Help! Who is the best girl? #stardewvalley #stardew #games #gamestream
I think Flamme's point about needing to be a mage of a peaceful era to defeat the demon lord comes back to the idea that magic must be perfectly imagined to be made real. If a mage can't properly imagine a peaceful world then they can't fully imagine defeating the demon lord because that will create a peaceful world. If a mage can't imagine defeating the demon lord they will fail to do it. In the battle with Denken, I think she got that close before blasting him so she would be suddenly in his face, shocking him so he would be surprised and freeze just enough to delay his casting a defense spell. I also think that his use of an area of effect spell, his combo fire/tornado, was to force Frieren to cast a complete globe of defense magic around herself. As she said while training Fern, this would very quickly drain her mana, much faster than Denken would drain his just using attack spells. That's why it's what he did after saying he needed to end the battle quickly. He just didn't realize how huge Frieren's mana pool is because she always hides that. It makes mages overconfident just like it makes demons overconfident.
I see. I didn't think about defense magic's mana cost because I thought he's also using his mana in the tornado but I guess if there was anyone else but Frieren they might drain sooner than tornado I see the point for sure!
Mages are so rare that even in a magic capital city you would only expect to see a couple of them while walking around. Übel was back in Graf's domain when she met the bandits. Those bandits might not have even seen a mage before.
Oh that makes sense
Fern is so strong that I don't know if Ehre is strong. But I don't think Fern is lying. Wirbel didn't give me a good impression until episode 20, but I was wrong. In episode 20, that image completely changed. In episode 20, I learned that Wirbel is a really good and kind person. Wirbel went to find Scharf, Carrying Ehre on your back, and Wirbel learned that he is a man who cares for his friends. These 20 episodes have made me like Wirbel. Land is a pretty capable guy. He's a second class mage, and seems to be able to create like-a-clones. At last, Serie, the elf from the OP, makes her first appearance. It seems Serie is quite high-ranking.
@miyaisit4188 Yes, I completely agree about Wirbel. His attitude felt hostile, and I thought either he or Übel wouldn’t make the exams. But it turns out, Wirbel isn’t really choose to kll if not necessary. As for the elf woman, I’m certain she's incredibly powerful-a kind of future version of Frieren but likely more driven by power and even less emotional. She seems to have founded the academy, directing other mages under her own system. I get the sense we won't exactly approve of her, but we'll understand her. This show has a way of always making me feel that way.
There are a lot threats of killing in this episode. But so far, nobody has actually killed, the ones who we've seen die were killed by monsters.
@grimmturd yes, I mean they all are at least tier 3 mages like Fern. It's cool to see good and powerful characters like that blond guy. I'm not sure about those 2 girls with Frieren, tho as I said at the end of the episode, I'm not sure how that fight will end.
The opening was made by Creepy Nuts, the same people that made the second opening for Mashle. So it's not surprising that you felt the same vibe.
I knew it was too similar. Definitely another banger of a music and an animation too.

It's really neat how all the information we've gotten til now is put to a test, the exam arc. Just like in school, you are taught things and then tested for what you know. There are so many new characters introduced last episode, but now we get tons of more information about each of them. Perception/perspective is still the main theme (at least by my perspective) so it applies to each of these characters as well as us. This arc of the show, without spoiling too much, should almost be a movie by itself because very little time passes between episodes, they blend together as the 3 tests don't take very many days to complete. It's kind of like anime of old where 1 fight can take 10 episodes to complete (stares at Dragonball Z). So much like episodes 1-4 were intended as an introduction prologue that should be watched together consecutively because by the end of 4, it made sense where the show was going. This exam arc is similar. You've seen how this show gives you information in a very intentional way, sometimes waiting several episodes to give us real answers.. much like how ep. 10 was a huge information and lore dump on us that clarified all the things we thought we knew or speculated before then. Just be patient with the arc and don't overthink too much.
Haha, yes, I think you’re right about that! Now that I know more about these new characters, I feel like I can expect-and not expect-a lot from them. I’m really excited to see if the strategist guy can do anything against Frieren and how that might affect their exam results.
The magic exam city Äußerst is pronounced "Oyserst", like "oyster". The ß is "ss" in German. I like the new characters in this exam arc, all in their own way, some more than others. BTW, the filter for the anime in your video covered nearly all of the subtitles.. just fyi.
I man I didn't notice clipping on the subtitles at all. I'm not sure about the new characters. I got curious about green haired girl only because Kraft part. Besides that I don't think they are going to be impoertant for us. I mean I would like to see Fern and Stark having more frirends and stuff but IDK this felt like a filler
Ken Takakura is a famous Japanese actor from the '60's known for his brooding acting style. She likes that kind of guy. It's such a fun anime, great animations and colors. Very fast-paced at times. There are a lot of references to things I didn't know about, but stopping to look up stuff makes some of them easier to understand.
