Homestead Sit with the Flock and Cats in Easley, SC
Homestead sitting is a special pleasure. In the lovely town of Easley, SC, I watched over a flock of chickens and ducks as well as several cats. We all became friends and I enjoyed my time immensely...#farmsit #petsitter #everypetdeservesavacationEasley South Carolina is a small community in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Here, I was lucky enough to pet sit a lovely homestead with chickens, ducks, and several sweet cats.Masha was a stray who has found her way into everyone's hearts. She was following humans on a trail nearby and my host adopted her, saving her from shelter life and giving her a warm family to love.Masha is a small kitty with a BIG personality. She loves to chat. By day, she is a fearless hunter and an intrepid wanderer. By night, she is a snuggly homecat.The chickens and ducks are a pleasure to watch. There are about 30 chickens and 6 ducks on the property. Betty, Lucy, and Stacey are muscovy ducks with very sweet personalities. There are also 3 mallard females that prefer to keep to themselves, but they love a fresh pond!The chickens are several different breeds. They lay a rainbow of eggs, which are really fun to collect. And really delicious! Breakfast is a busy time. After that, the flock freeranges all day and they put themselves to bed at twilight.They were charmingly friendly. And they loved treats like bits of grape and apple.Gus and his brothers are feral, but very friendly. They are happy to be fed on the back porch. Sometimes they even sleep over. Gus seems to think they could be fed even more. William is the smallest and has some eye problems. Marley is the most skittish. But all of them allowed me to pet them and were more than happy to accept tuna treats that I brought.It was such a peaceful and lovely sitting experience. I really enjoyed being at this homestead. My hosts @ourhomesteadcamper have created a warm and welcoming home. They are kind and caring custodians of their environment. You can even stay in their Airbnb camper, which is immaculate and well-stocked for visitors.If you're looking for some country peace and happiness, check out the camper stay.When you need someone to watch your pets, remember @meegansits is ready for all of your animals, whoever they are. I made some new friends! Wolfie (Maine Coon mix) and Cece are litter mates. Wolfie is very soft and loves attention. He needs coaxing to finish his meals and has to check everything out. I have taken care of Sadie and Chloe several times. It's always a fun experience. SADIE is a high energy mixed breed with shepherd and other working dog genes, so she likes to have tasks. Why strawberries and grapes for pigs only?
Grapes are toxic for dogs, so those are only ok for the pigs. Strawberries might be ok in small amounts for the dogs, but they aren't really meant to eat much fruit. I never knew dogs liked celery, so that was a surprise to me.

@@meegansits I’ve been owned and loved by 4 Mastiffs over the last 25 years. Three of them earned AKC Obedience/Rally titles and were also certified therapy dogs. My health no longer allows me to care for a Mastiff and there’s no other breed for me. How lucky and blessed am I to have shared my life with them!

@@meegansits I volunteered with a Mastiff Rescue group for many years and fostered many prior to adoption. My house is full of antiques. I never had to move one item out of the way. Whether mine or a rescue, they all knew their size and were so careful not to break anything. I’m biased and say without guilt, they truly are gentle and amazing.
