    Still stinging from not being invited to my niece's daughter's destination wedding a few weeks ago. I am the only living Aunt on my niece's dad's side - my older brother, parent's, etc., passed away a number of years ago. Not that we would have traveled several hours away to the wedding but the fact that we we were ignored is hurtful. Especially when my nieces profess how much they love me and when you see the photos splashed all over social media; and the group photo shows over 100 people at the wedding ...little kids included. I'm in my late 60's and this is something I won't forget anytime soon! Forgive? Of course. Forget? No way! When people show you who they are, believe them ...

    Hi, didn't know exactly what RSVP as in the french definition but I knew it had to do with responding 😊very helpful video. My daughter is getting married mid September and we just mailed most of the invites however without RSVPs to be mailed back. Instead, they have an online site for that and it includes other information such as venue directions, registry and so on. At first, she didn't want to do traditional invites but i explained to her, older guests(let's say 50+)tend to be more traditional and want that mailed invited, I tend to be traditional and yes, I'm over 50+😊. I wanted to have something to place with my family keepsakes.

    I have a question. My nephew is getting married in north carolina mountains next year and he and his fiance are asking for $300.00 gifts per couple so that others can give a gift for them for their honeymoon. I told him I will make that decision Not you. HE said he needed to know how much WE intend to give them, when we make the 11 hour drive up there from Tampa Fl. I told him since its going to cost us rather alot of money for gas, a place to stay, you are NOT Going to get 300.00 from us, for your Honeymoon to Europe. THE invitations were not by mail but by email to save them stamps. They told this on their invitation that they wanted this amount so they know how to budget for their honeymoon in ITaly and France. How would you both deal with it. She is a traveling pediactric nurse, he is still in college living in a nice apart they both pay for.. how nervy are these two kids in their 20's to ask for everyone to give them a set amount. I also told him that he forgot that when he was 12 years old my husband and i worked very hard to get him his first camera, he only had it for 3 weeks after i paid $350.00 for it, i had to work all week to pay for it, and then after he got bored with it, his mother sold it for $500.00 and profited from this. I told him your money is in the camera, because you are so rude and tacky to ask us for that kind of money ask your mom where is the $350.00 camera that you sold for $500? I told him i already gave you your gift i AM NOT GIVING YOU ANY GIFT. How would you handle this??

      Yikes!!! Well, it’s a bit presumptuous (and frankly, rude) for anyone to “expect” cash from their wedding guests. While it’s always nice to receive cash as a wedding gift, it should never be expected. I’m sorry to hear you’re being out in such an awkward position. Good luck navigating all of that!

    Hey, I’m Making and sending out my own invitations and RSVPs and I’m confused as to how I would get my RSVPs back. Do I also put in the invitation envelope an additional, small “mail back” envelope with a stamp since I’m making them myself?

    • @chastityjensen5056
      @chastityjensen5056 3 роки тому

      My question too! And if we add it all in one envelope won’t that back up the mailing cost?

    • @Hitchedacademy
      @Hitchedacademy 3 роки тому

      Yes Nika! Within the main envelope you would have a small RSVP card with a matching envelope for the RSVP card to go in. The envelope for the RSVP card would be printed with your address on it (so that the post office delivers it to you) and you would stamp that envelope so that your guests aren't having to dig for a stamp!

    • @Hitchedacademy
      @Hitchedacademy 3 роки тому

      Chastity - Yes, the cost for mailing a wedding invitation is usually higher than just a regular piece of mail because of the weight. The weight of the RSVP card and envelope are a part of what contributes to the postage cost.

      somy krishnan That’s great that you’re able to move dates without a fine!! I know it’s so hard emotionally... I feel like I have this same convo with my clients who are affected, but think how wonderful it will be to actually celebrate when this is all over!

    • @Hitchedacademy
      @Hitchedacademy 4 роки тому

      HeidiG curran I’m so sorry you are having to go through this, but I think you’ve made a great decision in light of the current circumstances. I do think it’s important to collect a separate RSVP for the wedding based on the new date, since some guests availability may change with the change of date. To avoid the cost of a new invitation and reply card, you could simply direct guests to your wedding website for details and to RSVP. If you’re sending a change of date card anyway, that language could simply be added to the card so guests know to go to your website for more information and to RSVP. I don’t normally like taking RSVPs online (most of the weddings we plan are fairly formal, so the occasion calls for a more formal invitation process), but these are unique times, so I’m definitely not opposed to going that route!

      I agree I also would invite children. I have lots of nieces and nephews(plus my own kids) and I'd want them to celebrate my big with me. It is ultimately the parent(s) responsibility to watch their children at the wedding and reception.

      No the place I’m having it is to risky and financially I can’t afford damage I have 3 kids an I know wedding for kids is not fun, they have nothing to do at a sit down an need to run an play especially ages, there is an open bar and with covid now it’s just to risky we’re on a limit an I am just so shocked people are mad at the no kids! I always thought if you go out on a date night you can come to a wedding without your children, that being said there is some children included immediate family that would not be able to attend without a sitter it’s way to far of a drive for some of our family, but I know way to many people with lots of kids an I know I have to step in here an say no I am just shocked how many are upset about this