I mean I get what she meant by 'Ken Takakura' like guys. But yeap I checked after the episode about him. I'm excited whats next in the anime!
Not sure what anime you really like since Frieren is something everyone can enjoy. To Your Eternity is somewhat similar with a protagonist that outlives others, but it has a different theme and is darker. Mushoku Tensei and Re:Zero are the two best Isekai anime right now, tho they handle more adult themes and serious issues. DanDaDan is currently the best *new* anime right now and if you like Mob Psycho, you'll love it.
Oh yes, I’ve seen some Dan Da Dan reactions lately. I might give that a shot, and I’ve never watched Re:Zero either. These are really great suggestions, thanks!
Äußerst is pronounced "Oyserst", like oyster. It translates to "extremely" in English. The ß is actually "ss" in German, not a B. The new intro doesn't spoil, just raises more questions. You're right that this anime is different. It's focus is on character development and not plot, and it examines the human condition expertly.
If you watch the new opening (that is called "Sunny" or "Haru" in Japanese and is performed by Yorushika) on episode 18 you will be ok since that is when the new arc begins and almost all the new characters except one appear in that episode. The remaining character appears in episode 20. The "new" ending is the second half of the same song used as the first ending, Anytime Anywhere performed by Milet.
@EmiJP10 Thank you so much! I'll skip the intro till ep 20, I guess. I am excited about it! 🙌
Faker represents Azir because he did the best play in lol history last year. You can search "faker azir R against ruler"
Oh, I knew he’s one of the best-or even the best-player in the league, but I haven't followed the matches recently. Thanks for the heads-up! I’ll check it out for sure! 🙌
The 16th story, Old Man Voll, was a sad one. He lost his wife, and now he himself is suffering from memory problems. In modern terms, it would be like Alzheimer's disease. Old Man Voll has almost forgotten his own wife and is no longer aware of his surroundings. However, after Old Man voll and Frieren have a pleasant conversation, as they part ways Old Man voll says that he had a dream about his wife, which gives Old Man voll some comfort. Sein's story after that turned into a joke and I laughed, but... Even so, I knew Kraft was no ordinary person, but I never imagined he was a hero who saved the world. This anime has a good mix of seriousness and gags, and is good because it doesn't become too serious or too gag-oriented.
Yep, I like how they always add a bit of comic relief after a serious moment. I think they foreshadowed Kraft being a hero when he asked Frieren if she knew him. I believe the reason for that question was to gauge Frieren's age. Kraft was likely a hero either before she was born or when she was very young. At one point, Kraft asked who she is to Frieren , and Fern replied, 'She’s a member of the Hero's team.' Kraft responded, 'But before that, we are elves.' I think there's a big age gap between Frieren and Kraft, and they both understood it even before asking directly. He even called her young and said she’d understand more when she gets older. It’s actually sad to realize that Kraft is a forgotten hero. I hope we don't find out he stayed in the place where he was once celebrated as ahero, only to be forgotten and disrespected over time, which then pushed him to start traveling. That scenario would be truly heartbreaking.
@@Arengan That's certainly true. Kraft was once a hero who saved the world, but now most people don't know him, although there are statues of him. That's sad. There was a line in One Piece that said that it's not really sad when someone who has accomplished something great dies, but rather that the true sadness is when no one remembers them. I agree.
Fern has a locket with a picture of herself and her parents that she was looking at in ep.2, just before Heiter met her and stopped her from jumping off the cliff. There is probably a specific spell for taking photos, maybe Frieren has it, maybe she doesn't. Good call on the statue being Kraft! Back in ep.2, Frieren got a spell for cleaning bronze statues. She mentions that cleaning this particular stone statue would have been easier if it were bronze.
Oh yeah, I think she was holding a necklace. And yeah, I get when she said it would be easier to clean a bronze statue. I remember her using the spell for Himmel's statue too. So we can even guess that bronze statues weren't a thing when Kraft and his friends were heroes. Like the old lady said they were heroes a long time ago and now no one remembers
In the first half, we got to see Sein in action. As Heiter said, Frieren was a very trusted ally of Himmel and the others. I never thought I'd see Stark and Fern dancing. Fern looked nervous at the beginning of the dance, but thanks to Stark, she was able to relax and dance. At the end, it looked like Fern was smiling. Lord Orden gently guided Stark. He was different from Stark's real father. Lord Orden had a fight with his son and broke up with him, and Lord Orden regretted it and said something that would stay with him forever. That's really sad.
sick video brother i loved it
Hey, thanks! 🙌
Ótima reação.
