    Im debating on doing my pool myself. I dont know what I should do if i should just pour plaster over my old delaminated plaster? Or should i rip off all of my old plaster and follow your steps?

    Did you do the acid wash in the pool prior to resurfacing? I know you did it in the spa. And you said you were going to do it in the pool. I’m doing this exact task right now but possibly skipping the acid wash because it doesn’t look like I really need it. I don’t have calcium buildup.🤷🏼‍♂️ @danbury210

    Overview of material costs ( I had most of the tools). Side-Crete Plaster 15-bags $2242 used everyone, cut it too close for 14,000 gallon pool. Slider-Crete Repair (1-bag) & M50 (1-gallon) cost $150, 18” Magic Trowel $42, total material cost $2,431. Miscellaneous tools must have quality combination chisel/hammer drill, tape, rollers, brushes another $500. The hot tub costs are separate from above, I used actual pool plaster on it, that was probably another $500.

    Hat’s off to you and your wife for attempting to do this project! I am a pool owner in Canada as well as I am blessed to have a vacation home in California with a pool. Both pools require a lot of maintenance and over the years I feel that pools are a HUGE expense if you have to always call the pool companies to come and fix issues that you are having. Not only that, it seems you are always waiting and waiting for them to show up. Always excuses why they can’t be there. I have found a way to get through it. DO THE WORK AND REPAIRS YOURSELF . If you can. I’m going to be renovation my californien pool this winter and my wife and I will be trying this Sider Crete system. We are very handy and work well together( 37 years). I am not prepared to pay thousands and thousands of dollars for a resurfaced pool when we think this system can work for many years if proper systems are followed by manufacturer. Yes. It’s going to be very hard work and a few long days, but that what makes it all worth saving the money…. I think when it’s all said and done, we will be proud of what we accomplished as well as the look we desired as you and your wife should be. Job well done buddy!!!

    I have a 20X40 concrete pool built sometime in the 50's. It's 44,000 gals of water. It's 10 feet deep on the deepest end. I have P W and acid washed it to paint it several times over the years. We have lived here 52 years so of course now it really needs complete resurface which at 85 yrs. old I know I can't handle alone. Pool companies here in Fl. want $25,000. or more to do it. Not sure if I could use the product you did due to it being concrete. I do have some much younger friends that possibly I could get to help. I would never do it during the summer as we would all end up toast. Pools built here in my county aren't allowed to be over 6 feet deep and no diving boards which I really miss. You and your wife made a great team. I am a widow now but my husb. never did like the pool when we bought this place so I have always been the maintenance person in charge of it. Can't bring myself to fill it in with dirt and besides the next owner might enjoy as much as I and my kids, grand, and great grand kids have. You should be so proud of yourselves and have a real sense of accomplishment.

    When you put that roll-on plaster over the tape that you masked off the tiles, was it difficult to remove with the hardened plaster dried on. I’m thinking about doing this job pretty much exactly like you have done it, and I was curious if I should peel the tape off while the plaster is wet and then for the second coat tape again. I am a new pool owner and destroyed my finish like you mentioned you did. I also have some tiles imbedded on the steps. So peeling the tape off when the plaster is wet is what I’m thinking. You did a great job with the video. Thank you so much! Anthony

    I noticed your cantilevered umbrella - very smart! I’m a wuss working in hot weather, so I cover small areas with umbrellas. For large areas I suspend shade canopies and/or tarps. I keep a big roll of cord & a bunch of carabiners so they go up fast.

    How smooth is the finish?

    • @Danbury210
      @Danbury210 Рік тому

      It is pretty smooth. I could have done a better job troweling, I have some trowel lines. I wish I would have spent the time sanding the trowel lines down for a smoother surface. I have a in floor pool cleaning system (popup jets), the thing I have noticed is the trowel lines don't allow the jets to swipe the dirt as good as before so I do have to spend more time brushing.

    Hey buddy, I am proud of you and your wife for taking on such a big DIY project. I am 55 and will be resurfacing my pool. The job will be almost like yours. My pool has some damage on the walls and floor with a few holes. I live in Florida, so I know I will have to work very fast, and I will need to fix the light which I would like to add to the Multicolor. I had a company giving me an estimate and it was a little pricy at $7,500 with the light. I understand it is business, something out of the budget for now. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. -Jorge

      It has been 6-months now, still holding up well. It seems to stain a lot easier than my original pool plaster. I have had some issues controlling my algae this year (not the plasters fault).

      I did mine back in 2019 and it’s held up very well. I suggest you give it a few extra days to cure so the product doesn’t come of when you use the pool cleaner. I wounded if the sell any sealant. This may help more. Good luck

    I had to log in and say thanks. I replaced my cartridge a few days ago but for some reason it was still only getting luke warm. I've replaced a few of these in the 18 years in our home but never encountered something like that. I was getting ready to call a plumber, but saw your video, especially the part at 3:35 where you adjusted the temperature. That did the trick! Surprising that it came adjusted like that, but lesson learned. Thanks again!
