Even the Penguin’s foot was foreshadowing, as Oedipus means “swollen feet”.
I wonder if they will incorporate Penguins *absurd luck* in his character in the comics now? Homeboy was rolling all kinds of critical successes! I mean, hot damn my boy's guardian angel was working overtime. lol
Or how he turned into John Wick at the theater. Like c'mon!
Not having Batman makes no sense
I don't know, Batman is such a presence it might have been distracting to even have him show up. I mean, I saw grown men, cry during the premiere and all Batman was doing... was just walkin'. I'm clearly _gilding the lily_ a bit here but you get the gist.
Not having Batman is the best thing that could have happen to this show. There is really nothing to learn about Batman anymore.
The show is garbage. A travesty and insult to Tolkien. Moreover even without comparing it to JRRT its badly written, badly acted and full woke propaganda. Only leftists would watch it
Especially because Oz literally had a run in with Batman in the movie. You would think Batman would be on Oz’s radar
This was the first marvel product I haven’t watched and only because before the show started the actors told me this isn’t for me and wasn’t made for me so hopefully they cancel the show so I don’t have to do unnecessary HW for a movie or another show like wasn’t marvel trying to correct this shit and the first product after Deadpool is a show made for less then 2% of the fans
Regarding Marvel Television, they brought the Marvel Television moniker back to explicitly decouple it as required viewing from the movies, which are Marvel Studios. That happened after Echo, so I think you're correct that "Spotlight" is now dead. Essentially they've gone back to what they did with Agents of Shield. They expand the universe, and are in canon with the movies, but are not required viewing. I think this is a much approach to be honest.
this relationship is lore breaking and an embarrassment to Tolkien’s world
Sophia didn’t kill Evie because of Evie’s loyalty to her girls. She set everything up so her girls would not have to pay for her choices. Sophia even says something along the lines of “You have their back” and Evie says “and they have mine.” Just like with Mulroney, Sophia respects loyalty. She’s leaves right after that. It’s not a mystery.
I skipped entire chunks of this it was so bad. I just watched sauron and galadriel scenes. The pretend hobbits and not-gandalf i know nothing about. Absolute back breaking cringe.
It’s just too many plotlines. Which is a damn shame since I actually like most of the plotlines on their own (like Numenor and harfoods), but they just don’t tie in any way to the main story. I wish they would’ve focused on Sauron corrupting one race per season. Make the first season about him corrupting the elves and the whole forging of the rings plot (and the dwarves since their plotline ties neatly into the forging of the rings). Then focus the next season on Numenor, Sauron corrupting their belief in the Valar, and end that season with Elendil sailing away with his men. Then finally in the third season combine those two stories, the destruction of Numenor and the War of the Last Alliance at the mount Doom. The harfoods and Gandalf, imho, should have been their own miniseries or something. Tell us the story of the wizards, how all five of them came with the same mission, and in the end only two of them continued it. Show us Saruman the White in his prime. Show us how these literal angels figure out Middle Earth and how to live on it
Really appreciate Patrick sharing his parental insights on these episodes. It really colors Agatha's behavior differently to know we mere mortals might also do anything.
Piss off. I'm watching House of Usher, The Penguin, HotD, anything else.
I would unabashedly open the gates of hell upon innocent and the wicked alike for a single moment more with my child, so yeah, I get it.
why cant anyone answer who nicky's father is? 😂 what she'sa witch mama mary?
The lengths you guys are going to, to justify poor storytelling! How did she get pregnant? Where’s the part to see her decide she’s going to continue killing witches because she has nothing to live for? Where’s the music/ image cues to reinforce what’s she’s doing is abhorrent? If anything the cues signified a triumphant mood! I’m baffled you guys are suggesting this has a high water mark!
loved this show! way more than I thought I would

Decomposing TV
Hey Dave and Patrick. I love the show but please ditch the gambling ads (podcast - Australian market). They are an insidious scourge in this country and IMO no more defensible than tobacco advertising. I realise that you don’t actually choose what ads are played, but surely there are checkboxes for which categories to endorse? If not, you need a better advertising partner. Please give it some thought.
I’m here from the future to say they should’ve finished the series in this episode.
The writing on this ep must be a mind melt. Not only it has to stitch properly to previous episodes but directing it must be difficult as well.
divorced of fealty... visual medium, u catch the scraps.... was that the point?
All of this is great, but where the hell is Harry Styles?
Yup, that line is devastating and profound and beautiful.
This episode completely ruins the show. It’s just woke nonsense: the woman is morally perfect and everything she was thought to have done wrong was actually the men in her life framing her. It completely shits on the Dark Victory story where Sophia actually is the Hangman, in order to tell a story about a woman being perfect and all the men in her life being evil. Rather than making Carmine compelling, and giving him at least some redeeming traits, the show makes him out to be a murderous man who blames his own daughter for his crimes. Why? Because he’s an old white man. The show was so good until this episode. Why not just have Sophia be a psychopath? She was so compelling in the first 3 episodes - but no. Hollywood cannot ever make a female lead character bad in any way; it MUST be the Men in her life that that are evil. Utter shit show.