Sein is pronounced "sign". He's the normal character in the group, sort of representing us. "Elves lack romantic feelings and reproductive instincts." Fern's response to Frieren in episode 3 when she's given a birthday gift, "You really don't understand feelings, do you?" She's obviously not emotionless, she just doesn't understand social cues and interactions that we can see clearly. On the rooftop watching Fern and Stark is her figuring things out. She's probably never been in or witnessed a relationship like theirs before. Sein is up there on the rooftop because he's curious like we are. There is no reason to assume Frieren knew what the design on the ring meant. It was randomly chosen.. or fated to be chosen. Himmel knows at least a little about flowers, the blue moon weed flower of his homeland was important to him at least. She's just realizing a lot of things too late by comparing her memories with the present perspective and watching Fern and Stark. You're exactly right about their relationship, too. We all ship the two of them, but it's clearly a relationship that's forming organically, nothing is forced like most anime. The symbolism of the clock tower behind and in between Frieren and Himmel when he puts the ring on her is that time is the only thing separating them.
Oh man, "The symbolism of the clock tower behind and in between Frieren and Himmel when he puts the ring on her is that time is the only thing separating them." Thats so right and I can't beleive I missed this while I'm watching. You're so right
This 14th episode is probably the most popular. The relationship between Stark and Fern was good, but the main characters this time were Himmel and Frieren. In particular, Himmel's proposal in episode 14 was the most beautiful scene, but at the same time it was also the most sad scene. Everyone can see that it was a beautiful scene. But what makes it sad is that Himmel proposed to Frieren, but Frieren didn't realise it was a proposal at the time. It is only in this story, after Himmel's death, that Frieren becomes aware of Himmel's feelings for the first time. And in this anime, the fact that "the time that humans and elves live is different" is a really sad thing. Humans and elves have such different lifespans that they cannot live the same lives. That's why I think Himmel didn't say anything to Frieren when he proposed. My heart aches when I think about what Himmel must have been feeling for 50 years since he defeated the Demon King. The sadness was diminished by the inclusion of gags, but it was actually a very sad scene that would have made you cry. In the first episode, Frieren was fiddling with a ring that was presumably bought for her by Himmel. And while the lotus flowers on Fern's bracelet were open, the lotus flowers on Frieren's ring were closed and in bud. It is speculated that the fact that the lotus flower on Fern's bracelet was open meant that her love would be fulfilled, while Frieren's was still in bud, meaning that her relationship with Himmel was not successful.
I completely agree with the reason why Himmel didn’t say anything about his relationship with Frieren. Himmel knew that it wouldn’t be possible for them to live and get old together. But I don’t think he lived unhappily for those 50 years. Even while they were still on their adventure, he knew it would only be a fleeting moment for Frieren, and I believe his only wish was for those mere 10 years they spent together to be memorable for her. And we know that he succeeded in that. He probably did wonder, 'Would things have been different if I had talked to her?' but in the end, I don’t think he would have wanted to change anything. Himmel was someone who understood everything clearly and acted rightly, or at least that’s how Frieren remembers him.
@@Arengan Certainly, Himmel may not have been unhappy for 50 years when he could not meet Frieren. There is no correct answer because each person is different. I think the way of thinking varies as much as there are people.
Only Sein is immune to Frieren's seduction technique. A formidable foe indeed.
😂
The 13th episode was mostly a gag episode. Frieren's statement "only ten years" sounds convincing, but humans and elves live for very different times. But Frieren probably knows best what she's been through. Sein's older brother was a really nice person who cared for his younger brother. Sein may be a totally depraved priest, but his abilities as a priest are outstanding, so I think it was great to be able to go on an adventure together with Frieren and the others. There is always a column listing the voice actors, but Sein's gorilla friend was written as "Warrior Gorilla." What is Gorilla's real name? This anime makes excellent use of voice actors, with Mr. Takehito Koyasu as Kraft, Mr. Takuya Eguchi as Stolz, Ms. Konomi Kohara as the village chief of Sword Village, and Mr. Yuichi Nakamura as Sein.
Hmm. Yeah you are right Gorliia is only going by his nickname but not his real name, thats something to think about. I never think about the voice actors of them because I don't have any knowladge about Japanese voice actors but I can say they are really good fits for the characters, I can understand much with their voices and the way they are saying things!
Stark's father : "Stolz you're the pride of the village" Stolz : "Of course dad..." That exchange always cracks me up because stolz literally means "proud" in German so I imagine the brother thinking "Old man that's literally in my name" as he answer.
Oh, that's a fun fact! I thought some of the place names sounded German, and it turns out they actually used it somewhere!
