Everything except for the gas and supply is fine
Thank you for your comment, @SPUTNIK6996. While the gas and supply lines are critical components, several other significant issues in this installation compromise the system's safety, efficiency, and longevity. Here's a breakdown of the concerns: Permitting and Inspection: The installation lacked proper permits and inspections, which are essential to ensure compliance with local building codes and safety standards. Unpermitted work can lead to legal complications and potential hazards. Warranty Registration: The system wasn't registered for warranty, leaving the homeowner unprotected against potential defects or failures. Manufacturers often require registration to validate warranties. Low-Voltage Wiring: The low-voltage wire was exposed and not enclosed in conduit, increasing the risk of physical damage and electrical hazards. Proper conduit installation protects wiring from environmental and mechanical damage. Outdoor Unit Securing: The outdoor unit wasn't bolted to the pad, making it susceptible to movement due to vibrations or severe weather, which can damage refrigerant lines and electrical connections. Refrigerant Line Insulation: The copper refrigerant lines were improperly insulated with non-UV-rated material. UV exposure can degrade insulation, leading to energy loss and reduced system efficiency. Filter Dryer Placement: The filter dryer was installed outside, contrary to manufacturer instructions that typically specify installation 12-14 inches from the indoor coil. Incorrect placement can impair system performance and longevity. Breaker Sizing: The electrical breaker wasn't sized according to manufacturer specifications, posing risks of electrical overloads or insufficient protection. Supply Plenum Issues: The indoor supply plenum was incorrectly sized and inadequately sealed, leading to airflow imbalances and reduced system efficiency. Refrigerant Piping Configuration: The refrigerant pipes lacked an inverter loop and were installed in a manner that compromised the supply plenum and access to the evaporator coil, hindering maintenance and proper operation. Drainage System Deficiencies: An incorrect drain safety switch was used, and the PVC pipes were not installed to code, lacking a P-trap. The drain pan didn't have a safety switch, increasing the risk of water damage if the coil freezes or the drain clogs. Flue Pipe Non-Compliance: A single-wall dryer vent pipe was used for the flue, secured with screws, which is not code-compliant and poses safety hazards. Return Plenum and Ductwork: The return plenum was improperly sized, causing insufficient intake airflow. The system's tonnage was increased without corresponding adjustments to the plenums or ductwork, leading to inefficiencies. No Manual J load calculations were performed prior to installation, which are essential for proper system sizing. Gas Line Installation: The gas line lacked a sediment trap, a code requirement to prevent debris from entering the system. These issues highlight a lack of adherence to industry standards and best practices, which can lead to system failures, safety hazards, and increased costs for homeowners. Proper HVAC installation should comply with local codes, manufacturer specifications, and industry standards to ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability. For comprehensive guidelines on quality HVAC installation, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) provides detailed standards and codes. ACCA Additionally, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) offers standards and guidelines that are widely recognized in the industry. ASHRAE Adhering to these standards helps ensure that HVAC systems are installed correctly, providing comfort, safety, and energy efficiency for homeowners.

How do you switch from elecrtic to gas heat ?
The Amana® brand smart thermostat is designed to automatically switch between your heat pump and gas furnace in a dual-fuel system, ensuring optimal efficiency and comfort. When outdoor temperatures drop below a certain threshold, the thermostat transitions from the heat pump to the gas furnace, which can provide more effective heating in colder conditions. If you prefer to manually switch to gas heating, you can activate the "Emergency Heat" mode on your thermostat. This setting turns off the heat pump and relies solely on the gas furnace for heating. To enable Emergency Heat, navigate to the system mode settings on your thermostat and select "Emergency Heat." This feature is particularly useful if your heat pump is malfunctioning or unable to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature. For detailed instructions on configuring and operating your Amana smart thermostat, refer to the Homeowner Guide provided by Amana. Thank you for engaging with our content. We appreciate your support and hope this information assists you in managing your home's heating system effectively.

Is it the same model as Daikin Fit? Do you know if their thermostats are interchangeable?
Great question! Yes, this is the same style as the Daikin Fit. Both units share the same technology-slim, quiet, and equipped with amazing warranties. 😉 I'm not entirely sure if the thermostats are interchangeable, but we can definitely check that in our training lab. Thank you for posting this. We are looking for the same unit in Montreal, Canada & sadly, the majority of the local HVAC companies either do not have any experience with UV lights or they say it is useless and a waste of money and do not recommend it.
