Workout Routine: 1. Incline Push-Ups (3 Sets of 8-12 Reps): - Stand and place your hands on a sturdy surface like a wall, countertop, or couch. - Perform push-ups in this inclined position to build strength. - Focus on controlled movements. 2. Slow Negatives (3 Sets of 3-5 Reps): - Start in the top push-up position. - Slowly lower yourself all the way down, taking 3-10 seconds. - Reset to the top and repeat. 3. Push-Up Holds (3 Sets of Max Time): - Lower yourself to the bottom of a push-up position. - Hold as long as possible, keeping your core tight. - Rest and repeat. --------------------------------------------------------- ***Bonus Progression Tip 👇🏽 Once you can do 5 push-ups in a row: 1. Start your workout with 5 full push-ups. 2. Rest for 1 minute, then do as many more push-ups as you can. Repeat this pattern until you can only do one push-up. 3. Then, finish with the earlier exercises (incline push-ups, negatives, and holds) to build endurance and strength. Stay consistent, and you’ll get stronger each week! 💪🏽 Much More on the way! You can round your upper back for leverage. You’re lower back isn’t as resilient. People often get injured hopping into that heavy weight rounding their lower
@@doncheadle5543 the best leverage you can possibly have is bracing your core properly and engaging your lats. I agree the lower back rounding is for sure the most dangerous part of it but the upper back rounding is still risky as well. If you brace core and lats properly won't need the other part at all. Just takes one wrong move as fatigue starts to set in and the upper back rounding turns into lower back rounding as well. Love the feedback and perspective!
@ you brace and engage your core while rounding your upper back as well. If bracing your core and engaging your lats can keep your back perfectly straight under heavy loads then lower back rounding wouldn’t be an issue when rounding the upper. A lot of the greatest dead lifters round the upper back
@@doncheadle5543 alot of the greats dont round it at the top as well. The one thing they all do at the elite level is brace the core and engage the lats. If its working for you and you are staying healthy keep at it for sure! Nothing wrong wit that at all keep making gain brother!
Your back angle needs to be flatter in the starting position the bar is travelling forward and around your knees
Thanks for your feedback! A flatter back position is more typical of an RDL (Romanian Deadlift), which is primarily focused on working the hamstrings and glutes. The standard deadlift targets those muscles as well, along with the quads, lower back, lats, traps, rear delts, and more. The bar path around your knees depends on the timing of when you begin to bend at the knees versus sitting back with your hips. This can vary from person to person based on factors like limb length, torso proportions, and femur length.
Most efficient bar path for deadlifting is a straight line. Pause the video when you say "chest up" and if you maintain that that is a good starting position then we simply agree to disagree.
I believe if you get ur hips and little higher at the bottom starting position it will fix a lot of issues with your deadift.
@@FreshTopEnd I actually agree with this. The ideal bar path for all the compound lifts is straight-line except bench press at the end of the movement slight curve for some. The main purpose for this demonstration was emphasizing not rounding the back because that is one of the most common mistake that destroy so many backs. How a person moves their hips from that starting position while decide how straight the bar actually moves.
@@FreshTopEnd The higher the hips are when starting the deadlift, the more the hamstrings will be engaged. Conversely, the lower the hips are, the more the quads will also be used. Some of this is based on personal preference, body type, and frame. For instance, a person pulling at 6'3" will have a slightly different setup compared to someone shorter with a different frame. Similarly, in squats, torso and femur length can affect optimal squat form to maximize effectiveness for each individual. I love the conversation. Our takes on this matter are not too far apart anyway and there will always be differences of opinions no matter how something is done. Most important part is the safety and this video helps beginners have a strong foundation to build on top of. Many other tips come to mind but in a 1 minute short you can only do but so much lol but these are the main 3 I see the most often.

How should your rib cage be? I hear some people say tuck the rib cage and tighten your core. I feel so unstable maybe my rib cage is too far up.
@@JoshuaDobbs-qo6hr yes that's correct you want to brace your core. Put your hands on your stomach and when you brace properly it should push your hands away from your body. Once you find that sweet spot that pushes them away squat using that same technique and it will give you a much stronger foundation to squat from. Which also means more power to your lift as well! You want to brace in this way for all of your lifts. Try it and see if that helps!

