    Jude Law was the MVP and I hope we see him again. Wim is selfish and still a brat in the end; he needed to lose something big, e.g. his dad, to learn his lesson. Out of the kids, only Neel and KB were tolerable.

    I was caregiver to my parents at the end of their lives. I actually faced the decision of whether or not to put my father on a ventilator. I had worked so hard to keep Covid from killing him and when he finally caught it after 3 years, I felt I had failed him. The ventilator question was asked. I knew it wasn't what he wanted. Making the choice not to try was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life and I was lucky that my brothers, who were on the other side of the country, supported and agreed with me. You're right to say it's easy to say you won't go against your loved one's wishes when you're not in the situation but don't know how you will react when actually faced with the decision. No one knows. No one can know.

      I think an ER does have the volume of patients. I was in the ER one evening and I was one of like 20 patients: bursting appendicitis sent straight to OR, 1 heart attack sent to cath lab, and me bronchitis. I wasn’t able to hear any other cases.

    I worked in the ER at UT hospital in knoxville TN. Its a level 1 trauma center and practically a circus. Knoxville is nowhere the size of Pittsburgh, but the patients in the waiting room and the endless problems in The Pitt on that show is extremely realistic. Read an article that this show was previewed to the medical staff at the hospital AGH that this show is based on and they all agreed that its on the nose!

    The first season about as perfect as you can get for a first season. Love the first season. Season 2. While beautiful, simply a visual feast, truly amazing. Sadly it felt like each act couldn't been its own season. Each story time jump, we are trying to learn what happen, only for another jump, made it all feel rush and disjointed.Character motives change within the same episode really bothers me. I will give them credit. They did not play it safe. They want all in and did a lot. Some worked while others didn't. Again. The visual , sound, voice acting, and music was some of the best of the best. I can't praise the visuals enough.

  • @persnicketypleasantpenelop7505

    ER was such a 90s show. Even the fact that ER had a score and a handful of celebrity guests was the highlight of ER. NBC had tons of restrictions because it was a television network which really forced the storyline to conform to Reganomic and Bush-like standards of the late 80s and 90s. ER was very cookie cutter, vanilla whitewashed because of the time it was set. The Pitt seems more realistic and focused on today's culture which is not as political because more can be done with a streamer vs network. The doctors represent more of what doctors see and experience today, post-Covid. Dr. Robinavitch...Dr Robby has more of Noah Wylie's family background which is similar in similarities...Russian and Jewish ancestry set in PA where 1880 German, Russian and Jewish immigrants settled. I am curious to see if The Pitt will focus on Dr. Robby's family legacy and backstory of his African American mentor Dr. Montgomery Adamson? I think these stories enrich the series where ER just never bothered to dive deep into any of the characters back stories that shaped the main characters. I enjoyed the plot points and the acting. The characters aren't glamorous or overly made up like in ER. You can tell in the 1990s Supermodels were instyle so big hair, make up and hair extensions were everywhere on sets, in The Pitt, the semi-glamorous actors even Dr. Langdon with his beautifully placed chin dimple looks natural and God given. There are beautiful people, but its meant to feature beautiful people who happen to be doctors in real time without a score telling you that something bad is happening.😅

    I watched the 1st two episodes, having Sickle-Cell I've experienced hospitals and ERs more than I'd like to and they captured it perfectly especially the Sickle-Cell patient, the nurse shortage, post-covid scenery, and Doctor/Nurse burnout. I really like the show, I've seen Scrubs, Greys Anatomy, Nurse Jackie, The Good Doctor, The Resident but never E.R. I'll have to check it out.

    I'm probably the only person to feels this way about Arcane, but, when I watch it, I feel great, it looks fantastic, unbelievable actually, but........as soon as the characters start talking, all that goes down hill for me. I think the story is weak, but because the visuals and performances are so good, I feel like I'm suppose to love the writing....but I don't. Spectacle. Arcane is a fantastic spectacle, with not much well written story to support it.

    Blame Stewy and Kendall. If Stewy had held his coalition with the Furnesses together, Kendall would not have had to worry about Shiv's vote. Kendall did not do his homework. When you are a woman, you go with the best offer (option). Tom gave Shiv an option, which is why she was in the car with him when he came down to the parking garage..

    About the Thanos/TOP case, he wasn't just "canceled", he was bullied and attacked by Korean netizens to a point where he tried to commit suicide by overdosing on anti-anxiety medication. He had to be rushed to the hospital and was in critical condition, but instead of realizing their mistakes, Korean netizens continued to attack him. It's been years and he is still being shunned by the Korean public. He even chose to stay out of promotions for the show to avoid attracting negative attention to it. South Korea is crazy when it comes to "cancel culture".

    45:30 I think the daughter is younger tho. There is the thing about the ill kid from the theme park, because I imagine she's close to the age of her daughter? I missed if they talked about how long she is in south korea but in the first episode they mention the daughter was 1 year old, I assume in the time she deserted. She would have to be in SK at least 15 years for Jun-hee to be the daughter.

    28:06 But that's season 1, no? We get the betrayal both when it's revealed that 001 from season 1 was the creator of the squid game and when it's revealed that Inho the lost older brother is actually the main maker of the games. If we had the same plot twist in season 2 I don't think it would be a good pay off. Here instead you can see how he is willingly tempting Gihun and watching how he reacts, if Gihun actually cracks and sways to his side. If you didn't know that's what he is doing I don't think it would be as interesting seeing their interactions and developing relationship.

    I'm not happy about the abrupt ending of the season. It feels like Netflix cut the season in half and wants to make us wait to make more money. It felt like a capitalist motive, but with that aside I really enjoyed this season so far and thought they did really well when it would have been such a challenging task to follow up season 1 which is so beloved and put on a high pedestal

    I like those links between the contestants and the real lives of the actors who are playing those roles. I also like the angle of contestants voting to continue the games or to end them, which is a great way to explain how debt racks up and how people often don't see a way out of a bad situation. It aligns nicely with my view that people who perceive their current situation as worse than before or worse than desired, will vote for/choose change, even if that change doesn't promise anything good, is nakedly evil, has been tried before and was unsuccessful, etc. And also, of course, why promising 'more of the same' is generally a terrible idea when people perceive their situation as having worsened.

    That’s the strongest part of Season 2 where the main character from season 1 is warning them and they just blow him off until… There’s something deeply human about that. I don’t buy it’s because human beings in Capitalist countries imagine themselves as billionaires. I just think it’s innate mistrust. Why should I believe a stranger? Insert cultural, racial, monetary, sex, gender, pronouns, height, weight, beauty….all the differences between us and there’s NO fukin way any of us will ever get on the same page before the comet, aliens, etc wipe us out. Thank you for the discussion.

    I really liked the second season and I do agree that the boat captain thing was telegraphed a mile away. I wonder if anyone else spent some times looking at the art on the wall where they sleep. Like it was established in season one, all the games are painted there on the walls for anyone to find. I gleened something with Roman Olympic Rings so I assume that will come in season 3. Also a bit surprised that Gi-Hun hadn't noticed that after being there the first time and looking at the walls to her clues as to what games comes next.

    • @alisyaaa______
      @alisyaaa______ 13 днів тому

      honestly think he was just hellbent on saving the players that he just assumed the games were exactly as he played them. and this was further enforced when the first game was actually the same. it's clever on the front man's part because it made gi hun confident that he could lead the games until the they reveal the second game to be completely differrent, which caused discourse among the players. he broke their already flimsy trust with this and made it harder for him to save them.
