Huma on Child & Adolescent Mental Health
Приєднався 20 тра 2010
I am a proud autism mom and an art psychotherapist. This channel is my way of reaching out to all of you, looking for ways to help children achieve emotional well-being by understanding the root of behaviours and how to address the underlying issues. In this regard, I will share my knowledge and experience, professional and personal, of more than 20 years through 'Tips on Child and Adolescent Mental Health'.
Through 'Mo and Me', I will share my journey with Mo, who is my eldest son and is autistic. I hope that my experience of more than 25 years raising Mo will benefit those of you who live and or work with individuals with ASD.

Your videos are really helpful for me as I have just started to work as a special art teacher
Glad to hear that:)
I got this herbal supplement from Dr Oyalo channel and used it on my son for 4week and within the period of using it there was positive changes which really urge me to continue and I can say my son is free from autism now as his speech and social skill has improved
I would be interested in seeing more videos like this - about using art for students (i work in an elementary classroom) with autism.
Hi, you may benefit from my online course which is designed to help teachers work through art with autistic children with sensory issues. You can find the link in the description of this video.

I am speachless, what an amazing journey. ❤ How generous of you to share it.
Apna video Hindi mein bhi daale.plz
I would love to do so in Hindi/Urdu, but my son only speaks English.
Thanks for being so open - mental issues are real and need to be addressed
He's so cute
Wow! What a nice conversation! Your son seems to be very relaxed. Your video gives me hope. My son is 4,5 years old and nonverbal. I wish to hear his voice one day and that he can talk about his childhood, like your son did. Greetings and blessings!
Thank you! I used to wonder if I would ever hear Mo say 'mama', and here he is today :). Never lose hope or belief in miracles.
Kindly educate parents on the negative effects of excessive screen time ,specially on toddlers and young kids .
Thankyou for uploading more videos! Im glad people are aware of mental health nowadays..its so important to get professional help. Bless you!
Thank you, Azeema. Will be posting regularly :).
Dear Huma, I listened to all apisodes. As a human being, mother, grandmother and art therapist, I would absalutly refer people to you! Your life path, and family is just amazing! Mo is a very good teacher. Although it was, is, so complicated, hard, sad and much more, what I feel is power and love. I am sure this makes you an excellent therapist. 😊 Thank you for your optimism and reseliance
Nona, thank you for your kind words. God has blessed me with an amazing life, family and friends. There is no joy without sadness and ease without hardship. Life is the best teacher :)
@@HumaDurrani Yes, I sensed that you feel that as you hold the complaxity of life. 😊
I have been a part of your journey and I always have admired you and Osman for being so open about Moeez. I think as parents seeing your child in distress is the biggest test. But you were so graceful about it, I remember when he had his meltdowns you were never embarrassed. I remember it happening by the pool and people were glaring and in a way being judgmental. Your focus was always about finding ways to calm him down, or allow him to vent it out. You truly are inspirational and have always admired you for this.
Friends like you were and continue to be a tremendous support!
You are right about parental denial regarding their child 's weaknesses, let alone sharing with others and doing something about it. Your story will help give strength to many such parents!😊
Well explained 👍 Glad you spoke about mind/ body approaches to access and process the trauma.
You explained it so clearly. Thankyou
Glad it was helpful!
A very good explanation of the working of the mind and trauma.
There are some excellent books out there on the topic.
Very informative and interesting
Glad u liked it.
You are so brave and loving.
Very interesting activity specially for a child who is in a state of tantrum or outrage
Check out my Tiktok!!!
From Chennai India! Loads of good wishes
Thank you, Iv.
So very admirable and brave of you to come up with your story. Will be a great helping hand for parents to identify similar behavioural patterns. Great Job!👍
Thank you so much!
Awesome
How can we extend our window of tolerance or of our child's?
Watch out for next video.
True ,understanding the exact emotions of our children ,be they of any age is very important
Thankyou for your good advice .Hope we can handle difficult parents successfully. Some parents have very high expectations from their kids. When the child fails to come up to those expectations parents react in a very harsh way
Waiting for your tips to handle such behaviours.
Absolutely right. In such behaviours i think our fast food is also playing a big role. Its neither very healthy for our children's physical health nor for their mental health.
Excellent advice .Kindly guide teachers also because kids spend a large amount of time with them
My son improved excellently from his autism spectrum disorder with assistance of herbal medicine from Solution Healing Home channel on UA-cam. Really liked how you hve inculcated art to help your child prosper and improved his overall skills. Hats Off
Please suggest me what should I do. My 3 year old son is having ASD. Doctors forcing me to put child in therapy centre for 2 years but I donot want to put my son in these centre. Kindly please suggest me what should I do?
HI Deep, I don't know where you are based and what type of therapies you have access to, but children who have autism do require intensive therapy, especially when they are very young. I strongly urge you to read as much as you can about ASD and the different interventions that are available. All the best.

I have just left a.22 yr corporate career in IT to become an Art Therapist. I am a proud mum of a 5 yr old autistic boy. He is the reason, he is a source, of my calling into this new field. Huma, I have started reading some of your journals and find solace and hope in my new ventures. Thank you for all your videos...I am learning alot. Much love, Gowri from Perth.
Thank you for your lovely words, Gowri. Wishing you and your son all the best. I am sure you will be as amazing an art therapist as you are a mom.
Hi Huma, i'm a speech therapist from Chile. I have a question about the "relational" part in this therapy. it's "relational" cause use the Relational Frame Theory for work? like ACT or those therapies that combine RFT and ABA? Thank you so much!
Thankyou for your video.
You are such a brave momma!❤
An incredible process of an art therapist!
A very good interview, questions and answers. I am an art therapist 😊
