4 budew Is the new stall
12:00 Shouldn't have been able to Cosmic Power once Wobbuffet went to the active. Ultimately he could've just retreated anyway so it probably didn't matter
Cosmic power is a poke power not ability
Shouldn't the tera ability have stopped the torchic from koing the ogerpon?
It should have! That's a good catch and I'm disappointed that none of us caught that.
@@JustInBasilI hate that I didn't catch that either
are Deck list on the site?
In the video
Gengar lvX reads ‘put onto Gengar’. If Gengar lvX and Gengar have the same name, then you can place Gengar lvX onto another Gengar lvX in play, since it matches its name. It looks like this line that Gengar… and Gengar lvX have the same name goes back to the B&W rule book. During the D&P era, the book says ‘For Deck Construction, Pokemon lvX count as that pokemon.’ I think there is a fine difference here. The original rule sounds like a targeted deckbuilding rule to balance lvX pokemon. It does NOT state that they ‘have the same name,’ just that they count to the same deck list quota. The rule from B&W onward seems like a misapplication of the old rule, generalizing to say they have the same name, which would allow Gengar lvX to level up from another Gengar lvX just as easily as from a Gengar lv46. (The rulebook does not event attempt to prohibit this interpretation, and I could find no relevant rulings in the compendium.) The modern rule seems to treat lvX (a proto-rulebox label) the same as e.g. lv44 (mere flavor text.) Alas, not much to be done about this nonsense, except make a deck that uses love ball, repeat ball and familiar bell to grab the lvX for your pokemon or vice versa.
@@joshuasims5421 so if I'm understanding correctly that means I can put empolion break on top of the lv. X lol
As a gen4 stan id love to see more SP control
The pilot of SP control has been informed. We'll be working it into the schedule. Looks tentatively like January at the moment!
i wonder if computer search is going to get reprinted
Unless they decide to continue printing ACE SPEC cards in SV9 and onward next year, I don't think we will see a Computer Search reprint. I think Prismatic Evolutions is probably our last set with new ACE SPEC cards, though.
Can you run 4 of any future Arceus prints ontop of the Platinum Arceus prints? Would make for some fun deckbuilding if you could just slot the Lv. Xs in there without having to account for the number
Is there a good fusion strike deck?
@@james2944 Yes! Fusion Strike Dragapult is quite potent!
How does the Arceus rule interact with the promo XY197 Arceus? I found a Japanese ruling on the issue, but from the machine translation it's not very clear to me whether you're allowed to have any number of Arceus XY197 in your deck if you also have at least one of the old Arceus, or whether you're not allowed to have more than 4 Arceus XY197 no matter what. I'm pasting it here, I'm sure you'll understand it better: Q: DPシリーズの「アルセウスルール」でデッキに何枚でも入れられるアルセウスと、XYシリーズのアルセウスをデッキに入れるとき、XYシリーズのアルセウスは、デッキに何枚入れることができますか? A: XYシリーズのアルセウスは、「アルセウスルール」を持つアルセウスと合わせて、スタンダードデッキ(60枚デッキ)であれば4枚まで、ハーフデッキ(30枚デッキ)であれば2枚まで入れることができます。
9:00 it's weird that the TRH does not mention Special Energy cards here, given the massive difference in effects Metal Energy and Darkness Energy have had between eras (and also the subtle difference for Recycle Energy, plus possibly other cool stuff I'm not aware of)
38:28 RIP Light Jolteon
Can you do a Regidrago with Eggsecutor ex and OBF altalaria and Dragonite energy hurricane pls
Regidrago VSTAR is banned in the Eternal format.
Love ur videos
i feel like having to know which cards are from gen 4 to know that when it says trainer means item is a bit off putting/gate keeping/confusing. surly they should be treated as we would understand trainer cards to mean what they do now and then banned or allowed accordingly
@@bobsmith7351 It’s not the ruling to treat Diamond & Pearl “Trainer” as modern “Trainer,” so we don’t. Frankly, it would surprisingly be more confusing trying to re-interpret “Trainer” from that card as today’s meaning of Trainer-and it would straight up break a lot of cards.
love having these in the bg when im writing
The TM stipulation definitely feels like some shenanigans. Its weird having each wave being treated differently when a lot of other mechanical designations are carried over.
I'm not the one who issued the ruling. They [the old TMs] still act the same way they used to, at least.
Very clear and effective. Length is not an issue the point is made, examples are perfect.
I just would like to say that he played the Jasmine at 9:38 and finally started shuffling after picking his 5 metal pokemon at 13:00 making his Jasmine search a total of 3 minutes and 22 seconds XD
list for dialga?
In the video
Shame that it seems that even this format barely any actual old cards are relevant
Every deck is different. Some decks lean very heavily on older cards (like Weezing DX or Dialga G LV.X Control), whereas others lean more heavily on newer cards. The beauty of this format is the sheer size of the card pool and the options you have available to you as a result.
Are you sure aegislash v would work? Vileplume prevents basic pokemon from attacking, rather than preventing damage. So i don’t think you could attack with a shred attack on a basic pokemon unless i am mistaken. Zacian vstar might be an okay alternative perhaps?
@@rockyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy You are right. Zacian VSTAR is definitely the better pick and my deck is already updated with it anyway. Consider our Aegislash V comments the result of 1am-after-a-very-long-week-at-work brain.
