Cold Rums Race 1 aboard Sea Maiden
It was an absolute joy to get back onto a smaller boat!. Thank you so much to Sandra and Carolyn Sherman for giving me the opportunity to get out there. I got to trim for the first time in forever and learn some new things. Great day out on the water. Even more cool, I got to race on a Southwestern boat for the first time ever.

Beer Cans 2024 is done. We had a ball out there on the water! Team Palaemon finished seond on the day which left us with a 9-1 record to win overall this summer. I finally had the privilege of collaborating with Doris Torres on a video. I think the results speak for themselves. I hope to team up with her again in the furture. Big thank you to Rudy and Phil Hasl for putting this amazing program ...

By far the most exciting race this summer. Robert Capita and the crew on Maasai got ahead of us at the first mark and made us earn every inch all the way down the course. Beautiful conditions and another win for team Palaemon. Race committee put on a flawless regatta again. Everyone is looking forwrd to race 10 to end the series.

Great conditions and #Comic-Con prep going on downtown. Really was a showcase day for why we live here. Happy to report that there were no mechanical issues this week and we got another win. Fantastic day out on the water.

This summer has been marked by relatively mild conditions. I missed a few races due to work but the rest of the crew stuck it out and have put down excellent performances so far. This week's race saw us trailing our main competitor, Staghound, for most of the evening. We were able to pull it out at the very last minute or so to get the win.

What a difference a week makes. Much better conditions and a very close finish. I had to leave out a bunch of tacks and gybes. I am probably going to make another video of just the grinding up wind. Turns out it is hard to make a sailing video when you don't finish the race LOL! Light winds and June gloom combined with a flooding tide to slow things down. So slow that no one in class 1 finished and I feel safe in saying that we weren't the only class to take a hit in race 3. Took me a long time to make this video since there wasn't a finish to record, no podium pics, and most of the camera...

The weather is starting to cooperate and the crew work is getting better every week. Still a little on the cool side but I think that is about to change soon. Yes very happy with the boat. Fuel efficiency is great and has proven very reliable and sea worthy. We had another child so I'm thinking of getting a bigger boat but I cant say anything bad about the R-21 classic. Well built and really fun.
These are really good videos - your soundtrack is well placed with your edits and the music is new and refreshing (at least to me). Great sail and boat handling too.

How does your Nissan handle towing the R21?
It was very fast to pump the oil with a thicker tube which we hose clamped to the top of the dip stick tube. Warm motor helps too

Just a comment on your videos, good to see you are capturing racing but it is much better to hear onboard commentary rather than music overlay. It was an exciting race and would be good to hear what was happening onboard rather than music which I had to mute
Thanks Frank! I agree but when I started making these videos I learned that sailors sometimes say some... odd things. Indeed many skippers I have filmed flat do not want the sound on. That's why I put music over everything. I think I may try to selectively put some more audio in. I actually really like the sounds the boats make. I'd like to make a video just of maneuvers and the burps and groans the boat makes doing them.
Can the R21 handle Haulover Inlet? im from the east coast.
I have watched a bunch of boats vs. Haulover and I'd say it could be done but there would definitely be a problem making headway if the current was against you. You would have to time it just right for sure.
@@buoy26productions41 that's a very confident answer. I've seen the videos too. Haulover ain't no joke. But I do agree on the timing thing. Against the current would be very slow going.
Good grief! Get yourself a dock or a berth, or a mooring buoy. I leave my 21 in the water year round because I use it a lot but if I had to go through all that monkey motion I'd probably get rid of it.

Is it yanmar diesel? How many hours? What is your cruise speed? I am looking at 21c . What the difference between c and EC ? Thank you
Mine is an R21c with a Yanmar 3YM30 diesel engine. The difference is that the Classic or "C" models have more stern deck space whereas the EC or "Extended Cabin" models have a bigger cabin and less deck space in the stern. The EC's are usually newer models and have more comfortable seats, a stove, and usually a head with a tank rather than a prota-potty for a toilet. You should know, both versions are slow boats (top speed 8-10 mph) but they are highly fuel efficient.
