Great video Darren. The Neo looks really impressive!
Thanks Richard I love it so far. I'm about to publish the next one from my lunch run
I see you recorded the audio with the DJI Mic 2 but how can you then add it to the video footage? I think the phone needs to be unlocked all the time, that this works?
I actually didn't. I forgot to turn the mic on so all audio is from the Action 4. If I had turned it on it would have recorded directly to the Action 4 because it's paired as a wireless mic. Next time I'll make sure to turn the Mic on to get better audio. I was still impressed with the quality from the Action 4 anyway.
@@DarrenMansell ah okay... I have the Neo too, but I am not sure how to add audio. I learned that I can use the phone mic or the DJI Mic paired to the phone, but the phone needs to be unlocked that this works. And of course I can't have my phone unlocked when I am doing following videos with the Neo. It's a bit annoying that the Mic can be paired with the drone itself...
@voglon I think the easiest way will be to just record directly onto the Mic and copy the audio files off to combine the audio and video in a video editor afterwards.
Can anyone explain the hidden bonus of tightly pressing the drones between both hands before take off? Or does grandpa need explaining why the drone wont take off half the time?
You have to hold the button down until it counts down and takes off. This was my first time with the drone so I wasn't sure how long to hold it. That was the purpose of my comment "it'll just take off when it wants to" meaning you just hold the button until it forces itself up and you don't have to time it accurately.
all the best ive seen of the neo is blokes on bikes..a must carry tool is a drone......i got 2 batts for neo so mini can cool before fresh batt change 1hr 30 mins combine
It's ideal for the glamour shots. I've just bought another battery and I might get the battery case too so I can charge on the go if I want to record lots.

Oh my Goodness! I was on the same cruise on that exact same date! Small world! 😀
Im getting the tavascan in January, i wanted the born but needed slightly more space ,the seats are audi rs4 level good
Just returned from 14 days down to the Canaries, Cadiz and Morocco. Never been with MSC before and won’t be returning! Absolutely awful experience and so pleased to be back home, even if it is raining. I likened it to a Butlins ‘booze cruise’! Cut off jeans and flip flops to dine in, really!
I was onboard October last year, on a cruise down to Spain that got diverted because of a forecast for severe weather in Northern Spain, watching bring back happy memories. Travelled with Fantastica package so got to select my cabin and early meal time, when I missed the meal time I just went to the buffet. The two carousel shows were very good, well worth watching. Since then I have travelled on a different ship, the slightly smaller size but still large Spendida, it is amazing how the ship's features have evolved, it makes the older (small) ships look and feel ... old. I hope to take the same trip as you did in a year or two, thanks for broadcasting.

25th I think. We got back to Southampton on the Friday

As a recent purchaser of a Born V2, a lot of your likes and dislikes apply equally to the regular Borns as they do to your VZ. One thing I picked up on in your video was about the panel that you can swipe down from the top of the touchscreen. You commented about not being able to choose which icons are available (I think you wanted the speed warning toggle), and you can actually choose which ones are displayed. Just press and hold on one of the icons and a further menu bar opens below it where you can pick and choose the icons you want and where you want them displayed. There’s also a favourite setting icon at the far left which you can configure to have e.g. lane & speed warning off, although I haven’t quite figured out how that works exactly. Anyway, hope you find this useful.
Hi Paul. It doesn't remember the speed warning favourite. Everything else it does. I was complaining about not being able to save that specific one as a favourite. If you can set it and it remembers on yours then maybe it's a bug/feature with the newer gen hardware and v5 software.
@@DarrenMansell Ah ok, maybe different hardware/software versions as mine has let me add the speed warning icon to the 6 'favourite' icons. It always reverts to on each time you start the car, but at least its easy to get to if it needs turned off.
So what's the conclusion?
I think you'll need to draw your own. We both cycled everything on the video perfectly easily with both bikes and neither had a huge advantage or disadvantage. In muddier conditions you'd want the wider tyres which a Defy can't fit.