Thanks for your comment and engagement! We really appreciate it 😊 UV lights are an awesome addition to any HVAC system! They work by reducing bacteria, viruses, and allergens, helping to keep your indoor air cleaner and healthier. If you're looking to improve air quality, UV lights can be a great investment. I’d recommend reaching out to companies that specialize in air purification-they can give you more insight into how UV technology can benefit your home. Best of luck with your search!

What's the best way to replace existing ductwork from a 5 Ton Trane that does not cool a lot of the house? And presuming this is cheaper than going with Mitsubishi?
Great question, @Shyatic! When it comes to replacing existing ductwork, it's essential to perform a proper load calculation to ensure you're getting the right airflow (measured in CFMs) to each part of the house. The ductwork size and layout can significantly impact the overall performance of your 5 Ton Trane system, especially if it’s not cooling evenly. If the issue is poor airflow, replacing the ductwork could make a big difference. As for comparing it to a Mitsubishi system, if you’re talking about a ductless mini-split, that’s a whole different approach. Ductless systems offer zoned control and can be more energy efficient, especially in situations where ductwork is hard to modify or replace. However, each system has its strengths, so it’s worth evaluating the cost-effectiveness of both options based on your home’s specific needs. I’d recommend having a professional perform a detailed assessment to make sure you're making the most informed decision for comfort and efficiency. Thanks again for reaching out!
@@primehvac every single company I've called can't figure out shit, everybody just wants to sell me a new unit and more stuff. The only way I've figured to get cooling in the areas I need it and with better control and cost is swapping to mini splits + ducted. If it can be solved simply by ductwork changes I'm happy to save the money and give you guys a good review for it, but pretty much every HVAC company in DFW apparently doesn't know anything, so would be eager to give you guys the opportunity to help fix the problems.
Ah I forgot to ask, how many sqft of house does that sized system support?
Great question! When sizing your ductwork and HVAC unit, you should refer to your heat load calculation and the Manual J results. As a general rule of thumb, you can size your ductwork at 400 CFM per ton and your HVAC unit at 500 square feet per ton. It's crucial to ensure that the unit size aligns with your calculations, but these parameters should serve as a helpful guideline. Hope this helps!
KK 1st thing is, How much did that particular install cost from start to finish. All parts and labor end total? 2nd, if they actually had a company come out once a year or even every 2 years at least, it would be much cleaner in there. Clean and disinfect your air Ducts ppl, it makes it last longer and helps prevents the build up of mold and dust. Hopefully they do that with the new one.
@Little_Bitz, Thank for watching and commenting on our video. It means a lot to us and we appreciate your engagement! Now to answer your question..you're absolutely right-regular cleaning and maintenance of your HVAC system can significantly extend its lifespan and improve performance by preventing the buildup of dust and mold. In this case, the original unit and ductwork were over 35 years old, so the customer opted for a full remodel. This included new ductwork, IAQ air purification products, and a dual fuel 20 SEER2 heat pump system. A complete system replacement like this, including new copper, ductwork, electrical, and gas, typically ranges in the mid-30k. Of course, the final cost can vary depending on the specific options chosen, the area you're located in, and the contractor you select. Thanks for the great questions!
so cool

It’s nice to build great relationships and networks. This customer really did his homework. Hopefully these new inverters make it another 20 years. Glad you guys made it happen.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our video and leave such a thoughtful comment! We truly appreciate our customers, and it's always rewarding to hear that our efforts to go above and beyond are noticed. We couldn't agree more-building great relationships and networks is key to providing the best service possible. We're confident that with the care and expertise we put into every installation, these new inverters will serve the customer well for many years to come. Here's to another 20 years of reliable performance! Thanks again for your support!
How long does it take you to install 1 of these? I took the training for the s series through johnstone supply when they were first rolling these out and from what i got out of it, it was going to be a 2 day install because of how precise the evacuation process had to be. You have to evacuate for close to 8 hours alone so theres no way you can get an install done in 1 day unless your working a 12 hr day.
Absolutely, the first couple of installations can be the most daunting as you’re getting familiar with the process. However, once your team has developed a solid procedure, and your lead installers and installation team have been properly trained and equipped with the right tools, this installation can be done efficiently and reliably, every time, no matter the circumstances. Thank you for watching and commenting on our videos-it really means a lot to us. Your engagement helps us continue to improve and share valuable information with the community.
Why did you decide to reduce that suction line? Looks like it is 7/8" coming out of coil and reduces to 3/4 " ?
