Nature with Jared
Приєднався 2 лип 2020
While I'm learning how to create videos, I'm mainly focusing on the topic of ethical hunting. --\u003e
Primarily focused on wild Sambar and fallow deer in my local area of northeast Victoria, Australia.
Sambar and fallow deer are introduced pests here, damaging the natural environment.
I also love and respect them. I hunt them for food in the most humane way I can.
In future I'd also like to create videos about fishing, work/life balance, self employment, relationships, value creation etc.
These are all topics I love learning about and have a good amount of experience with.
If you're interested in any of these topics feel free to subscribe and follow along as I do my best to share and improve with each new video.
Hopefully the videos I create help others have great experiences and live more enjoyable and healthy lives 😊🙏

Great video Jared 😊
Thank you 🙏😊😊😊
Good stuff Ellie-babe!
Thanks Gandalf 😄
hey mate love the videos, what general area is this?. The country looks very nice for a bush walk
Hey mate 😊 thank you, glad you're enjoying the videos! This was roughly around the kiewa valley area. I can't say exactly where as the locals would be cross haha but yeah there's deer everywhere up here
Great footage Jared!! Getting that close is rare!!
Thanks Adam 😊 haha certainly had my heart racing that's for sure 😄
A day in the bush is never wasted, I live in Kiewa Valley and recognise that spot. It always has a couple of deer.
Couldn't agree more mate 😊 and awesome kiewa valley is a gorgeous spot, looking forward to going fishing there soon!
just stumbled across your content Jared, your doing good work mate.
Hey mate, thanks so much for letting me know! Really appreciate all the feedback 😊😊😊
Very impressed with your overall approach to hunting. Especially not taking a shot where you’re uncertain of what could happen if you miss. Well done!!
Thanks so much for the comment Adam, really appreciate that mate. And yeah I'm super impressed with Alistair for being so calm and patient and thinking about the animals welfare and not just his own excitement. Really happy you enjoyed the video mate and thanks again 🙏😊
Just came across your channel. Awesome video and well done for harvesting a deer!!
Awesome Adam thank you so much mate and really appreciate the feedback 🙏😁
Epic video mate . These kind of stalks are few and far between but what dreams are made of 👏
Thank you so much mate really appreciate the feedback and support and yeah couldn't be happier with that Hunt really looking forward to the next adventure 😁
Nice to see a newbie not just taking pot shots 👌 keep em comming great work guys
Thanks so much mate really appreciate the support, haha I've tried replying about three times and my comment keeps getting lost in the internet somewhere 😅 but hopefully if this reply comes through just thank you so much man really appreciate it
Well done guys
Thanks heaps Dan 😊😊
Well done fellas
Thanks Allan 😊😊
Hey Jared, really appreciate your videos and the way you present yourself as a hunter in the this day and age. I’ve only been in the game for a couple of years and with an expected mix of success and learning experiences. Ultimately animal welfare is paramount over poor decisions and from what I’ve seen in quite a bit of hunting media exposure is keep doing what you’re doing. Hunters at heart love and respect nature. 👍🏻
Good morning mate, just sitting having my morning coffee and just thought I'd say really love your comment mate.. I couldn't agree more and just thank you 😊🙏 hopefully sharing more videos explaining that kind of thing really helps the public see a different side to hunting and just how humane it can be when it's done that way. I'm really happy you've had some success already too 😊
Nice rifle. I just put a scope on my mew mod 70 super grade today. Havnt even fired a shot yet. Nice hunt aswell of course 😂👍
Awesome mate, hope you have some luck with the new scope! I'm still using a little 3-7x40 Leupold scope, it's been great for ages and good up close, but seeing how well Allisters scope worked to take a headshot like that, I'm considering an upgrade when I can afford it 😄
Another awesome video Jared. Well done to both you and Al on an ethical hunt for venison. Out of interest what caliber was Al’s Winchester Model 70 in? Thanks for sharing! 🙏
Hi mate 😊 thanks so much, we had so much fun was a fantastic day in the bush 😁 I think from memory his was a .308 but I'll have to double check next time I chat to him
@@oncall21 hey mate yeah it’s 308 shooting 168 grain Hornady whitetail
@@allistertempleton the Winchester Model 70 Super Grade is a beautiful rifle. 👌
@@oncall21 yeah I’m very happy with it, it’s probably a little too nice to be scratching through the blackberries but it’s a beautiful reliable rifle