@@Arengan Oh yes, a lots of the name are German words and for characters they tends to illustrate something about them : -Flamme means ... well flame quite obviously -Frieren means frozen -Eisen means iron -Heiter means joyful -Himmel means sky/heaven -Fern is distant -Stark means strong -Qual means painful -Ewig means eternal -Lugnër means Liar -Draht means wire -Linie means line And so on...
@@enomiellanidrac9137 Wow, Thats so cool! I don't know or recall some of them I guess but knowing this is actually good. Thanks!
You're right about Stark's perspective of himself. Very low self-worth, so he doesn't see himself as a hero, which is why he didn't try to pull the sword. He envisions Himmel and his brother Stoltz as heroic and he is always doing things to be like them. There are a couple theories about the sword out there as well, like "the great calamity bent on destroying the world" wasn't the Demon King, it's something that hasn't happened yet. Also, perhaps the sword could only be pulled by someone who actually needs it. Himmel clearly didn't need it. I always tear up on this episode.
Yes, 'the great calamity bent on destroying the world' stuck with me too. I think we’ll learn more about it when we find out why these new demon attacks are happening. Even though Himmel's death maight be a reason, I still believe there's a leader and a mission behind it all. I also thought Stark might try to pull the sword when they are returning to the central-lands, but why would he? As a scriptwriter myself, I could see a scenario where they discover a demon army or a world-ending catastrophe coming aka 'the great calamity bent on destroying the world' , and they return to warn everyone. In that moment of need of an Actual Hero, Stark might try to pull it. But this would require big decisions for the show. Do they want to turn it into a World-Saving Quest in future seasons? Do they want Stark to be 'The Hero' now? It would also be interesting for Stark, an apprentice of the great axe warrior Eisen, to take on the role of a Hero Swordsman. His story could become quite epic tho. When I think about it, Fern is a product of Heiter and Frieren (two mages from the original team). Stark could become a blend of Eisen’s skills and Himmel’s mentality, with Frieren’s guidance. But of course, that’s a long shot. For the series to take that direction, it would need to become more of a shounen-style show. But like I said, it’s just a guess. I’m excited for the new episodes, but I’m not expecting anything like I theorized. I’d love to see where Frieren’s journey in 'heaven' leads and what the story has in store for us. I don’t think she’s just going to say 'hi' to Himmel and then they'll return.
Himmel defeated the Demon King even without being able to draw his sword. The true hero was the one who defeated the demon king regardless of the weapon. In the real world, for example, no matter how expensive something is, if the people handling it aren't top-notch, it can't be handled. Conversely speaking, no matter what tools you use, they will work well if the person handling them is top-notch. Stark's upbringing was bad and his father was said to be a failure, his older brother taught him kindly. But Stark's brother was probably killed by demons. The reason why Stark's brother is believed to have been killed is because there would likely be information like that if he were alive. Eisen said, "Everyone who works hard is a warrior." This also applies to the real world. Even if it's not an actual battle, someone who works hard at studying, for example, is the same as a warrior who has a strong will and works hard. Up until now, it's been a sad story about Stark, but the interesting story is that after that, "A potion that only dissolves clothing" remained and Frieren tried to use it.
Skyrim evimiz Ulfric babamız ❤
The way demons think about magic is close to knights and other code bound fighting caste: one should fight fairly, with honor and so on. At first things outside of the skill set of such people were labeled as dishonorable as way to keep the upper hand on other caste, consciously or not, but with time it became ingrained in the culture and just seemed natural because it looked how it always had been. Just like for a time using crossbow against other christian was forbidden by the church (papal order and all), since it allows a mere peasant with no training to kill a noble night it was label as dishonorable. In the case of demons it is born of the nature of their social order as Flamme explains in the flashback, with that mindset to demons hiding ones mana in this fashion is akin to bringing hidden weapons to a formal duel.
Oh yeah, I saw it more as a fantasy perspective, kind of like a knight’s way of viewing things. But now that I think about it, the real-life references actually fit even better.
Stark suffers from very low self-worth. He's a very kind person, but has little faith in himself. Next episode will show more of this. I like the call-back to episode 1 here when Heiter says he wants to know how Frieren suppresses her mana so well. "Master Heiter says I'm practically invisible. That's a very good thing, isn't it?" Also, in one of the time-skip montages in episode 2, there is a scene with Heiter sun-bathing while Frieren is drawing a circle on the ground around Fern. This is her teaching Fern what range she should keep her mana suppression in. Looking forward to the next episode!
Oh wow, I could never noticed those details without re-watching the anime
I'm glad that thanks to Frieren, Granat's son was found. This is the first time we've met an elf other than Frieren. Apparently, Kraft has outlived Frieren.
@miyaisit4188 @miyaisit4188 Yes, we know that one elf town destroyed by demons, but I assume there were some elves far from the north too, so I always thought there's more elves. We at least know Frieren is not the last and oldest one.