Thanks for your sharp eye and knowledgeable observation! Reducing a 7/8" line down to 3/4" can impact system efficiency, depending on the specific setup. In this case, the reduction was necessary to match the equipment's design while maintaining optimal refrigerant flow. We made sure everything was sized correctly during installation to keep the system running smoothly. Thanks for your attention to detail! And thank you for watching commenting and engaging on our video it means a lot to us!
Great customer!
We had a blast with Thomas and Judith-they were fantastic in the video! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts.
@@primehvac does that unit only work with multi speed motor units, or does the adapter change any unit to a variable speed blower?
This unit is versatile and compatible with any coil that has a TXV. If the indoor unit does not have a true variable-speed motor, using the blower relay adapter allows the system to mimic low, medium, and high speeds. Ideally, it should be paired with a system that features a true variable-speed motor or a Y1/Y2 terminal on the control board. However, if that's not the case, it still remains a great option for the customer. They can always upgrade their air handler or furnace in the future when they are ready.
@@primehvac I'd be selling those left and right!

Oye loco, a little help here. Curious to know much square footage does a 4 ton Amana S series cover? I'd call your company to come out and do mine but I'm pretty sure that you're not driving out to Pennsylvania just to help a customer out lol. My cousins live in Texas though so I'm glad i found a company i can refer them too. Con confidence!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting on our video! We really appreciate your support and recommendation to your cousin in Texas. While we’d love to make a trip up to Pennsylvania, we’re sure there are some great companies up there who can help you out. As for your question, a 4-ton unit typically covers between 2,200 and 2,700 square feet, especially in ZONE 2, which includes Pennsylvania. However, to get a more accurate estimate, it’s important to do a heat load calculation that considers factors like windows, rooms, and insulation. Also, make sure your ductwork is correctly sized for the necessary CFM and tonnage. For a 4-ton unit, you’ll need at least 1,600 CFM for your return and supply ducts. You can determine the correct duct size by referring to a duct chart. I hope this gives you a good starting point for properly sizing and designing your system. Thanks again for your support and for recommending us to your cousin! If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out.

Ok, where does that wall plate come from for that thermostat? Is it a generic one or one made for it? Thanks. Im getting a Daikin and don't see a wall plate for their Daikin One Touch tstat.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting on our video. The wall plates are designed specifically for the thermostats. You can order one from your local Daikin dealer. While the Amana S thermostat and the Daikin One thermostat are similar, their backplates are slightly different. The backplate we use for our Amana S will be different from the Daikin One.
Your not saving the customer any room when you install the ODU 2' frim the house. That could have been much closer if you guys used tube benders. 6/10 on that install.
Thank you for watching, commenting, and rating our installers. While we appreciate your feedback, we believe our installation team deserves a higher rating than a 6. For this installation, the unit was not placed on a low lot line property, meaning there were no fences or walls within 24 inches of the unit. It was installed in an open yard, adhering to normal installation procedures and the city code that requires the unit to be 12 inches away from the wall. Our team strives to use the best techniques and tools, such as tube benders, which allow them to make precise turns on the copper piping from the wall into the unit. Due to the unique design of this unit, which has refrigerant valves on the opposite side and cannot be turned around to adjust the copper entry angle, we had to route the copper longer. We understand that everyone has different styles and approaches to installation. Thank you for your feedback and for engaging with our video! In our opinion, our installers deserve a 9/10 rating. They work very hard to provide quality and exceptional service day in and day out. Happy Customers, Happy Employees - the rest we can always improve. 😉

Do yall have a condenser coil for a Trane XE 1100 (TTN048D100A0)? Or tips on how to repair a leak?
Thank you for watching and commenting on our video. Unfortunately we do not carry any parts or sell to the public. Your best bet is to reach out to your local Trane dealer and see if they have a replacement coil for you. If the leak in the coil is in an area where it's only copper to copper you might have some luck in an attempt to repair the leak.
Really top notch install and finish. Great job! But I also know the homeowners paid an absolute fortune to have all that ductwork ripped out, new line sets run, and the who install. Appears they opted for every possible bell and whistle, including the AprilAir filtration, the custom smart thermostat, and all that. I would not want to get that bill. I'd bet a weeks wages that the AC system you just installed was more likely half the cost of the entire home when it was new, seeing its apparent age. Finally, the real kick in the teeth is when you hear people in the industry say AC systems in the south may only last 8-15 years or so. Lol. For that kind of money, it should last the life of the home.
