Yearling For Sale- Rosie
Rosie is a 2022 Canadian Warmblood filly by Beau Balou.
She is out of a TB mare by One Way Love
Expected to finish 16.3 hh
Rosie is tall and elegant, with smooth, fluid gaits.
Her sire Beau Balou is a 2015 Hanoverian stallion who stands 17hh. He is currently showing in the 1.25m jumpers, and won his first time out at 1.35/1.40m at the Caledon National II this year.
In addition to being an impressive athlete, Beau Balou has a willing and friendly personality. He is currently being shown by a young amateur rider. He passes on his incredible temperament as well as his signature canter to all of his foals, and Rosie is no exception.
BeauBalou1
Rosie's dam is a thoroughbred mare who was my personal foxhunting mount for over 5 years.
Located in Ancaster, Ontario

    And most important. Get the mares tail wrap on early, get out of her stall, and leave her (moniter from afar) untill she has foaled out. She doesn't need anyone bringing her their nervousness.

    Hello, can you please tell me if its ok to ride on a mare after having her conceived ? I read its dangerous but I wanted your opinion . I don't own this horse, she belongs to someone else but I am concerned for her

    • @chiron.equine
      @chiron.equine Рік тому

      It's not dangerous. Lots of people will wait until after the pregnancy is confirmed to start riding again, because elevated body temperature *might* cause a potential pregnancy not to implant. Once pregnancy is confirmed, it's generally considered safe to keep up with the mare's previous workload until 7 or 8 months, or as long as the mare still seems happy and comfortable. If the mare isn't yours though, you're better off doing what the owner and the vet feel is best for her individual situation.

    Hello, I absolutely love this video. I am planning on breeding my mare next year and taking the time this year to research and decide if I will breed her. I have an amazing TB mare that has already had 3 babies by the time she was 6😂8 1/2 now. I bought her after her last baby as a project to develop a hunter horse and she has the best brain ever! Great mover for a TB but doesn't compete well against the warmbloods. I would love to breed her to a warmblood and would love your thoughts on which warmblood would be the best as my mare is longer backed and longer necked but great shoulders and hind end with 7/10 movement for the hunters but even better jump. Only thing is she is very feminine and 15.3 but has a big stride. This mare went from popping out 3 babies in the race world to doing the 3' hunters. Although she has a lot of ribbons in the top 10 she doesn't place well against the warmbloods. Anyways my angst in breeding her is that I'm looking at a lot of TB/warmblood crosses and although their quality is better then that of my mare i don't see them at top levels. Is it unethical to breed if your horse will not likely produce a top level horse? Sorry for the rant! It's been on my mind.

    • @chiron.equine
      @chiron.equine Рік тому

      I don't think it's inherently unethical to breed something that's not likely to go to the olympics, but the goal should always be that the foal will be an improvement on both of the parents. There are a lot of horses in the world, so there's no need to be breeding any mare that isn't already better than average in what you want to do. What's important to consider is whether you're producing a foal that other people will think is as great as you think it is. Even if the intention is to keep it forever, if something happened to you, the best way to protect our beloved animals is to breed and train them in a way that they'll be valuable to someone else as well. I can't comment on stallion choices, because I don't know your mare, but also because I know next to nothing about show hunters. Your best bet is to reach out to breeders who are producing the kinds of babies you want to produce, and ask if they'll take the time to give you their thoughts.

    I'm a newly started Equestrian and own 2 horses, one thing I know, Education is always pime when dealing with horses. I will be breeding my 2 mares just once because I want to keep the two babies and also allow my older mare to retire. I also am a huge fan of Matt and Jesse.

    • @chiron.equine
      @chiron.equine Рік тому

      Just keep in mind that even if the plan is to keep the babies for yourself, life is unpredictable. The best thing we can do to protect our animals is to make sure that we're breeding and training horses that other people would still want if we weren't able to keep them any more.

    What’s your thoughts on breeding an unregistered mare? I have been thinking about breeding mine but I’m not sure yet. I saw you already answered this question in a reply to someone else’s comment, but I couldn’t see you reply for some reason.

