I was considering buying one of these off one of those Chinese websites but I ended up just paying $14 for a used real one off of Poshmark I'm much happier with a real one I'm pretty sure mine is a re-release of the 1997 version but at the same time I haven't had one of the originals from 97 in like 15 years when I was still in high school and I had an original official one back in 1997 as well that I had for years until it quit working. I was like I'd rather just pay the extra $10 or so and get a real one especially because of the new member on Poshmark I was able to get the free shipping so for me it was quite literally the better option because I only paid an extra like 10 bucks with free shipping and I have a legitimate one made by Bandai when I saw that the had the reset button on the front I just couldn't bring myself to try to save a little bit of money by find something that I would accidentally reset all the time. Using my free shipping on Poshmark the seller was asking $16 I offered him 10 we met in the middle at 13 after Canadian tax that came to a total of $14.40 Canadian including shipping and I don't have to wait forever for it to get here from China it's coming from someone else within Canada. I just couldn't justify buying a knock off when I could get a used legitimate one with the original box and manual for only $10 more not to mention I wouldn't even get one of the fake ones that have the reset buttons on the front for one of my nephews because I feel like they deserve a good one, it's funny during the original tamagotchi craze in the late 90s and very early 2000s you could get knockoff ones at the dollar store that didn't have a reset button on the front and were perfectly serviceable alternatives to a legitimate tamagotchi this however is just not worth my money and if somebody actually wants to get a tamagotchi for any reason I would recommend looking for a used legitimate one made by Bandai rather than a Chinese knockoff that is fucked up by having the reset button on the front like I can't even getting one of these as a cheap gift for someone I would have to go with tracking down a legitimateBandai one that is on the second hand market rather than giving someone a gift of a crappy knockoff version. I would never recommend someone by the knockoff version but I would recommend getting a second-hand Bandai one all day everyday if you can't afford a brand new Bandai one. Like I'm just not going to pay my hard-earned money for one that has the reset button on the front instead of on the back and requiring a pin pr skewer to reset it because the reset button on the front is a deal-breaker for me and it's not because I have brand loyalty to Bandai if I could track down the ones they sold at the dollar store 20 to 25 years ago that still have the reset button on the back I would have been more than happy to buy a knockoff but I was not willing to sacrifice having the reset button in the correct place so I was more than happy to pay an extra $10 for a used one and I recommend everyone else checking out websites like eBay and Poshmark to get a used one

Okay I actually have a Storytime on how I got my fake tamagotchi. It’s not like I even wanted a real one. But two days ago I looked at my dad and said: “You know what would be funny? If you could get me a cheap tamagotchi for christmas.” And he said: “mhm. Yeah sure. Just let me know when I should order it.” The next day I walk into school. After school I hang out with my friend in the hall and I hear this beeping noise. Then we both hear it again and I say something like: “I bet it’s a dying tamagotchi.” And it was. We named it bob, it’s a frog and we’ve been raising it together in school

Back in the days I had no money for a real tamagotchi, so I decided to go to my corner store and buy those magazines, who had this Tamagotchi inside. I loved this thing, but it was weird and sometimes it made weird sounds. I destroyed it every time I got scared of. It was a nice and creepy childhood experience :D
