In this class, we will explore the main differences between civil and criminal liability. In addition, we will explore what all civil and criminal cases have in common: due process and the burdens of proof perhaps the single-most important ideal of the common law tradition.

In this lecture we will explain why the "law of ideas" is such an important part of the legal environment of business. In addition, we will address the following questions: Can you copyright a tattoo? What type of mark is "ChatGPT"? How does Google protect the rights to its "PageRank" search algorithm? And last but not least: Did Mark Zuckberg "steal" the idea for Facebook?

Unlike the website "HotOrNot", where users assign a number to rank the hotness of photos, Facemash used a more accurate method of ranking: the Elo chess ranking formula.
