One of my favorites!
Thanks for your comment. It is one of many people's favorites.
I’m a 22 y/o male, born and raised in Florida and I love this book and many of your others!
❤
I'm reading the book "Allapattah" right now - and love it. I can't put it down. Thank you, Patrick Smith for bringing such great people and times and lessons to life!!
Thanks for sharing that.
This recording of Florida Home is actually sung AND written by Janet Rucker, but we all sing harmony on it. I sing it sometimes at Rick Smith's A Land Remembered shows.
Oh and just because he lived here later. He could have lived close to that than most think in FL. My grate aunt lived in the old house untill 81 with no lights or indoor plumbing. And the old Turpin guy by us lived like that untill 85 in a logcabin he built before he went to ww2. There still or was so old Fl. Left untill the mid 80's.
I'm glad you discovered the book and it brought back fond memories of old Florida for you. Thanks for sharing that with us.
I am a 5th generation Floridian as well. I'm 24 years old and this book was given to me by my grandfather, WHO IS VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY much like Tobias in A Land Remembered. After reading this book, I feel like I've hit the lottery being born here and (for some reason) this brought me even closer to the Lord. I've lived in West Palm Beach for all my life, and this novel has touched my heart in so many ways. The best book I have ever read. It's sad that they didn't have us read this book in high school. I will try and read this book every summer like I read it the first time this past summer. I feel as if the characters in this book are my friends, and even though they are all gone, and fictional, they will always have a place in my heart. Thank you so much for your dad's work. A true writer and scholar. Nothing tops this book, I'll be handing this book down to future generations in my family! I LOVE MY HOME STATE AND ORANGE TREES!
What a wonderful comment. Thank you so much!
Thank you for those wonderful words. Although your school district didn't have you read the book, I'm glad you discovered it when you did. It truly is a book to read more than once.
I'm a 5th generation Floridian and finally read this book at 37 years old. Great book and very proud of my families heritage.
Thanks for letting me know and I'm glad you enjoyed the book.
My all time favorite book. Liked your talk.
Good buy Butch!
I love the video Rick made of this song! The performance here, from our CD Patchwork Rides Again, is sung by Janet Rucker, who wrote the song, with the rest of us singing harmony. I sing it when I perform at one of Rick's fabulous A Land Remembered multimedia tours--coming this fall to a Florida town near you!
Thank you for posting this great performance. I love it.
I am glad you liked it!
Beautiful - makes me want to come back home to Florida. Thank you. Ed