I just realized that Eternal Format Hydrapple's a monster with that Sceptile.
Probably Minun was not seen more often because of Dragapult ex. With it now banned, seems like it has very little downside.
Could Zacian V use Latias ex to lessen reliance on Float Stone? That would probably open more possibilities to use Rusted Sword, which would then only have to compete with Forest Seal Stone for the Tool spot
This seems like a good call, though I’d almost certainly have to go up on Stealthy Hood to protect the Ability against Garbotoxin and the like
Good explanation but I have an opinion: since you control this whole format and it's ban list I believe for simplicity you need to mass errata everything to be an ability. Since all 4 mechanics are functionally the same you need to make the change so that newer players aren't getting blown out by this "gotcha" interaction
I belive that abitys are considered apart because when HGSS was in Standar with BW and in PTCGO's legacy format, were also condidered apart.
@@ishierrogamer7798 that's my point. They shouldn't be considered apart. They all function the same. For example I got someone with Snorlax from WotC era because it was a pokémon power
@@pikachuhoodie The idea of the Eternal format is to have a playable version of Unlimited. Other than deck building restrictions (the ban list and a pair of rules like Research/Sycamore/Juniper), the rules concerning gameplay are meant to be followed 100%.
Really helpful. I'm hoping I can get some of my friends to try the format with me
Thank you Justin! This was really well made and it cleared things up that I found confusing. Keep up the great work bud :)
MORE SAND 😂
I don't think SIRs or golds are confirmed per box I think it's more likely to be one every two boxes for SIRs and one every three for golds
I would hate playing with a A**Hole on the right smh.
I would think the Guzzlord from Cosmic Eclipse would at least help somewhat against single prizers even if it's a massive attack cost.
am I missing smth game 3? Couldnt he... night stretcher for Lumineon for Boss? I must be forgetting smth but am curious
Why legacy over blender?
Prize trade. Blender only does 5 energy which you can do with so many other cards. It won’t matter
I played alot Saturday with this deck and blender. It's rather easy to ramp damage without it. I'd rather have legacy as well
game 2 has legacy energy should be take only 4price
Temple was in play shuts off legacy
What about promos? I'm writing one out and I don't understand what to write
@@maxiumfox5402 The abbreviations for promo cards are listed on the side of your deck list sheet. For promo cards before Scarlet & Violet, the set abbreviation is PR. Then, you add in the full number of the card, like SWSH001, for the collector number. For Scarlet & Violet era promo cards and later, the abbreviation is written on the card itself, like SVP.
Tera orb is such a game changer for me
Why wouldn’t you let him take back the iono at 22:31 ?
Because he didn’t want to go down to 5 cards and he was annoyed cause dude was playing too quickly. Idk bro the whole point is to see how good the deck actually is and while it sucks that the dude was misplaying, I would have rather see the correct lines instead of sharking for a UA-cam video
@ exactly what I was getting at. I played at Baltimore regionals and felt bad for forcing a misplay after being asked to take it back. In casual settings I always give take backs for the sake of learning how to play optimally. This whole video felt off, especially for play testing….
@ I mean yeah but that’s a different situation altogether because it’s a premier event with a lot at stake compared to a 3-4 round locals. You want to make the mistakes here instead of there.
is eternal same as expanded?
No. Expanded only goes back to Black & White base set. Eternal goes back to the original Base Set.
I think Hydreigon Ex is a come from behind deck so I think more counter gain and catchers is the call and as well as a town store to be able to get such tools. I also think a tera orb wouldn't hurt in this deck but I need to test this deck, can't wait till I can get my hands on this set.
Have you ever considered making erratas or rulings for cards that would make the cards function in Eternal the way they were intended? For example, you could rule that Green's Exploration cannot be used it you have any pokemon with Poke-bodies or poke-powers out as well, or that Smeargle works the way the other attack-copying effects work. Sometimes the ban just feels like such a blunt measure for a case where we all know what the card should mean, and there could be a simple common-sense fix to correct the wording instead of just banning the entire card.
is it OFFICIAL BAN list?
@@bartekkubiak5593 For the Eternal format? Yes.
Where you can play this format?
@@anakin27ng There are leagues in San Antonio, TX and Macomb, Illinois that hold in-person Eternal format events. There are likely others, but those I know about for sure. Online, my Discord regularly runs Eternal format tournaments via PVP-Tabletop or Untap.in.
So glad the coinflip manipulation cards are off the banlist. Increasing the odds of coinflip attacks enables so many really cool strategies that would otherwise be too unreliable to see play.
thought i was going crazy hearing the explanation for walrein twice lol
Loving this, I'm having so much fun with this format :) Also, Alakazam Star mentioned!!
Honestly one of the most similar deck lists Ive seen to the one I had build, I like it. I think I only dropped 2 researchs and went 4.4.3 on energies and then put 3-3 line of magneton by getting rid of the Palpad and 1 Pikachu ex. Oh I also dropped one night stretcher and added a switch, besides that its pretty much the same list
1st match you forgot to take your 2nd magneton prize you should’ve won after knocking out pikachu n i think centiskortch has to be added
noticed that too, never took the prize
Thoughts on pikachu over cornerstone?
that ogerpon alone is almost auto win vs charizard. tbh i like it better. but i understand the pikachu gimmic. supr good
já tenho um deck de dragapult e certamente terei um de hydreigon também