@@DarrenMansell and that's the conclusion I was looking for 🙂

@@DarrenMansell that's alright. You already provided the info on the comments 🙂 I am in thr market to buy a bike in another week. Considering 2024 Defy which had clearances till 40mm.
@@adityanathan that'll be fine for everything except very muddy areas. In sticky mud the tighter clearance will gather around the bottom bracket and clog up. Everything else will be fine
How are you all getting on with range on a long range born ? I know it won't get near the 330 miles but was wondering as I'm very interested in a long range v3 model
It will do 330 miles fairly easily in the right conditions. A consistent 40 mph with air con off will probably see more like 360-380. Real world in the summer you'd probably be on for 330 but you wouldn't want to charge above 80% regularly and wouldn't let the battery get anywhere near 0% so almost nobody will ever see what their full range is. Outside temperature and air con and headwind etc will all affect range hugely. In decent conditions you'll be around 4 miles per kWh which on a 77kWh battery is 308 miles.
@@DarrenMansell thank you for your feedback
If I recall correctly, Black Belt Barrister spent numerous videos saying that recent changes to the Highway Code, surrounding changes to the hierarchy of users, would result in chaos. Chaos that doesn't seem to have materialised. Funny that. He may be a barrister but like anyone he has his own political views which seep through in some of his videos. It's been a long time since I watched his videos so do take this with a pinch of salt but I believe he was referring to asylum seekers as 'illegal immigrants'? I mean some are but I think that was in reference to small boat crossings which wouldn't be illegal immigrants, only people who overstay their visas. It struck me as right wing rhetoric.
To much assuming on your part. To much assuming by the cyclist. To much assuming on the driver.
I have to disagree on a couple of points here. I think if you are changing position on the road ( which the cyclist obviously did as he positioned himself in front of the car as opposed to being at the side of it ) then it is a basic safety requirement to do a quick over the shoulder glance behind to make sure it is safe to carry out the aforementioned manouvre , it is very dangerous to just assume that you are okay to carry out the manouvre without the very minimal safety check beforehand. Secondly, the safest thing the cyclist could have done was to drop back behind the car where he is completely out of danger, ultimately a car is going to be faster on the road than a cyclist and for the sake of giving up a few metres of road space or to possibly give your ego a stroke by maintaining the lead position rather than keep yourself safe is quite ridiculous.. Yes, I totally agree that the car was too close to the cyclist but the easiest, quickest and safest remedy for the cyclist would have been to drop behind the car but unfortunately in the modern "me first" , selfish style of road use that meant he would have lost face and so a greater risk was initiated by what the cyclist did. To be honest, taking government advice is never my first port of call especially in this situation as it sounds like the government wishes to put the cyclist in constant danger from what I could garner from your quotes from the highway code.
How many deaths by bikes in the uk? Look it up its very interesting.
The rules of the road fall into "shoulds" and "musts". Advice is exactly that, and also doesn't trump riding safely. It is how you get to primary position that matters. No road user can force priority and there is no such thing as right of way, priority has to be given not take that is is the system in the UK (the US does have the concept of right of way in the law). It could be the worst driver in the world you are interacting with, in that case the best you thing you could do it let them go on their way report them, etc. You aren't improving the flow forcing them to yield to you regardless of who you think is in the right.
I largely agree, but looking at the standard of driving here, I do wonder why the cyclist proceeded to undertake and then move into the vehicle's path at such close distance (he definitely moves to the left). I think the cyclist was looking for an altercation or at least not applying common sense. And banging on a window? Yes, that's sure to bring out the best in someone.