Thank you so much for watching our video and for your kind words about our installation! We pride ourselves on delivering top-notch service and quality, and we're thrilled you appreciated it! We understand your concerns about the costs of such comprehensive installations. In this case, the homeowners chose a premium Dual Fuel system with features like the AprilAir filtration, ApcoX for enhanced indoor air quality, and new ducts with blown-in insulation. They also opted for the Amana S Thermostat, which is essential for optimizing this particular setup. For them, this was their forever home, and they wanted the best air and heating system for the future. The fantastic news is that the unit we installed comes with a 99-year replacement warranty for both the outdoor and indoor units. This essentially means a lifetime replacement warranty, ensuring their investment is protected for the long haul. It's true that AC systems in the South can have shorter lifespans due to the harsh climate, but the quality of installation and routine maintenance are key to longevity. Our goal with every installation is to give these units the best chance to last 15+ years, ideally. Thank you again for your comment on our video!
@@primehvac What does that 99 year replacement involve? Also thanks for sharing the intricate details as to what was installed. I thought it looked like a lot going on. What is the ApcoX and Aprilaire products you had installed? Are they recommended with the, was it on the furnace or the AC? I am having mine replaced with a ASZS60 and AMVC96 furnace soon. Just looking to see if I chose a good system and if there's any add-on I should consider that dont involve new ducts bc they are not ripping open walls to do that mess, lol. I have to be honest, I cant say this is my forever home but I do want something that will last. I do know, however that with all Amana installs, the life of the warranty dies upon sale of the home. Which sucks for the buyers but...if its taken care of, serviced several times required out of the year and the air ducts are also cleaned and sanitized once a year or every 2 years, that should help with the longevity of the system.
@Little_Bitz Great choice! If you haven't installed the unit yet, I'd recommend asking your installer if they can provide the latest model in that lineup, the ASZH5. It's an excellent single-stage heat pump that should offer you many years of comfort. For add-on products like the Apco X and the AprilAire filtration system, these are great options your installer might suggest to enhance the air quality in your home. The 99-year warranty covers a unit replacement if the compressor ever fails. These units are designed with numerous features and safety protocols that protect the compressor from potential damage. It's crucial that the installer follows the manufacturer's guidelines to give the compressor the best chance at a long lifespan. It's important to note that the warranty is only valid for the original purchaser and homeowner, so it won’t transfer when you sell the house. However, with proper maintenance, the new homeowners should inherit an excellent system. Thank you for watching and commenting on our videos-we truly appreciate your engagement. Hope this helps!

can this be paired with a Amanda Modulating gas unit? tks
Hey John, Thank you for watching and commenting on our video. The Amana S is very versatile because you can pair it with any furnace, including modulating gas units. If you just want to replace the coil and the condenser, the Amana S has an adapter that makes it compatible with virtually any gas furnace. However, we recommend installing a full system, including the gas furnace and the outdoor condenser, to achieve the best performance and overall technology. By the way, you can also make it a dual-fuel system, which can save you more money in the winter depending on which area of the country you live in. This is the best way to install these high-efficiency Amana S systems. Hope this helps 👍
If you are in the DFW area, give us a call if you're interested in getting a quote on replacing your air conditioning system with the Amana S. We'll provide you with a free estimate.
I have a installer who can install This system but he is not amana dealer. I am in socal. Will amana honor warranty? Is it need to be installed only by amana dealer listed in their website?
Hi! Thank you for watching and commenting on our video! We really appreciate it. To ensure your Amana warranty is honored, it's generally required that the installation is performed by a certified Amana dealer. This is because certified dealers are trained to install the systems correctly, which helps avoid any issues that could void the warranty. It's best to check Amana's official website or contact their customer service to get specific details on their warranty policies. The Amana S is not your typical HVAC system and so it requires a very precise installation to ensure you get the most longevity and performance out of it.
@@primehvac thanks for the reply. I ll check with amana.
So the designer does blower door testing and man j/d?
Thank you for watching and commenting on our video! We appreciate the support.
Great work
Line set color is butt ugly. If they don't make it in white, spray paint it. Looks like an after thought.
Thank you for watching and commenting on the video! We leave the line set covers as they are so that homeowners can paint them to match their home’s exterior as they wish. We agree that matching every line set cover to the color of the home's exterior wall would look great. However, painting them without matching the customer's paint precisely might not achieve the desired look. Therefore, allowing homeowners to handle the painting ensures they get the exact match they want.
Thank goodness for goodman.. and the amana brand too
Thank you for watching and commenting on our video! America's brand for comfort! #loveAmana
Is that a good unit? Is it noisy?
