A rough explanation of the photographs shown in this video if of interest to anyone. The first few photos (until 0:28) are taken by the side of the Nottingham Emanuel school, where the tram lines run parallel to the old GCR trackbed, and the banks of the Trent. From 0:28 to 0:40 shows remaining GCR viaduct, now supporting part of the tram line, from north of Nottingham Midland to the site of weekday crossing - which can be seen at 0:40. From 0:40 to 0:54 shows the remaining tunnel portal and retaining walls within the Cutting where Nottingham Victoria once stood. The photos from 0:54 to 1:08 show the Northern portal of Sherwood Rise tunnel and the cutting into New Basford station. Everything onwards is north of New Basford showing the remaining bridge buttresses and the sites of stations and their road bridges.

The site of a HS2 station in Nottingham would no doubt have been Victoria, with the shopping centre and flats on top! So many wasted opportunities.

They'll probably eventually extend the GCR North of Ruddington to Terminate (An Interchange) near the Nottingham Tram Network.

Unfortunately alot of the track bed has been torn up, built on or is blocked most of the bridges have gone and what is left intact is Victorian and in such a state of disrepair. It's just not a viable option

It seems to me that there should be an option here for HS2 - since they've just discovered the cost of acquiring the necessary land for the new HS2 has been hugely under-estimated . . . ??

It is unfortunate there is no helpful documentation with these photos. It is not known whereabouts in Nottingham these photos are taken. If each photo had an alphabetic letter and an indication of direction and there was a map with the corresponding letters shown in their due geographical locations much more could be learnt.