A few things. Yes the car is wrong to the that near, but also you are in danger you can use the space you have and drop back. When both road users what to the be right that is when people get hurt. If the driver is driving like that then avoid them. Second this is a legal opinion by a qualified a barrister with experience not what you might might think is fair. Priority is given not taken. You improve the flow when safe to do so, do even if you are to assume a road position you have to do that safely. Wander is correct term because the cyclist doesn't even have mirror and didn't check the distance. Consider the cyclist is itself overtaking the car, then they overtook in an unsafe manner regardless of if the car is in the wrong. In the criminal case two wrong aren't weighed against each other they are consider in their won right, and it only if the facts contradict would one displace the other, but not who is more wrong. . There are parked cars on the other side three is not enough space for both of them, while the car is in the wrong, the cyclist also need to preserve themselves.
im from holland we al have a bike here but the problem we face is dicks on bikes that think thy ar in the toer the france i woud never overtake a car that thiing is 2 ton ! i woud say on side and see what he dose before making my move and my move woud be realy slow too and this guy saying in english law you need to make sure thy cant overtake you WTF thats like asking a kid to fight a profesonal boxxer and expect him to win you guys ar just realy bad at biking and use it as sport normal people use it to travel
The barrister just appeared to throw as much mud into the water as possible. The basic facts of this situation are total impatience on car drivers side
Absolutely the car drivers fault. Total impatience on this car driver’s side he’s totally unwilling to hang back a few seconds and that’s all it requires just a few seconds and everyone gets in with their day with no issues or injuries.
is the vz expensive to lease?
So we have to choose between the opinion of a qualified barrister with three quarters of a million subscribers and the opinion of a lay person with 500 subscribers Hmmmm Let me think 😂
I acknowledge this in the video. But it's not really the law side I'm challenging. It's his assumptions, inherent bias and misunderstanding of what is and isn't safe when riding a bike in traffic.
Not sure I care what that Tommy Robinson supporting Barrister thinks, or his far right following.
Black Belt Barrister is someone who said recent changes (actually not that recent it was a few years now) would result in chaos. Well, as a layman I said this was nonsense and turns out it was.
If riding a bike on the roads is so dangerous why do it. I realise you cannot mitigate stulidity but this seems to me like a very unnecessary risk. I have lived in the UK for a while, cyclists generally do not obey the laws of the road here, red lights are meaningless and your interpretation of the highway code is generous, as my understanding there is no clear definition what primary postion is for example. This is not Holland and I see riders in peloton formation which may or may not be legal but it is stupid.
It is dangerous. It shouldn't be. People are people, whether they're on a bike or in a car. Some people have wanton abandon for the rules, some people use their own experience and initiative to choose not to follow the rules if they don't make sense, and some people blindly follow every rule. To generalise based on the mode of transport is really lazy thinking.
@@DarrenMansell so to try and undermine my point as a generalisation you generalised human behavior, is that not lazy? I ride also, but stopped doing it in the UK as it is not safe, there is no infrastructure, and from my empirical observations there are a lot of cyclists in the UK that seem to think rules and legislation make them invincible. You have a confirmation bias that is clear in both your video and comments, we all do, but try and look at this in the objective best you can, driving around most major cities in the UK is dangerous being on a bike increases this risk by a high magnitude. I would suggest that injury is statistically inevitable and all the codes and legislation in the world cannot change this, and blackbeltbarrister is also a victim of prescriptive doctrines, even if there was a claim for contributory negligence it would not have had any impact on the cyclist had he suffered life changing injuries. I see a lot of cyclists taking huge unnecessary risks and my observations would point to a cultural issue that is pervasive, you are in the most vulnerable category of road users, respect that as you are the most responsible for your own safety. Finally banging on someone's car is aggressive behaviour, you cannot placate this by saying you are making them aware, it is clear from the video it was an aggressive act then riding in front of the car further served to escalate the situation, no deescalate it
It's not that dangerous statistically, in the UK anyway. Don't get me wrong it could and should be a lot safer.