Frieren was overwhelmingly strong. As expected, he is a friend of Himmel and his friends who defeated the Demon King. Frieren had learned from Flamme how to limit the amount of magical energy that leaves her body. Fern is the same. Because Stark is a warrior, he couldn't sense magical powers, which is why he had such a hard time defeating his enemies.
I think Stark's biggest flaw, up until this episode (I didnt watch 11 yet9), is that he’s unaware of his own capabilities. He can tank powerful attacks, like taking a hit from a demon with his abs, and defeat a dragon in seconds, but he still shakes and fears before fights. While being cautious is smart in this world, it also seems to affect his judgment during battles. I’d love to see him grow more confident as he realizes his strength, though I don’t want him to become fearless-after all, a little fear is key for survival.
@@Arengan I agree that humans need a little bit of fear. In episode 6, Eisen said, "Being afraid isn't a bad thing." I think this applies to us in real life as well. Excessive confidence can destroy you, but being able to feel a little fear is what moves you forward. Also, if you feel too much fear, you won't be able to move forward.
Firstly, RIP Tanaka Atsuko, November 14, 1962 - August 20, 2024, the voice actress for Flamme. You've got the right idea about the important bits that are revealed about mana in this episode. It's obviously a smart strategy for us, the viewer. In their world, it's considered dishonorable to hide your strength, apparently. More-so for demons than humans, but we can assume that no other mages besides Flamme even tried to suppress their mana. As Frieren said, it gets tiring after a while. We can assume that this may also be a reason why Frieren sleeps in late, but if that were the case then Fern would be sleepy, too. Not too sure about that. Many other questions are answered from this episode, too. This is the first time we've seen what a person's mana output looks like, visually. It's entirely possible that we could have figured out this strategy before episode 10 if we were ever shown what a person's mana looked like. When demons say it's dishonorable, I am reminded of the U.S. Revolutionary War against England. Back then, it was common for armies to face off in lines and just go at each other openly. One of the ways the U.S. won was by using guerilla tactics, which the British saw as unfair. In episode 5 "Phantoms of the Dead", Frieren talks about having to shoot an illusion of her master begging for her life. She said she was used to seeing her beg for her life so she didn't feel too concerned about it. In this episode, we hear Flamme talking about not engaging enemies directly and instead "running, hiding, taking them by surprise." These were the underhanded tactics Flamme used, along with suppressing her mana to make herself appear weak. She was a survivor. The best part of this episode for me was her 1000 years alone. She was just outside that little village, training with her mana suppressed and living off the land, not really interacting with anyone. By the time Himmel, Heiter and Eisen came by, that village had become a kingdom. This shows us a huge reason as to why she's so awkward, almost cold and uncaring to everyone. Flamme told her to live in obscurity, not to be known to history until she defeated the demon king. That also explains why she doesn't flaunt her name or deeds. Not just because she's awkward in society, but because she's Flamme's secret weapon against demons. Trying to perceive Frieren's point-of-view is very difficult for us, to even think about how our own human minds would be affected by 1000 years of mostly solitude, as humans are social creatures by nature. Elves lack romantic feelings and reproductive instincts, which also implies how easy they can handle solitude. While she seems almost robotic at times, we have seen her show a vast range of emotions. Her biggest issue is with social cues with others. Assuming she was only with Flamme after her village was destroyed and then with the hero's party for 10 years, she seemed to have very limited interactions with other humans. In the current time, she's comparing old interactions to try figuring out how humans are the way they are and why she's so interested in them. This is already a long post and I feel like I'm still missing many things, but you will really see these again for yourself when you watch it all again after finishing the season. It's probably the best show I've ever re-watched that gave me a different, but still uniquely enjoyable experience.
Both Fern and Stark were stronger than the demons. Fern seems to have some leeway. The artwork is really good.
I’m not sure about that. I don’t think Stark was stronger or a better fighter than the demon girl, but when he spoke about his master, it seemed to trigger her ego. She decided to fight him using Eisen’s technique, which probably isn’t her best. Like Stark said, she wasn’t powerful enough, and I doubt she usually fights that way. He didn’t win just because he was stronger, but because he pushed her into using a technique she wasn’t as skilled with. As for Fern, it’s hard to say. The demon didn’t take her seriously at the beginning and even then asked for help at some point, but I’m not sure why he didn’t see her as a threat while seeing Frieren as one. Was it because they’re humans? Or was his ego too big to recognize a human as a real threat? Despite that, Fern was fast and controlled, while he was powerful and experienced. The way their fight ended was convincing. And yes, the artwork is amazing-makes me want to skip fewer parts while editing!
