Janette Monear, President and CEO of The Texas Trees Foundations, is dedicated to creating livable and resilient communities using trees, green infrastructure, and sustainable design. As a pioneer in urban forestry. “Economic development in the absence of environmental integrity is not sustainable” is her mantra. Connecting people to the land and creating that sense of place where all people thrive is her mission.
In this talk, Jeanette shared broad concepts applicable to both large cities and small towns as they consider how greenways - and trees - can be used to measurably improve livability of our communities. The concepts came to life with several civic projects, both implemented and planned, in and around Dallas, TX.
