I was so sick, sit their for an hour or longer. Nobody attend to us. They just ignore us. My daughter gave me medicine at home, so I luckily felt a little better. Sitting in a wheelchair, shaking with cold fever, I said to my daugter: let's go home and get medicine from the farmacy! Their were an Indian lady supposedly to evaluate the people but she just ignored everybody! So I am not impressed by that Emergency ward in Sunward!!

Just had a Halo placed recently for Gamma Knife (change the name, already)treatment of an acoustic neuroma. I'm a retired ICU and Interventional Radiology RN and have witnessed thousands of lidocaine injections for numbing purposes, so I was prepared. I was surprised how minimal the pain was If you've ever had a skin biopsy or cryo-burning of a skin lesion, that's how it feels. Yes, it stings for 30 seconds or so, but I felt little discomfort while the Halo was actually screwed into place. Perhaps it was technique or expertise. Removal was performed by an RN and it was a piece of cake. Also, the lidocaine was buffered with bicarb in order to raise the pH level. I think the studies in the reduction in pain of the use of bicarb w/lidocaine are somewhat equivocal, but I was happy to see at least at Emory, it's the standard of care. Be brave. Beats the hell out of digging around your noggin in the O.R.