6:16 In the English dub, Aura says, "Himmel is rotting in the ground." This seems to imply a harsher response to Frieren than "Himmel is long gone." So when Frieren responds with, "I see. Good. You demons are monsters after all. I can kill you without mercy." it makes a bit more sense. This moment is 28 years after the death of Himmel. The era of peace was essentially the life of Himmel. Once he died, the demons started acting up again. Himmel was so great that, even as an old man, he kept them all in check by just staying alive. Since demons are essentially "wild beasts", Himmel having killed the Demon King, the alpha pack leader, they were all wary of doing anything until he died.
@grimmturd Oh, I guess I never think about peace is broken because of Himmels death. I would like to see them explaining their reasoning to start gathering armies again tho
@@Arengan The humans in Graf Granat's town were fighting back against Aura's army. In ep. 7, when visiting Frieren's jail cell, Fern explains that Aura starting acting up 28 years ago. The town has been on the defense since then, relying on the town's defensive barrier to keep demons from entering. They would send out troops to fight, but Aura would just use her scales to make them obedient to her, until their body withers to dust and just the soul remains. She'd behead them (hence Aura the Guillotine) if they had strong wills to temporarily resist.. like the Graf's son.
6:53 Stark's jacket animation🤩 8:43 Fern's jacket animation🤩 I find that it's difficult for shows to portray internal monologues, but anime seems to do it best, particularly during fast action moments. 18:55 When it cuts to the moon and begins to zoom out, we see the magic going slowly. As it moves down past the trees, we are seeing the real-time speed to adjust for the melee fighting, when it speeds up to look like fireworks. I doubt it's a genuine speed scaling between mages and physical combat, but the message seems to imply that Fern's response time truly is that quick.
In general, anime production commites are a mix of a publisher, an animation studio ofc XD, a music label and others like toy sellers or minor investors. Music labels use the animes as marketing platform, lets say a band is about to release a single and that season anime fit the schedule, you know the usual promotion stuff, but sometimes a few animes have a director with a vision so he ask the band or the composer of the music label or sometime he just ask indies or friends etc XD, to put an original just for the anime. In this case all the music is for the anime, same as the ending by Millet (one of the most beautiful anime songs in years) and the soundtrack composed by Evan Call.
14:45 I must admit it's refreshing to see characters with that kind of common sense in an anime.
Yes, it is! I swear I would have talked and cried about it for minutes, maybe even episodes, if he had decided to leave him there like that Lord said!

I'm glad you liked it! 🙌
First of all, I don't understand English so I apologize if my English is a bit weird. Also, please understand if this seems like a long post. The demons appeared. Now you can see the cool side of Frieren. Also, the meaning is different in the English title, Sousou no Frieren(葬送のフリーレン). The 8th episode was the title collection episode of this anime in Japan. Sousou(葬送) means "funeral" and refers to saying your final farewell to the dead and sending them off to the crematorium or cemetery. This has a double meaning as it is used not only for allies but also for enemy demons. By the way, the pronunciation of the "A" in Aura is closer to "ʌ" than to "o". How many people really understand this anime? I can't speak for others though... I'm sure you'll understand. And watching this anime makes me realize how precious time is. I believe this anime has a deeper meaning than other anime like Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen, which are like defeating an enemy. I hope that more people will watch this kind of anime. Many people there are only anime with flashy looks there is a tendency to want to see it.
Hey! First of all, you don't need to apologize for mistakes in your second language. I make plenty of them myself when speaking in my reactions. It's all good, we'll get better as we keep using it. As for the name explanation, wow, so it's direct translation to English, more like 'Funeral of Frieren.' I assume that refers to this whole journey being Frieren's farewell to Himmel, like his funeral. I wouldn't be shocked if Frieren also dies at the end-well, I would be surprised and shocked to be fair, but thematically it might make sense. And thanks for the pronunciation correction too. I'm Turkish, so I tend to pronounce names similarly to Japanese, but it changes on my tongue when speaking English. Hearing Japanese, reading English, thinking in Turkish, and then speaking English is a bit tricky at times. Regarding the depth of this anime, I generally agree with you. I love 'Demon Slayer' and 'Jujutsu Kaisen' too. I enjoy watching beautiful animations and cool characters. But I appreciate the depth and storytelling in this anime so much. I think they belong to different categories; both are great, but in different ways. Thanks for your comment, and I hope to see you in future reactions! 🙌
@@Arengan >Hey! First of all, you don't need to apologize for mistakes in your second language. Thank you. But personally, I think a little apology makes me feel at ease. There may be times when you really can't get through to the other person. >I'm Turkish, so I tend to pronounce names similarly to Japanese, but it changes on my tongue when speaking English. I see. I'm Japanese. I can barely speak English. I like Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen, but I used to like Fullmetal Alchemist the most. I like the combat in Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen, but there's a possibility that a lot of allies will get killed, so that's what's painful. But after watching all the episodes of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, I like it more than Fullmetal Alchemist.