I told him he was full of shyte it was 100 % the cars fault
Cyclist is completely at fault for getting knocked off. As for getting squeezed out of the lane, that's a different matter. It was pure negligence to make a manoeuvre so close to the car behind without checking its position. A lot of perspective is given from yourself for the cyclist and how they might be feeling, but as a driver also, I'd have also expected a counterpoint to your own argument if you were being objective. The car knew they were there and, assuming no malicious intent, they weren't doing anything to try and endanger the cyclist further. They probably didn't expect the cyclist to get so close to their car when moving in front. Also consider that many drivers have the best intentions when navigating near cyclists, but often don't know how to specifically handle situations like this. It's perhaps expected that the cyclist would remain alongside them, especially if the cyclist pushed up alongside them in the first place (which they often do, and they shouldn't). It could be argued that more education is needed around cyclists when learning to drive, I wouldn't disagree. If the cyclist's position was that they were terrified that the car was getting too close to them, that argument falls apart when they go to overtake far too close. Just because you are more vulnerable on the road, it does not give you a legal pass to be more reckless. You share equal responsibility for your safety as the road users around you.
How would the cyclist check the position of the car if it's behind them?
@@DarrenMansell A simple glance over the shoulder, as a motorcyclist I do it all the time.
@@martynflynn8368 there isn't enough time. In the time it takes to look behind, the car in front could have stopped, someone stepped out, hit a pothole, anything. As someone who rides a bike on the roads in traffic a lot, take it from me. You have to make sure you're ok in front of you first.
@@DarrenMansell You can make sure you're OK in front whilst also making sure you're OK behind too. The assumption of safety is reckless, whether you're a cyclist or a driver. For example, I may know that it's my turn to merge but I still check my mirror and blind spot. I don't blindly smash into the car on my left simply because it's my assumed right to. If the cyclist was truly concerned for their safety, they would drop back. If they had done so they would have avoided the altercation altogether. You can argue that they shouldn't need to, but there will always be idiots on the road or even just honest mistakes; enough that, sometimes, you just need to take things on the chin and play it safe.
@@Dominhiho can I ask if you've ever cycled in heavy traffic?
As someone who has been hit off of a bike very recently I can say now with full confidence that these situations are almost never 100% to blame on one party (obviously there is the odd exception). In my case I was struck from behind by a van after I turned left at a give-way line. In my mind I was "miles" up the road and struck in the back, in the drivers mind I was mid-way through the turn and hit him side on. Thanks to our underfunded and overworked police there was no official follow up and I just paid the driver for the slight damages to move on. In this particular case shown in the video I would say the cyclist and the driver where both at fault. The driver didn't appropriately back off when told to however, the cyclist should've glanced over before moving in front of the car. Any road user should know to check behind before moving position. If the cyclist had done this then he'd have seen it was clearly unsafe for him to move in front of the car. On the other hand, the driver is an utter clown for not taking excess caution when being alerted to the presence of a cyclist to their right hand side. I'd argue that this is 70% the drivers fault and 30% the cyclists. My unprofessional and "technically illegal" recommendation to prevent this is to use the pavement/sidewalk when absolutely necessary.
Thanks for your valuable insight there. The only thing I'd say is that if I'm in a situation like that, I don't think I'd have time to look around because of having to pick the least risky option which is to keep eyes on what's in front and the road surface. Multiple times I've looked behind and in that second something has changed in front of me and I've almost come a cropper that I only take my eyes off the road ahead when I absolutely have to.
I disagree. From what I can see it wasn’t safe to move into the primary position when they did. The car was still too close. If the cyclist had taken more care an attention before starting to move over they would have seen that. The highway code you read said move into the primary position “if safe”, if safe being the key part. I would argue that at the time they tried to move, it wasn’t safe. Just my opinion based on what I can see.
The cyclist had the opportunity to back off but he chose to engage, his fault
Where? Where did the 'cyclist' (no such thing) have the opportunity to back off? Could you give me a timecode in the video? Then I can tell you precisely why he didn't.
@@DarrenMansell what, you mean you cannot see the part where the car passes the bike yet the cyclist clearly goes for it instead of backing off! I’m not saying the car is faultless by the way, just the cyclist aggravated the situation.
