    Do NOT advise IEPs!!!!! I and my son are both autistic and IEPs screwed both of us!!!! It is the WORST thing that was done to us, in public school!!!! An IEP causes you to be singled out!!!!!

    • @AutismLifeWithZachAndMom
      @AutismLifeWithZachAndMom Місяць тому

      Hi there, I’m so sorry to hear that the IEP process was such a difficult experience for you and your son. That truly breaks my heart because these plans are supposed to help, not make things harder. Thank you for sharing your story-it’s so important to hear different perspectives. Please know I’m sending you and your son so much love and support. You’re not alone in this journey! Do you mind telling me a little more about what happened?

  • @clpasztor
    @clpasztor Місяць тому

    Yes! As a special education para educator, IEP’s are developed by trained professionals to help your child succeed! But also always follow your gut and ask questions. Any teacher or other certified staff will be happy to help you help your child. That’s what we all want :)

    • @xxLivinginTheLightxx
      @xxLivinginTheLightxx Місяць тому

      That's complete BS!!!!! IEPs caused me and my son BOTH to fail!!!!!!!

    • @xxLivinginTheLightxx
      @xxLivinginTheLightxx Місяць тому

      Screw you "teachers" and your BS IEPs!

    • @clpasztor
      @clpasztor Місяць тому

      @ I am so sorry to hear that, every school is different. That’s why I encourage you to follow your gut and ask questions.

    • @xxLivinginTheLightxx
      @xxLivinginTheLightxx Місяць тому

      @clpasztor when the parents are too uneducated to advocate and the teachers are berating special needs kids ... There is no such thing as go with your gut. If I hadn't had it happen to me, I wouldn't have snuck into my son's school only to find a special ed teacher talking to my son like garbage and putting her hands on him. Oh and that was more than one school. 2 different states. There are A LOT of "special ed" teachers than don't understand the raw basics of dealing with autistic children. It gets swept under the rug. I would've thrived better, if they had put me in advanced classes. Autistic people aren't stupid nor lack intelligence quotient, we just have extra synapses. We deal with and process things differently. To be put in a class with children who are mentally challenged is a horrible injustice!

    • @AutismLifeWithZachAndMom
      @AutismLifeWithZachAndMom Місяць тому

      I completely believe you, and it breaks my heart to hear about what you and your son have gone through. Sadly, it’s true that so many autistic kids face abuse or mistreatment in schools, and it’s absolutely unacceptable. Those responsible should absolutely be held accountable, and I fully agree that it often gets swept under the rug. What you said about the lack of understanding from some special education teachers is so true-autistic children are not unintelligent; they simply process and learn differently. It’s such an injustice when they’re treated unfairly or placed in environments that don’t allow them to thrive. I’ve been in a similar situation. When my son was in a school in Florida, I had concerns about how he was being treated, especially when one staff member’s presence seemed to trigger his behavior. They wouldn’t even let me see his classroom, and when I tried to advocate for him, I was met with attitudes instead of support. I ended up pulling him out of that school and sending him to Jamaica for private schooling until I could find a better option. Eventually, we moved to a new state, and I cannot tell you the difference it made. The teachers, staff, and even bus drivers showed him so much love and respect-it was truly a blessing. While not every school is the same, I do believe that where you are and the people involved make a huge difference. And as the other commenter mentioned, sometimes following your gut as a parent is the best thing you can do. Your instincts and advocacy for your child can truly change their life. Thank you for sharing your story-it’s so powerful and important.