    • @chiron.equine
      @chiron.equine Рік тому

      That is a great big "it depends"! Mostly it boils down to why do you want to breed her, and do you know who her parents are. If you don't know her lines, it's a gamble choosing a stallion for her. It will also limit the sales potential on the foal in a lot of markets. This is a great topic if it's own video though. Thanks!

    i will be breeding my mare next year, she develped kissing spine as a 2 year old (backed too early), she had the operation which was sucessfull and the vet gave the go ahead to be able to ride her again but only light hacking/breeding, i bought her end of april this year and her previous owner said she was quite talented over a fence but she can no longer be jumped, she is a full TB (yellow passport) out of an american TB stallion called 'Beat All' and a french bred mare called 'Crepe De Chine' and she is half sister to a TB gelding called 'Doctor Kanaga' all of whome im told are great 'middle distance runners & National hunters' bloodlines. Im hoping i can do A.I to a dressage stallion called 'glamourdale' fingers crossed lol much love from the uk xxx

      Best of luck! Look in to some of the exercises available for building topline in hand/on the ground. Dr Hilary Clayton is a great place to start. Anything you can do to support her core and topline muscles before she's bred and during the first 2/3 of her pregnancy will help to protect her spine as the weight of the foal becomes more strenuous.

    I have a 14hh (tm 15+) I'm very attached to her despite not having her for too long. I am afraid about the prospect of breeding her but would really like to breed to keep. What size would you say sires maximum could be? Someone said no more than her height whereas others say aslong as she can take the weight 2+hh is okay? Some even say it doesn't particularly matter as she will only grow a foal to her size. So much confusion and I've been researching this for a few month now 🙈. My plans were to back first and some light schooling then breed her to mature off for a year or so? Thankyou x

    • @chiron.equine
      @chiron.equine Рік тому

      If it's her first foal, I'd be inclined to stay within 1 to 1.5 hands of her height, and a similar shape. It's true that a foal will only grow to the size the mare can safely accommodate in her uterus, but a mare with a slender pelvis and a foal with very broad shoulders can still have a difficult delivery. Large foals born to smaller mares will grow very rapidly once they're born to make up the difference. Make sure you have a good understanding of the pedigree on both sides and what kind of size and shape pops up in the generations before her.

    The problem with Matt buying a breed mare is Matt would want to keep all the foals. I also follow 'Friesian Horses', Yvonne, who does all the posting, has shown it is more then just breeding. She also socializes all the horses to be familiar with people, works with the horses & foals to learn there names, how the horses are judged-it goes on & on what needs to be done when you breed horses to sell. I appreciate you insight, thank you. Have to love Matt & Jesse, has helped during this time in the USA.

  • @berinlist

    When I first saw Matt's video I thought 'good looking Royal spoiled brat'. Then I watched all of his & Jesse's videos. What ever Matt has, he has worked as a model, since he graduated from high school and earned every penny. Matt was smart, saved his money, did not blow his money on going out partying, on drugs or buying flashy cars. Gives me hope for his generation. That being said, the problem with Matt getting a breeding mare, he and Jesse would want to keep all the foals! Matt does want to breed to pass on the good qualities of his stallions. I don't know if Matt has been very lucky with the horses he has bought, has a natural instinct or done a great deal of research, but he does have great horses, Matt appears to be very intelligent about his life choices.

    I love my mare and I have always thought about breeding from her. She is a TB and I wanted to breed with an Arabian, because my first horse was an Arabian. So I have alot of love for both breeds... But my instructor recommend against it was likely to exacerbate the unfavourable traits in her hind end. I've also asked many arabian breeders and they think she would throw lovley arabian cross type. I've decided to go on the side of caution and not breed.

I love that you didn't knock him or try to be superior, and the information you shared was so excellent! I would ask you, besides striving to create the best example of the breed that you can, what do you think are acceptable reasons to breed?

    • @chiron.equine
      @chiron.equine Рік тому

      Thank you for your feedback! I think there are lots of great reasons to breed, I just want everyone to make the most educated decisions they can. Breeding is a gamble, but we can stack the odds by starting with the best quality of horses we have access to. I think sentimentality plays too much in to decisions to breed sometimes. I warn anyone who asks me that there is a very real possibility of losing a mare. If you are so sentimentally attached that you would regret losing her to a foaling complication, you need to not breed her or save up for an embryo transfer.