Nope, the first one is not true. Tension under stretch is most important for muscle growth and a guillotine press give a better chest stretch than a regular bench press. If there is no uncomfort with a guillotine press it is actually better for chest growth.
@@riamu343 The guillotine press primarily targets the upper chest. It’s not a standard form of bench press that most people are familiar with or commonly use. Additionally, this style of bench press puts you at a higher risk for shoulder injuries compared to a more conventional, tucked-shoulder position. When performing the guillotine press, it’s essential to control the weight with smooth, steady movements and use a much lighter weight than you typically would. While there’s nothing wrong with doing it, and some people achieve great results, it carries a higher risk and should be done in a very controlled manner. In many cases, the majority would achieve similar results more safely by performing an incline bench press with their elbows tucked. Thanks for your feedback!
@@NU-BirthFitness Normal bench should obviously also be performed in a controlled manner and environment... guillotine and incline give better results in upper chest and pretty similar results in the rest of the chest, I just mentioned it because it can be more effective than normal bench IF it feels good and not risky for the given individual
@ yes it definitely should be but the guillotine press is a lot less forgiving. I'd rather give advice that helps majority learn to do things in the best way. I have seen many people do that exercise the wrong way and hurt themselves. It's just like you said it feels fine when a person does it then nothing wrong with it at all. For overall chest development flat bench is better. For overall upper chest development the guillotine is better but it has higher risk on shoulders without a doubt. Each person has do what's working for them. If it's working for you keep making those gains brother! Thanks for your feedback! Much more on the way 💪🏽
@NU-BirthFitness For overall chest development incline bench is actually better.. sorry for the "☝️🤓" on my side but a newer study or review found that on incline the mid and lower pecs are about equally targeted while the upper is worked more. So if I'd promote any barbell bench than probably incline.. incline dumbbell obviously has a greater stretch. Also most people struggle to develop a good full upper chest so targeting there might be useful. For safety and stability reasons any chest press machine that is well made is better than all of the above so that is what I'd promote first. Thanks for the responses.
@@riamu343 Thank you so much for your feedback! I’m always open to healthy conversation, and I know others can benefit from learning through these discussions. To clarify, the original conversation began when I mentioned in the video not to flare the elbows out, as this helps reduce shoulder strain and provides a stronger base to push from. Your comment about the guillotine press as an exercise with flared elbows that can work effectively was a great point to bring up. My response aimed to highlight that while the guillotine press can indeed be effective, it does come with a higher risk of shoulder injury, especially if performed with incorrect technique or excessive weight. The flat bench press, on the other hand, is often a safer and more versatile choice for overall chest development in comparison to the guillotine press. For anyone aiming for complete chest development-or any muscle group, for that matter-it’s essential to incorporate a variety of exercises that target different angles and areas of the muscle in the same workout. Focusing on just one exercise or area can limit overall growth and balance. I highly recommend including dumbbells, as they play a crucial role in any routine by improving stabilizer strength, addressing muscle imbalances, and enhancing tendon health with the deeper stretch achieved on the descent. Incorporating both barbell and dumbbell variations ensures a well-rounded approach to building muscle effectively. Machines can also be highly effective for muscle growth and provide a safer, more controlled environment, which can be beneficial, especially for beginners. However, it’s worth noting that because machines typically follow a fixed path of movement, they may not engage stabilizer muscles as effectively as free weights. Without incorporating single-arm or single-leg movements, relying solely on machines can potentially lead to muscle imbalances. Additionally, strength gained on machines often translates less to real-life situations outside the gym compared to the functional strength developed through free weights, which require more stabilization and coordination. This is partly why people can often lift significantly heavier weights on machines than with free weights. This video specifically focused on technique for the flat bench press rather than comparing different exercises. Each exercise, whether it’s the flat bench press, guillotine press, or incline press, has its unique form requirements to maximize effectiveness and minimize injury risk. For beginners especially, a balanced chest workout should include flat bench, incline, fly movements, and dumbbells for the best results. Thanks again for the feedback! I really appreciate the conversation and your perspective.