@@miyaisit4188 OH wow I head lots of good things about Full Methal Alchemist's story but never watched it. I might tho.
@@Arengan Fullmetal Alchemist is a masterpiece among masterpieces that has become extremely popular both in Japan and overseas. Fullmetal Alchemist has an old work and a new work, and the new work is an anime that follows the original work more closely. I've seen both. By the way, MyAnimeList, the largest site in the English-speaking world, used to have the highest rating of all time. Currently, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is number one of all time.
@@Arengan Fullmetal Alchemist is popular in both Japan and overseas, and it used to be number one on the all-time list on MyAnimeList, the largest English-speaking website. There is an old and a new version of Fullmetal Alchemist, and the new version is more faithful to the original. I've seen both, and both were interesting. Also, STEINS;GATE, which was previously number two on the all-time list, is also a masterpiece. Currently, Frieren has moved to number one on the all-time list.
Since you've probably already watched ep. 10 by now, there's not much point in going too in-depth about some of the questions you raised. This is why it's best to watch 7-10 at once, kind of like ep. 1-4. Once you finish ep. 10, SO MANY questions since the beginning will have an answer. Looking forward to the next ones!
Nope not watched 10 yet but I'm excited!
I just updated the subtitles so you can understand the parts with voice issues and my accent. Don’t forget to turn on the English subtitles!
Great understanding of what's happening and you've got the right idea of demons! While most people say they are evil, and technically they are, the demons in this world really are more like wild beasts. It's in their nature to do what they do. It's hard for us to understand this because from our perspective, we've never had another species to communicate with that also preys on us. Demons are the predators here, and we are the prey. But we are a very strong prey. I also like knowing in this episode that Flamme is the one who created the term "demon": Monsters who are capable of speech. It's likely that Graf Granat knows a lot about demons, but perhaps he's unaware of their societies. Meaning he doesn't quite know the intricacies of how they are at birth or that they don't have "families". But he does know they are dangerous and have been in a losing war for nearly 30 years with them. You have an idea of the barrier, but you find out more about it in ep.8. He was acting on emotion by letting the demons come into the city and obviously doesn't want peace, but he also doesn't want his city to be at risk, so he brought them to a private area to act on his emotions. A foolish thing, taking huge actions based on emotion, but that seemed to be his intent at the time. As you watch the next few episodes, the info from this one will become more clear and I don't want to leave spoilers here. I've watched a lot of Frieren reactions as I'm obsessed with this anime lol, but I will make some constructive criticism here. -You know your mic is not great, but you gotta use what you have. It's hard to hear your voice sometimes, however. -I'll mention your camera, but as a man in his 40's, I really don't mind the video quality as I'm more familiar with worse. And cameras are expensive. -Most of the reactors I've seen never pause. I think you should. If you have something to say, stop and say it. You know how information in this anime is quick, you gotta read as well as watch the anime or you may miss something. Trying to give your thoughts while watching only hurts *your* experience. You need to edit to not get copyright issues anyways, and all of us have already seen the show. We want to see how you react to yours as well as our favorite parts. If you're still talking about something that happened 10 seconds ago and miss something new, or even get information that answers what you were just talking about, then everyone misses out. Since you are reacting, I'll suggest watching the first episode of Frieren from the Auto Save youtubers. They, as well as a few others I've seen, take quick notes and talk about things with each other at the end. They still react during the episode, but keep it very short. This is just some helpful advice as I'd like to see you succeed in this. But more than that, I want you to enjoy watching this as well. While this show is still great when you watch it again, you can still only experience a first time once.