Good teamwork
Thanks mate 😊🙏
Great video thanks for sharing your awesome moments
Hi Richard, thanks heaps mate, really happy you enjoyed it! 😊🙏
Great video mate
Thanks Nic, glad you liked it! 😊🙏
@@Naturewithjared you make it look easy
@@nickiuga89 I think I just do it so often eventually you get lucky 😅 it really helps loving close to some great hunting spots to being able to duck out often
@@Naturewithjared yes for sure but you still have to put hard yards well done mate ,you inspired me
Thanks so much mate, sitting having my morning coffee reading that and put a big smile on my face 😊
Great Video Jared, I had such a great time hunting together and lots of laughs! Thanks again for taking me out! Here’s to many more trips 🎉
Absolutely mate, was such a awesome day.. can't wait for the next adventure 😁😁👍
Can we go hunting i am.in lilydale and have my own private yards if your intrested
Hey mate, thanks for the message, would you like to send us a email at naturewithjared@gmail.com and can have a chat about maybe organising something 😊
@@Naturewithjared I am not good at emails do you have Facebook
@@flex90z_____sorry mate, email and UA-cam are the only ones I really use at the moment, but if you let us know your email I can message you 😊
Awesome video, and great to meet Allister! You two look like you’re having heaps of fun. Good on Allister for waiting for the right shot. 🦌
Thanks Bree, he's a pretty lovely fella hey 😊
Awesome stag.!!! However, animals don't pass away, they die.!!! 😂
Haha thanks mate 😊 aren't they the same thing? 😄 Heading out again this morning with a mate to try for another one 😁
Great video mate. I like the idea a lot and you’ve motivated me to go ahead and write out a letter to drop into mailboxes. Also, what camera are you using to zoom in? I’d like to start recording some wildlife but I’m not too tech savvy.
Hey mate, I was really happy to read your comment, that's awesome you found the video motivating! And yeah absolutely, give it a go. Worst case you don't hear back, but you never know you might get lucky! And I use a Canon PowerShot sx70, it was about $1,000 and super easy to use as I'm not tech savvy either haha I just use auto mode and it's great
@@Naturewithjared Thanks for your reply mate, I’ll look into getting something like that and trying to capture some decent footage. Looking forward to your upcoming content, keep up the great work.
Awesome mate, thank you really appreciate that and yeah for sure would love to see some footage of you get lucky 😁
Mate I have a suggestion for you re: shooting on dusk. Consider investing in a Pard clip on infrared. They aren't that expensive and actually work really well. The only caveat is you either need a scope with parallax adjustment, or that bottoms out at 1x to be able to get both the crosshair and scope image in focus at the same time. The infrared on its own works great at dusk without needing to use the attached IR illuminator. With the illuminator you can take clean ethical shots in full dark if you want to. I vastly prefer an IR for taking the actual shot at dusk/in dark over something like a thermal because it gives you clear vision of both your quarry and the terrain.
Mate, thanks so much for the tip! I hadn't ever actually considered something like that, but sounds really interesting! Generally if right on/after dark we just sit until we're pretty sure where the animal is and then use an olight spotlight on it before shooting. Mostly that works ok but it often feels really rushed before the deer bolts. I'm gonna look into that though man thank you 🙏😊
Hey bro if your in vic with the regulations changed you can only use hand held thermals no thermals scopes or clip ons if you think iam wrong go look up the whole thing and read it I can foresee alot of people coming undone by this of course if you are hunting on private property this doesn't apply you can use whatever you like
Hey mate, thanks heaps for the tip! Yeah I think with the new regs you can use handheld thermals in public land during the day now. But yeah not rifle mounted ones. Private land is much easier can use whatever pretty much
Hey Jared great video mate always great informative content. How big was the property you and Dan were on ? Even a rough size? Thanks.
Hey Deanno 😊 thanks mate this one really isn't very big at all, I can't remember exactly but I think maybe like 10 acres of bush maybe? That's probably wrong haha I'm not the best with measurements but yeah not a huge block. It backs on to a huge regional park though that's off limits for hunting so the deer breed up like crazy
@@Naturewithjared oh wow, that is smaller than i expected but bigger than the private land that i have access to lol. Good to see you making the most of what you got. Happy hunting mate all the best.