I’d love to see a review of episode 7 which was just magnificent
I agree, it’s my only critique with the show, if you can even call it that. More of a nitpick but yes if they could say “Batman” once or at least show a bat signal in the skyline or something that would add extra oomph
Hes not a main point to the story and batman is just at year 2 and very inexperienced. Hes not a threat to penguin yet
I know it's his show, but if it comes down to Sofia or Oz and she doesn't make it into the next Batman film or Season 2 of this show, I'm gonna have a small personal introverted riot.
will the combination of words, bat and man for 1 second give you a dopamine hit? in the movie there were a bunch of people with all kind of masks. The city is so fucked that nobody cares about one more lunatic.
Batman was mentioned in the opening of the first episode. He was helping first responders with the mass flooding and missing civilians caused by Riddler’s bombing. And on the news broadcast, they mention that crime and chaos have skyrocketed across the city. So I see it as Batman has his hands tied with much bigger crisis problems. He says in the beginning of the movie that Gotham is a big city and he can’t be everywhere, so the gang war involving Penguin probably hasn’t gotten on Bruce’s radar yet. But I am hoping that changes by the time the finale rolls around. Because this show is too consequential to be swept under the rug by the sequel when it comes out.
Batman hasn't been a threat to the mob at this point in his career, so they wouldn't be worried about him. Both times Batman went after Penguin in the film, he just questioned him and then left. He didn't try to stop him running the drops business, which Penguin was in charge of.
Don't know if it's been mentioned before but there's a villain in Batman's rogues gallery named Calendar Man who commits crimes based on holidays and significant dates. His real name is Julian Day. Probably not related to Sofias doctor Julian Rush but that's where my mind went at first.
It’s not odd because it’s just a mafia war. Civilians are really not getting killed. I would think Batman would stay out of the war
They reffer to him as the mad man
this is so true 😂
I feel that you’re just too focused on Batman in your analysis Yes it’s the Batman universe but you don’t need to have read a lot of comics to know that Batman’s world is extremely complex and rich! Eventually the Batman does let criminals kill each other as long as it doesn’t result into Gotham going nuts What’s happening so far in the show clearly hints towards a consolidation of the evil into one block, so if you’re Batman, you might as well wait and hit the tired winner of this fight
I really hope that during hes expansion in the tunnels. He fumbles over Batmans cave. Also i want Sophia to die end of season. This is THE PENGUIN not Sophiacrybaby show
"Sophiacrybaby show" as if she hasn't had the worst life ever and been completely traumatised and tortured because of her own family. She has more right to complain than Oz does
@@JackMorgan06right?? Penguin is basically poor boy want some monee and mommy’s love. Sofia is very complex and not just after money and power, she wants revenge
I’m willing to bet it’s intentional. I think it’s self aware and eventually Batman will appear towards the end of the series
I want Penguin to Fumble over Batmans Cave when hes expanding in the tunnels. Makes sense. Maybe Batman wont be there. but he will get hes hand on some tech and stuff
For story purposes they HAVE to include him eventually. He'll seem really incompetent if he just allows so many criminals to run rampant in Gotham. Batman is evolving as a character in this universe but he'd have to get back on patrol
The news mentioned that crime has gone up 40% since the flood. I imagine that he's very busy both as Batman and Bruce Wayne trying to help the city
Biggest clue that Sofia wasn’t The Hangman was that in The Batman, Carmine strangled Selina’s friend and tried to strangle her as well as implying that he strangled her mother.
I think you're being way too harsh on Sofia for telling her dad her suspicions. She is very much not *thinking* naively, she's not thinking at all. In the span of less than a week she's gone from being daddy's little princess to suspecting him of murdering her mother. She's clearly in denial, and when she tells him what she saw, it's not an accusation, it's a plea for him to get rid of this feeling inside of her, for him to tell her the perfect explanation that will clear up all doubt and fix their relationship and make everything fine again, because there MUST be an explanation. There must be, there must be, because this is her father. The love their family has for each other is one of the core pillars of Smolfia's worldview. He can't have done it. She just needs him to explain it to her and everything will be right again. Everything can go back to normal.
It's like he's Voldemort
Thats how I look at it.
My head canon is something from the Batman:Earth One graphic novel in which criminals believe if you say his name he appears from the shadows like a horror movie villian. But realistically it’s just so the show can be seperate from the movie in telling a Penguin story and not a Batman story.
They have said riddler
Episode 3 at the bar
There's a conspiracy that Warner Bros has disputed rights to Batman in television because the Adam West Batman show aired on ABC and the rights never got evened out, so Batman on television was never a reliable avenue.
What channel was Batman The Animated Series on?
Batman appeared in Titans a few years ago. That was HBO Max, so if they were able to use him in that it wouldn't be an issue for Penguin.
@@vshazamthat scene was not clear it was highly implied that it was batman but never showed his face