In my country there would not be any debate - you never have the right to drive into somebody - and it will never be the "soft road user" as we call it here, that has the blame. So the car should allways give away for the bike, and the bike should allways give away for the pedestrian.. Allways.. If a car hits a bike - it is the cars fault.
as the car was ahead the bike should have pulled behind car and then gained prime position
At no point was the car ahead

@@DarrenMansell Yeah it's funny lol. cool video by the way, I often ride my bike on the road, some drivers are too impatient
so you think cyclists can ride anywhere and any way they want and drivers must give way to them at all times
Not quite all the time. I agree everyone has a responsibility for their own safety. But someone in a car is 100% protected from someone on a bike. I'm saying that the person on the bike did nothing wrong in this situation and I would have done exactly the same.
@@DarrenMansell i disagree, the bike had no reason to go infront of the car that close and risk his life, he did that to try prove a point and lost his bike in the process
I think your statement about moving In front of the car is beyond crazy, you are advised to move In front and hold place but following the other laws ie. the 4 second rule of space not just straight under the wheels. if you are already self advised the car is dangerous don't throw yourself under the wheels surely. you will also see in the highway code you read move into the lane IF IT IS SAFE TO DO SO. not so safe under the wheels as he examples. To be clear i do agree the car is to close and have moved in a line across the bike and the car is certainly at fault as well. i cant see from the vid who started the issue saying a car is dangerous so it should give way full stop is the same as a man standing in the train tracks saying stop train your bigger than me and very deadly stop mr train for i am mere flesh and you are a train of steel.
I don't think we disagree. I'm just trying to explain why the guy on the bike moved out. He thought the car had dropped back and was taking primary position to stop them doing it again. Could he have looked around and checked? I don't think so. First priority in a tricky situation is to make sure you're not about to ride into something worse so looking around would mean he's in the back of the car in front or in the pothole that's clearly visible.
@@DarrenMansell yeah i think the car is the one criminally liable as its dangerous driving, but the poor guy on the bike nearly lost his life so its best to be as safe as you can

I can't go more than 150 miles without a comfort break, fast chargers always available wherever I stop, plug in, do what I have to do, come back and the car is good for another 200+ miles. Comfort is excellent, instrumentation superb. There is nothing I can find fault with.
That's how to use an EV on long trips, people get focused on the it takes 1h to charge etc... argument, but that's not how to do a trip. Last week I planned out a trip route from Calais to nice, staying off the tolls, and only hitting Tesla's super chargers, for the born V3 58kwh eboot. The total journey time is 18h10m, the total charge time was 1h 36m split over 5 stops. Each stop was estimated at under 20mins. I'd be stopping that often anyhow for a pee and coffee. And that takes over 20 mins. Also that wasn't taking into a country I found a country B&B in Dijon, 5 mins off the route, for £36 (£4 extra for breakfast), but it had free 7kw overnight charging. Iirc I needed a total of 220kw of charge, when taking into account the really cheap french Tesla prices, and the free stop over. I reckon charge cost would be around £40. If I was to take the faster toll roads, I'd have to charge for a total of 2h 10m, and the total journey is 14h 30m, and the toll costs are about £150. Given I'd need at least one over night stop, it makes sense to take the non tolls and save the toll fee and the extra fuel cost. 3 years ago I wasn't ready for an EV, but not the Tesla superchargers are all but open to the public, and the £9 membership, I'm now ready to get an EV. I never had an interest in having a Tesla. The Born is the first EV that interested me.
If you banged on the window, then why not slow down and let them get in front?seconds ,surely you can slow down, car is a very dangerous thing. Cyclist is not. Even though you have rights, self preserving is more important?
Because in the second that the car comes alongside me, I don't have time to work out where and how I can stop and unclip without causing more of a hazard and potentially being rear ended by the car behind
@@DarrenMansell But the video clearly shows that by doing what he did the cyclist got rear ended by the vehicle that was initially in front of him, stupid manouvre.
