. Then, when he had his own angelic visit he was willing to put his expectations aside to pursue God’s call on his life and protection for his wife. Joseph is a shadow of the greater protection God offered to us by leaving Heaven to experience what we deserve to redeem mankind. This ...

Praise Jesus ❤
Dropped in to see how things are going. Sat in Menlo Park Pres. for 8 years. Never prepared for what 2024 has brought to America. Was wondering if there could be change and could come back. Oh well. Things are rather urgent. At least go vote.
I felt peaceful in Menlo Church yesterday. Thank you. ❤ from San Jose.
It is not the building that we can worship God, but the people who is the church that can reached out to the non Jesus followers. If you just buy a piece of land and put a large tent like circus de solei, (which is cheaper) that could work better. It is the attitude of the people that should be warm and approaching to the new that will reach out to the newbies. No matter where you are in an environment, in the end, it is the people's spirit that reach out to the newbies that will work in the long run. Maybe you need to put your hope in GOD first and set your priorities right. Not to put it in the building but in the hearts of people that matter. When you greet each other - greet with sincerity and not fake smiles! And that is the truth of the matter with Menlo.
I love Rachelle‘s vision to better accommodate ministry to youth and families, and I’d love to see all of those things happen. And I know those things are really just the tip of the iceberg, and that many improvements are also needed to prepare for welcoming and accommodating the needs of other demographics. For instance, when I attended the Mountain View campus, after my husband had his stroke, there really wasn’t a place for me to help him in the bathroom. I ended up taking him in the women’s bathroom a couple of times, but, because there is no handicapped stall, we had to leave the stall door open, and hope that no one would come into the bathroom until we were finished. It became so stressful for my husband that he decided he didn’t want to do church in person anymore. We thanked God that online church was an option, but it didn’t really leave the door open for us to benefit from the encouragement of regularly seeing people in person. Since then, my husband has passed away, and I now live nearer to the Saratoga campus, where I attend, but I know there are others in need of handicapped facilities in the Mountain View area. I am very grateful that our church is taking on the “hope for everyone” project. I look forward to seeing all of our campuses better equipped to welcome families with youth and children, as well as families and individuals with needs like ours.
This is great! Is there a version with lyrics written on the screen?
Great, thought provoking. Thank you.
So his parents named him Jeff in China… I guess

wow! that's cool! I'm from Brazil and got excited to know the city all this happened.
Yooo that is awesome!!!
The movement does not happen without Jesus. Not Donald Trump or the power-hungry leaders of the so called "churches" following Trump
shape and transform!
Powerful sermon, Josh! Love the supplemental podcast content, as usual. Thanks guys!
Thanks for listening!
Hey Josh, I’m glad you’re here with us. I especially resonate with your message of loading our communication with a central message that brings us into alignment with God’s intentions for us at that very moment; and when we can’t find the right words the Holy Spirit groans with us and helps us in our weakness.
Thank you!
And Hes got his work cut out for Himself. But He and only He can do it
I don't believe God is interested so much in saving lives for political reasons as He is in saving souls for Himself. Maybe a Saul moment?
Kingdom people are strengthened by each other. It is a part of our religion. It is NOT a part of Eastern religion.
Yes
Amen❤️✝️🙏🏾
Thank you 🙏
Love it! The joy from everyone there is contagious. More singing! All glory to Jesus. 🙏😍🙏
Amen!
This is a totally subjective perspective, but I seem to languish behind more “cautious” drivers in the mid-lower-peninsula area (Palo Alto, Los Altos, Menlo Park, Atherton). And seem to have to dodge more “carefree“ drivers in the South/East Bay areas. 🤷♀️
Watching from Porto - thanks for posting this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Listening at work and I’m 🥹😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️ I know that is tough, but what a beautiful story. Thank you God for this beautiful testimony 🙌🏻❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks for listening!!
These two invited me to church on Easter Sunday, 1983. I wasn't going to go, but somehow ended up there. It was Saratoga Presbyterian then. My life has never been the same since. I thank God everyday for what's He's done and is still doing and for these two who cared for me in my raw state at that time.
Wowww such an amazing story! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks Mark for your thoughtful questions that leads to Phil clarifying things in the Sunday sermon. Phil really appreciated your thoughts on exegetical and expositional reading of Scripture and preaching
Glad it was helpful!
Ahhh thx for shout out
😮
As to the listening part... this has been the most helpful thought I have ever heard.... Being listened to is so close to being loved that for most people can't tell the difference - David Augsburger
So loved all the pint sized Hallelujahs in the room. This series has been SO helpful. (the link to the resource guide is broken - I'd love a pdf version of the refridgerator magnet!
Many people have their hackles up still with factual information. Many people can't face they are wrong.
🎉❤Congratulations!!!✝️🙏🙏🙏
