Hey everyone, here's a little update on progress for the new app I'm developing for the fader units I make. It will allow you to program the units on a PC or Mac (and probably Linux too!). FYI you can totally program all the units already without an app, directly on the units themselves, but soon you will have the best of both worlds! Head over to musiotech.com to check out the faders I make.

700$ I don’t think so
Try making something of this quality on your own for $5. Go ahead, I'll wait.
If you understood how expensive it is to make these happen, you'd be saying the opposite. Plus I have to support these for years too - there's an immense amount of money and time that go into these that apparently you have not educated yourself well enough to understand. Besides, you have choices - nobody is forcing you to buy my units. Go buy a $59 controller off eBay if you want. You can buy a $500 beater car, or you can buy a $250,000 Bentley. Both get you from A to B. And both have avid customers - for a reason. But in life, you get what you pay for. There's a reason they've been flying off the shelves. I can't make them fast enough. Literally. Maybe take an economics class or do a little critical thinking before being so rude on someone's product they have slaved over for years that apparently you don't understand the value of.
This is so cool! And so close to what I've been looking for for years! Would you ever consider doing one that also had some nice endless encoders? Maybe they could be next to the faders and the screen could be elongated. I'm interested in the idea of this not just as a helpful automation and recording tool but also a performance tool.
Thanks for your kind message. The units take months - years - to develop, so just adding encoders and a new screen is a huge deal and not something I can just do on a whim. However, have you seen this thread: vi-control.net/community/threads/will-somebody-please-make-a-no-compromise-midi-fader-knob-controller-finally.153744/post-5659671 This guy is making something similar to what you are describing. With motorized faders as well as endless encoders and scribble strip screens.
Great Video! Do You also have the codes to do midi program change to play/Stop Hui Commands? Much appreciated ;D
Hi, I don't have codes for that, but you'll need the MIDI translation software from Bome.com anyway - they have a fantastic forum there and you can ask. I found out all the info I needed for this video from that forum. Good luck!
If your fader controller also had buttons, what would need to be added to the script so that a button press would move up and down to the next 4 tracks in the session in order to switch through all the tracks? Because you always only control the first 4 faders but a button script that would allow to move up to the next 4 tracks for example.
Hi mate! The algorithm just popped this up for me. Holy crap, your devices are kind of like the Maserati upon the MIDI fader world. I am not a pro, just a VST drummer dipping my toes into MIDI programming. Now I grabbed an Arduino Pro Micro and 4 faders :). And I am right before finishing my first DIY faderbox. Now I just implemented a simple button to go through 4 banks. But scences is more fancy. I added a few more buttons to have a sustain and sustain hold and sostenuto avaible. The case is just 3D printed. Your wood design is really, really smooth.
Aw bless you man! Thanks for the kind words! Your controller sounds cool! Keep going!
PS - the smooth wood is the result of many hours of sanding and finishing lol. They don't call it woodWORKING for nothing!
may I ask what microcontroller this is based on?
Of course - Teensy.
This looks fantastic. Thanks for making the world better! I will prob grab one or two. I like to use midi controllers for hardware synths to make them more expressive.
Does this work for Faderprt 2? Thanks for the video!
Hi Frank, I haven't tested it with it, I'm so sorry. But you can download the software from bome.com for free and see if it will work. You can get the script from the description under the video here: www.musiotech.com/learning/v/protools-with-midi-faders?categoryId=66cf808b72bfc51f5abe1aa5
This helped me get up and running with my FVDE controller! Thank you! Quick question, how to you control plug-in automation? The cc to tt only does "volume" automation and seems to be linked to that even when you change the automation dropdown in protools to a plug-in property. I am assuming there must be something in the language to denote bus automation or something?
Hi Russellav, thanks for the message. I don't have an answer for you, but I can point you to the bome.com website, where they have a forum with folks who could help you with this. Sorry I can't be more helpful, and thanks for the kind comment.
Do you happen to know how to get some knobs to work? I am stuck with the pan knob control and the "next group" commands
Hi, sorry I can't really troubleshoot problems from here. But you can go to Bome.com website and there's a forum where you can get help if you are using their software. HTH.
Hey man, no worries! I found a workaround and got it kicking! Thanks for replying anyways.

