If there's going to be ONE you let slide by, this is a great one to choose. After all, the Cayman is basically a Miata with power! They are very similar in driving enjoyment in my opinion (ps, I have a miata for trackdays)

We use two mics, one inside and one outside near the exhaust, we then blend the audio tracks together to give a balance between raw engine sound and interior noises like clink of the gated shifter.

That would be sad if true, but it's far more likely that manufacturers will stop selling NEW icu engine vehicles a lot sooner than they are banned altogether. Enthusiast/collectors need not fear, you will be able to drive your car for a long time to come!

How does it have any less soul than a gas powered version?

Some electric motors rev really high, like 20k RPMs. Those don't really need a transmission. These motors rev to around 7k rpm, which means that having a transmission is indeed beneficial. You can really scoot around town in 2nd gear but it maxes out around 70mph. In 3rd, 4th, and 5th you can get yourself into all the trouble you might want.
