And here is the last of the amateur difficulty songs! SWiTCH vs Evil-Dog Round 1 is what I can tell a collaboration between the two artists, to which I believe there were 3 songs made for 3 rounds. I am quite curious as to the context behind the making of these songs, was there a competition between the 2 artists? If so, who won? And who did each part? Oh, by the way, absolutely love the song; one of my favourite songs in this game. (Also, this song marked the creation of 2 traditions of the SCGMD series going forward: the final song playable would also be the title screen song, and it would be mandatory that a SWiTCH vs Evil-Dog song would be included in each SCGMD game. Pretty cool!) Now, about the gameplay itself. Even for an amateur song, SWiTCH vs Evil-Dog Round 1 can be pretty tricky. For one, it’s one of the longer songs in this game, actually using near the whole song instead of just a smaller part of one. There are a lot of parts in the song that will require you to quickly press different arrow notes one right after another. At this point, it goes without saying that it definitely helps to have a sense of what the song sounds like and what the gameplay is. A lot of the solo parts are cut sections from note patterns in the pro version. Perfecting this song isn’t easy, but it’s definitely possible with lots of practice.

This song’s title is… well, interesting. Thinking about it, Evil-Dog seemed to have a knack for naming some of their songs this way (one of the song titles made by Evil-Dog in SCGMD3 is literally just a swear word). Still, I like how it sounds. As for the gameplay itself, it’s quite short. In fact, it’s the shortest song in SCGMD2, just slightly shorter than Big Blue. As a result, the amateur version isn’t actually that difficult. Nothing’s really to note in terms of difficulty or needed practice, the only trick to perfect this song is to perfect this song. Keep calm and carry on, you’ll need that in the pro version.

Another rock version of a classic melody! Sounds great! Gameplay: Legend of Zelda Rockin' (Amateur) has okay difficulty. If you are planning on playing all of the amateur songs first before you move onto the pro songs, this will be the first song that is rated "hard". It's not too much of a step up from the previous songs, since it really comes down to focus and memorizing what notes are coming. Be careful of 0:41 and 1:46 to not let go of the hold notes too early, as two of the same hold notes can make it slightly disorientating. 0:57 - 1:24 is a bit like a rest moment, which is quite easy to play in comparison to the other sections of the song. Everything else in comparison is no real cause for concern, as long as you have a general sense of how to play it. Just... don't expect this kind of easy difficulty in the pro version.

Good ol' Super Mario World Rock. A fun sounding song, which takes a spin on the original melody and puts a rock theme on it. I like it! Gameplay: Super Mario World Rock (Amateur) is for the most part, easy. Just be careful not to let go of the hold notes too early, as I tend to do when dealing with multiple hold notes at once (this becomes a major problem in My Heart Up Your A** in pro mode...). As for everything else, learn how this song goes and begin to really feel how the song plays. You might need a little practice in this song, but overall not too hard. At least in amateur, anyways.

Personally, one of my favourite songs in this game. Sounds cool! It's also the first song by Evil-Dog, which is an artist we will end up seeing some more throughout this game. Gameplay-wise, The Quest of Your Life is rather easy to perfect, although the up and down chords at 1:31 for example might be a bit uncomfortable at first, but it's overall an easy song to perfect.

Next song, which I really like how it sounds. For some reason when I was young I thought the notes in this song was tied to the lyrics, however it uses the notes from the guitar. Gameplay: Truth or Dare has nothing very noteworthy aside from the ending at 1:41, where the song can catch you off guard and cause you to choke. This part might need you to practice a little to get the pattern down. Be careful, but don't hesitate. The verse at 0:21 just requires understanding the note pattern. Other than that, it's a fairly easy song.

The second song of this game, and the first one rated "tough". I'm interested in the context of this song, since its title is "This Way (Demo)". Demo for what? Guess I won't know right now. Gameplay: This Way (Demo) is pretty simple, for the most part. Similar to Hollywise, it's best to know what's coming up so you have a better sense of what to do. Most of the song is pretty easy, with the exception of 0:40, where it can be a bit prone to overpressing and making a mistake. 0:48 will be fine as long as you memorize the pattern and know when it tapers off into the next part. The rest of the song is alright to deal with, however just be a bit careful at 1:19 as the main pattern changes slightly (I choked once at this part, oops).

Ah yes, Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 2. A game that I remember browsing on Kongregate, and one of the first rhythm games I tried to complete, even though I suck at rhythm games. And this is the first song of the game! Listening to this song once again, I've only recently realized how sad the lyrics to this song is, and the atmosphere it gave. Guess things change when you turn older. Now, about the gameplay. Hollywise is the first song of this game and is ironically the only song that is rated "easy" while every other song is rated "tough" or harder. It's true for the most part, since this song doesn't contain any parts that are worth noting of difficulty. It really comes down to knowing what notes are coming up, so go get that perfect award! (P.S, if I remember correctly, there was 1 or more amateur song that you could play (1 was definitely rated "easy" for sure) that seemed to be available only for some version of this game. Not sure why, and I can't seem to find any videos on them. Oh well I guess!)