How do I get this configuration to use in Pro Tools?
Email me at mike@musiotech.com and I'll send you the script. 😀
Looks just like the FVDE from Audio Imperia! but Smaller size.
Or perhaps theirs looks like ours? ;) Our unit is very different. All onboard programming, no app required. High end faders with custom hand installed internal dust covers. Gorgeous screen (FVDE is monochrome). 8 Saved scenes to FVDE's 5. Thousands of hours of programming and attention have gone into these units. But do check out FVDE; they offer 14-bit MIDI support (which is a minefield because it's implemented different ways in different DAWs), and they also offer an external MIDI port. Thanks for the comment.
Very impressive stuff 😀
Off the back of your hardwork...seriously tho, I will have to list you as a coauthor! Love your library, thank you so much for your amazing support. I hope life is good for you Peter :) You deserve it!
@@musiotech By all means give a credit to G4P but a coauthor is too much, after all you don't credit Oracle for providing Java
Awesome!
Thank you Diego! Glad you like it!
ProTools seem so restrictive and dated compared to other DAWs. I mean having to translate CC to HUI is so backwards when you think about it.
I think it's because they sell hardware that needs the protocols. So they create a little closed system where you have to use their stuff only type of thing (I could be wrong tho).
Lovely, precisely what I need...
May I also have the script. I would be very appreciative. Just bought a Nuances fader and would love to use with Pro Tools. Thanks!!!
Sure! Just send me an email at Mike@MusioTech.com
Where can I get your file?
email me: mike@musiotech.com
What if i wanted to use a fader on my midi keyboard?
I haven't tried it, but it should be the same principle - you'll need MIDI translation software to make it work. Message me at mike@musiotech.com and I'll send you the script.
This Micro Premium is my favorite out of your controllers so far! Incredible work! Any chance of a knob and fader version in the future? Heheh 😅
I'm always open to suggestions! I've purposefully tried to keep the design as simple and minimal as possible, but I do like your idea. It took me a solid year though to make this one, legit, and that's building on the previous version that took 1.5 years too. They take ages, as a single developer. So yeah, I like the idea, tell me more what you'd be interested in the knob exactly to do, besides the obvious pan?
Looks beautiful even though i don't fully understand what i would be using this for. Is it meant to be used with a DAW? A demo would be nice.
Yes, these are high end, but "standard" MIDI faders used with a DAW like Cubase or Logic etc. They are not motorized, but they have excellent faders and they are easy to program with a large screen :)
Nice work. Thanks@@musiotech
@@musiotechI would use it for my remote hardware synths. CCs don‘t care what they are sent to, right?
@@RayyMusik The unit outputs CC MIDI data. So if your hardware synth reads CC MIDI data, it should be fine.
It looks really great. I would love to learn more about motor faders. I'm looking into this topic myself and the projects I find online just seem to magically make motorfaders work or they don't use them because you hardly find any real information how the feedback from the DAW really works (besides the specific control protocols some manufacturers use). Is there a way to integrate them without using a specific protocol like Mackie Control? Some people seem to make it work using Arduinos but nobody really wants to talk about the specifics I feel like :D really interesting topic. I could see myself being interested in a version with motorfaders.
Hi cobralyoner, thanks for your message. The problem with the motorized faders is twofold. First, MIDI doesn't work with motorized faders - because there is no feedback from DAWs to provide location info for the faders. Second, it's super expensive, and complicated to implement, not only because the motorized faders themselves are expensive, but because in order to implement them, you have to use HUI or Mackie Control language - which is not well referenced. It's actually a proprietary protocol you have to hack to figure out (although the info is out there if you search for it). One thing you can do to provide some control-surface like functions to MIDI faders is use a MIDI translation software, like what they sell at bome.com In any case, thanks for your kind words, and all the best :)
What am i connecting it to
Hi, you would connect it directly to your computer via USB-C, or sometimes you'll need to connect it to a powered USB hub. The computer will recognize it without the need for drivers or installing anything.
@@musiotech Thank you so much for not using micro usb or usb-b or some other decades old connector like Korg or Boss or Zoom or any other legacy company would use in the year 2024.
Must. Have. We'll be talking...