Hey, I totally agree with what you said. I started doing this because I love watching people’s reactions to the things I love, and I get obsessed with some shows. I watch one show I got obsessed at several reaction channels one after another, so I get where you’re coming from. About the criticism, I’m glad you gave it. Unfortunately, quality mics and cameras are really expensive in my country, so those upgrades will have to wait until I see a real light with this reaction channel. I believe I’ve fixed the mic issue tho, t should be a bit better, but it’s still a headphone mic after all. As for the pausing thing, the hard part about editing when I pause is matching the Frieren scenes with my reaction after a long talk. I have to link them perfectly, so most reactors avoid pausing because it can extend editing time from 1-2 hours to 6-8 hours. We should keep that in mind while reacting and talking so I try to find a relaxed time to talk, but you’re right. I watch a lot of reaction channels too, and it kind of bugs me, too so I shouldn’t do it. Now that I’ve learned a new editing skill, I believe I can pause, talk, and then continue the episode without making the editing process too long for myself. Since I’ve already recorded the 8th and 9th episodes, this change will probably show up in the 10th episode. Thanks for your comment 🙌
Great reaction! There were a few things you seemed to miss when they happened, but you talked about them at the end and you really didn't miss them at all! Glad I waited til the end of the video to write a comment lol. In episode 5, Stark talks about how he was scared and couldn't move when he faced the dragon in the town 3 years before. The animation of him telling the story is that sort of like a child, with some exaggerations, like when he mentions the dragon "slicing up houses like vegetables". The animation we're shown is the 2 swipes of the dragons claws that turned the houses into 4 perfect pieces each, then roaring at Stark and flying away. The truth behind this is that not only did the dragon know Stark was strong, but Stark kept displaying his strength for 3 years: Slicing thru the cliff wall to create the fissure. Much as animals will make themselves look stronger by beating on the ground, roaring, growling, flexing and making themselves look bigger to keep others away. Stark said the dragon hadn't attacked because it didn't feel like it, but Stark, unknowingly, was reminding the dragon that the village was his territory. As you'll learn in episode 10, Frieren has her reasons for being quiet, unassuming, humble and fairly emotionless. We know she has her magic hobbies and desire for research, but we also know she doesn't really want attention to herself. Not only did she want to just relax and take her time, but she *really* didn't want an official "heroic send-off" that the town gave her.
@@grimmturd Yep, I believe I understood most of it while watching, but I just didn't want to stop the show to talk about it before the episode ended. First, they might just show my theory later, and second, pausing makes editing more difficult. And yeah, I thought about the territory thing when Frieren mentioned dragons being smart creatures that don't attack stronger foes, which is why I said he's stuck in the town.
@@Arengan I also forgot to mention the importance of "praise" in this episode. In ep.5 when Stark was talking to Fern about Eisen, he says that his master has never praised him once. Earlier in ep.5 Stark wanted to know Frieren's reason for wanting to fight the dragon, thinking that just getting the grimoire was a dumb reason. She says it's really just because Himmel (an idiot she once knew) complimented (praised) her collection of spells. He thought that was a silly reason, as did Frieren. Deep down he actually saw this as a good reason because he'd rarely experience praise or a compliment. When he finally defeated the dragon, Frieren praised him in such a genuine and heartfelt way. It was probably more disarming to him to hear that than the shock of killing the dragon by himself. One of the many reasons this anime is so special is the way they handle "praise" in this story. Since this anime is classified as a shonen, it's targeted audience is likely young men, even though I really think it's for everyone. But young to middle-aged men in the world today rarely receive praise from anyone. A lot of us won't admit it, but we truly desire for approval from those we look up to or respect. It's the same reason why men see disappointment from their elders as such a crushing feeling. Keep an eye out for how this anime uses 'praise' of others as it's one of the powerful aspects of the character growth and relationships.
@grimmturd Oh, you're right. I was too focused on the 'resolving' part and fight itself at that point. It completely went out of my mind!
The 10 year adventure with them "wasn't even 1/100th of her life". Last episode, it was said several times that 1000 years had passed since she had been to the tree with Flamme's notes in it. This means Frieren is at least over a 1000 years old. Eisen said to her, "That 1/100th changed you", noting that such a small period of time for her had the biggest impact on her.
Oh, so that's what they meant. I remember them using those numbers, but the way Eisen said it confused me a bit there. Thanks for the explanation-always appreciated! 🙌🙌
As you likely know by now, episodes 1-4 were released simultaneously as a prologue movie. The map and the quote from the start of the first episode is repeated at the ruins in the tree, to sort of book-end the episodes. On the subject of stories with a "set-up and pay-off" for certain ideas.. episode 2: Fern mentions getting a spell to turn sweet grapes into sour grapes. episode 3: Eisen mentions sour grapes being his favorite. episode 4: Frieren turns grapes sour and Eisen has the entire bunch in his mouth..
Holy moly, you're right! I noticed that the story continues in a linear path, but I didn’t know they released a prologue movie.
3:30 The king only gave them 10 copper when they left on their journey to defeat the demon king. There were so many other adventurer's that set out to defeat the demon king for probably many years, can't expect the kingdom to go broke when everyone keeps failing. You have a great reaction and are listening with headphones! The sound effects and music are amazing in this anime. If this is your first anime, it's one of the best there is right now. Not many others can live up to this one.
@grimmturd Hey! It’s not my first anime, but it’s the first one I’ve watched in a while. I absolutely love the story, and I agree-the music is fantastic, even though it’s causing some copyright headaches for me. I hadn’t really considered that other adventurers might have tried to defeat the demon lord before. I always imagined it like one of those typical hero must defeat the demon lord journeys, but what you said makes a lot of sense. Thanks for pointing that out! I’m glad you’re enjoyed my reaction, and I hope you stick around as I watch the whole series!