Same to you mate 🙏😊
Awesome! I printed up 100 flyers the other day and plan to hand them out to the properties around where my Grandparents live when I head up over the school holidays
Awesome Michael! Really hope you have some luck mate 😊 what rough area do they live?
@@Naturewithjared Jamieson
Awesome mate, really hope you have some luck I've never hunted around the but I've heard it's a good spot 😊

Cheers Matto 🙏😊
Commentary that is easy to listen.
Thank you John 😊🙏
Great hunting trip and good result too, awesome venison for salamies team, enjoyed the trip, thumbs up and greetings,, Tony.
Thanks so much Tony, very happy you liked the video, happy hunting 😁
Great job mate , quick question what rifle calibre you using for this hunt?
I reckon 308..
Hey mate 😊 sorry for slow reply, I've tried replying like 3 times and for some reason the comment disappears 😅 but it's actually a .30-06 tikka T3. It's a wonderful rifle can highly recommend
@@Naturewithjared Very nice, I have the same tikka but in 308win
Awesome mate, hope you've been having some luck hunting? 🙂
@@Naturewithjared I’ve done around 8 trips chasing sambar I missed once and couldn’t not shoot twice because I was so shocked by the size of the stag I saw, I was about 20 meters away from him in thick bush it took me by surprise I’m going back again in few more weeks, hopefully I’ll get lucky this time 🤞
Great video, and you're dead on the money too. I target similar fringe areas as the ones you're highlighting here and have had good success doing so. I find that if you have three things; 1. Farmland adjacent to the bush that's good for grazing. 2. Gully systems nearby with dense stuff to bed up in. 3. Water sources (eg. a creek running down one of the gullies) There will invariably be deer there. Being camouflaged up and static in one of those systems from mid afternoon to last light can yield great success. In fact from my experience much more consistent success than traditional spot and stalk hunting.
Thanks so much for sharing your comments mate, that's awesome you've had similar experiences and success like that I'm slowly coming more and more around to preferring exactly what you said, just tucking yourself into a little gully in a place like that from mid afternoon to last light and letting them come to you. It can be really fun doing the morning stalk, but yeah I think overall I've got more deer just waiting and letting them come to me. They're so sneaky haha very hard to sneak up on them 😅
@NaturewithJared cheers. The only flaw in this strategy is you end up butchering and packing out meat in the dark 😂
Haha absolutely 😅 it's not so bad if you're close to the car, but butchering and packing out a long way in the dark can be interesting!
G’day guys its great to see brothers stalking Sambar deer together. Thanks for posting your videos for all to enjoy.I would like to see you both glassing with binoculars to help confirm that you are in fact looking at a deer.Just some friendly safety advice after hunting deer for some time now.Continued good hunting to you both.Cheers, Rob.
Thanks Rob, really appreciate the comment 😊 and yeah I think you're right too, I did think about it afterwards, it's not the best just using the scope to check stuff out, if it was another hunter up there they'd be pretty upset to have someone looking at them through a scope instead of binos 😅 it's the second hunt I'd forgotten to bring mine but I appreciate the reminder 😊😊
Congratulations Jared and Dan. Excellent break down of a successful hunt. Now the hard part begins. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much mate, really appreciate the comment and encouragement 😊😊 haha it really was a lot of work afterwards but so worth it 😁
Best video yet, great hunt and what a stud old stag he was! keep it up
Thanks mate 😊 haha he really was! Looking forward to catching up in a couple weeks 😁
another great vid, thanks for sharing so much wisdom for new and old hunters alike to learn from!
Thanks mate, really appreciate the comments and encouragement 😁
You nailed it! TRUE respect for the environment and ultimately this remarkable animal.
Mate, thank you for the really lovely comment, put a big smile on my face to read 😊🙏
Your videos are GOATed. I can't wait to get my first sambar, God willing. I've only ever taken a fallow. Thanks for the effort mate.
Haha mate I had to look up what GOATed means, I've never actually heard that phrase before, but after I looked it up, was really happy to understand haha 😄 thank you though Kevin, really appreciate the support and feedback mate, I wish you all the best on getting your first Sambar, they are very tricky to hunt but will worth persisting for 🙏😊😊😊
well done fellas ,excellent shot and explanation
Thank you Allen, really appreciate that mate, I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊😊😊

Another great video - well done. Good to see a couple of genuine guys just enjoying what they’re doing. Enjoyed your reaction - it doesn’t change does it?