@mistymyers2417 Thank you for interacting and commenting on our video! This is an amazing entry level unit. It has a great warranty and is one of the quietest entry level equipment you can get. If you're concerned about noise I would consider the next level up option. The Amana S side discharge is one of the quietest AC or Heat pump units you can purchase. Hope that helps 👍
The most important questions that have not been answered are how much more is this system than a traditional system and what is the expected cost savings for efficiency. If the system is $5-$6K more than it would most likely not pay for itself over the life of the system. Most new systems would last 10 years if your lucky. This system seems more complicated which means fewer companies trained which would also result in higher long term costs. Having a cloud thermostat monitored by a 3rd party means if the electric company wants to shut your system down due to a grid issue someone could access your system remotely. I would suggest providing more facts related to features and benefits. It sounds more like the system benefits the Manufacturer and installation company. I can only imagine the cost of replacement parts. Is the cloud service an additional cost? What is the warranty my guess is 2 years on labor 10 years parts but only to the original purchaser. Just my opinion the more sophisticated and complex the more potential failure points.
Thank you so much for your comment! We really appreciate your thoughtful questions and love engaging with such curious minds. Your questions are all valid and reasonable, and we’re happy to provide some answers. 1. Cost Comparison: The cost difference between our system and traditional systems is an important factor. Our mid-tier high-efficiency unit is actually comparable to, or even lower in cost than, a traditional 2-stage unit. This makes it an attractive option for homeowners looking for both efficiency and affordability without compromising on quality. 2. System Longevity: High-efficiency inverter systems are designed and built to last well beyond 10 years. They come equipped with numerous features, including low pressure and high-pressure switches, amp monitoring, suction pressure, and refrigerant temperature sensors, among others. These features ensure the system can avoid catastrophic failures by proactively managing and monitoring its operations. Traditional basic units often lack these advanced safety features, making them more prone to failures. While traditional systems have their place, they typically do not offer the same level of reliability and durability as our advanced systems. 3. Advanced Training and Industry Trends: The advanced training required for these units ensures that you're hiring top-tier professionals. As new EPA regulations and refrigerants like R32 and 454b become standard, this technology will become more prevalent, making single-stage and 2-stage equipment obsolete. Within the next five years, high-efficiency inverter systems will likely become the norm. 4. Cloud Thermostat and Security: Our cloud services provide extensive monitoring capabilities, such as run times, humidity control, and failure diagnostics, all aimed at saving time and enhancing system efficiency. These services are included with all installations, with no monthly or yearly fees. Homeowners have full control over their system's monitoring settings and can choose to opt out if they prefer. Rest assured, electric companies or other third parties do not have access to your system, as it is secured through Amana’s cloud and dealer cloud services. 5. Replacement Parts and Warranty: Our 10-year parts and labor warranty covers the original homeowner, providing peace of mind for a decade. Beyond this period, replacement parts for these systems are no more expensive than those for typical 2-stage or high-efficiency inverter systems. Proper installation with the best tools and practices enhances the system's longevity, aiming for well beyond 10 years. At Prime AC and Heat, our goal is to provide top-quality installations to ensure long-lasting performance. Industry Evolution and Customer Benefits: The HVAC industry is constantly evolving, pushing the boundaries of efficiency and durability. While new technologies can seem challenging, having a well-trained and capable installation company as your partner is crucial. Every manufacturer is shifting towards high-efficiency inverter systems, and more of these systems will continue to enter the market. Homeowners benefit the most in this competitive landscape, gaining access to highly efficient and reliable systems. By choosing the right company, customers ensure their investment is supported by extensive training and a commitment to future-proofing their systems. We hope this answers your questions thoroughly and provides a clearer picture of the benefits and reliability of our systems. Thank you again for your engagement and thoughtful questions. We have many videos coming down the pipeline which we're working on a series that demonstrates the difference between a traditional single-stage equipment and these new inverter driven systems. At our shop we have a system that we installed for training and for customers to walk in and see the systems in action. If you haven't already please subscribe to our channel to continue your support and stay tuned for more videos in the future. Thanks again
Thank you for your quick reply. For a comparison I was quoted $6K more than a conventional system with TXV / 2 stage furnace as I live in the midwest. If I take $6K at a modest interest rate of 5% compounded over 10 years that return is $9200. I seriously doubt I would obtain a $9200 efficiency savings. I am all for new more efficient technology but not at the cost of the consumer. If the Manufacturer truly believed the systems would last well beyond 10 years than why not offer a 20 year warranty in addition most people will most likely move within 10 years voiding the warranty. This is just my opinion and I can tell you 95% of people never ask the right questions which is why the EV car market is struggling because people have realized the value is not there. Thanks for your time and all the best to you.
