Why Every Guitarist Should Build a Cigar Box Guitar
How about Kolton Moore and the Clever Few's "Maybe I'll Just Let You Down", specifically their Motel Session video? I cannot figure that harmonica tune out for anything. Thanks for this video!
Is it good for bedroom vol
It is. I even gig with it. It will keep up with a drummer with a light touch.
Excellence...
Why does this make me wanna visit Hawaii?
Hear that lonesome whipper will he sounds too blue to fly
Don Helms, formerly of Hank William's band, played steel guitar on this Patsy Cline recording of "Walking After Midnight". The other side of the Decca 45 "A Poor Man's Roses" features some great rockabilly-ish electric guitar by Grady Martin. One of the greatest country 45s ever.
Which brand is that cromatic? It sounds good
It’s a valveless Easttop Forerunner 2.0. Great entry level chromatic harp.
People keep asking me to try these, and honestly, I think I'd feel the same way you do about them.
Not being able to effectively palm block while using the levers is so annoying that it more or less ruins any benefits for me. I prefer either straight lap steel or PSG. I don’t judge anyone playing slide with levers, but I don’t enjoy it.
@@AgressiveElevatorMusic I play a b-bender Tele, and when folks talk about these I think of how much less tight my playing would sound with them (not that it's particularly tight to begin with)
Nice playing, never heard this song ,now I gotta look it up 😊
Nice demo. In a loud bar or room with a drummer,/ electric guitar/bass I found that the HOG couldn't keep up. It is great with an acoustic guitar.
I spent on my PSG all the time. I just wish I could do behind the bar bends, too
You look young and strong, just remove the 2 front legs and toss it over your shoulder and your good to go. Really not much more trouble than a lap steel with screw on legs. Nobody said it had to be packed up into a heavy case every time you move it. The case can weigh as much as the guitar!
For people like me with lap steel AND pedal steel, yes I always prefer psg, it's just soo much more versatile. AND, I have a way to avoid all the set-up time, just remove the 2 front legs, now it can lay flat or upside down. Even fits in my little 43 year old jeep that way. Really no more trouble than a keyboard and it's stand. Toss a couple little pieces of rubber in your gig bag to level it, (there's always ONE leg wobbling!), and you don't have to re-adjust legs to sit flat.
Can you please do a detailed tutorial?
I’ll certainly consider it! The bends on this lick are what put it into the intermediate range.
That’s so cool
I like Certano better
Are you a ginger root fan?
I built my own benders and I’m confident that they perform as well as anything else on the market. I have a beautiful double neck pedal steel with every bell and whistle you could hope for BUT the setup takes forever. It’s a horribly clunky instrument and it takes at least 15 minutes to setup and 15 minutes to tear down everywhere I go. Lap steel is just as portable as an electric guitar and I can plug into my existing electric guitar rig. I primarily play electric guitar, but now I can easily whip out the lap steel for a couple of songs. Most people won’t notice that you don’t have the versatility of a full pedal steel.
For sure! I’ve actually switched to playing E13th like Don helms and ditched the benders as of this summer. I got sick of lugging the dumb steel to every Legion and VFW in the tristate area. Haha
So cool 😎
Just bought one. Waiting for delivery.. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
I have one in red and one in black sparkle! At least 100 gigs on each.
nice pignose in background ....i lov mine....
Man that is so badass
Just doing my best over here! Lap steel is a humbling instrument.
awesome
Hell yea bud!
Man that's badass. You should learn "The Lost Highway" and post it please!
I play that and some other Hank Sr songs with my band! I’ll record it at some point.
@@AgressiveElevatorMusic I've always loved the sound of the lost highway steel part. That's awesome man.
Sounds great, Keep it up!

Glad to hear it!
Glad to hear it!
Is that a Superlux D112?
It is. I switched to a Hohner Harp Blaster about a year ago and like it way better. I still take the Superlux to gigs as a back up if the Hohner shits the bed.
@@AgressiveElevatorMusic thanks for letting me know, I heard it's not too terrible for the price.
❤
Subscription for lap steel! What tuning? What Roland amp in the background? :)
E13th. That’s a Roland JC-40!
Spongebob song
Technically, it’s western swing, not Hawaiian but I get where you’re coming from
@@AgressiveElevatorMusic Oh for sure, I grew up on this song and many others like it. As played though, didn't have the swing and sounded just like some of the SpongeBob transition songs.
More of those bass sounds!
😔
I love it!
K Rose❤❤❤❤❤
sadest musuc
Thank. You!
Yo can you do rolling stone by whiskey Myers?
We used to play that one in the band I’m in! It’s a C harp, if memory serves.
@@AgressiveElevatorMusic sick! need the tabs so I can play it. I can’t figure it out 😅😅
Beautiful ✔️
Has the nuance of a pedal steel-nice
That sounds awesome! Im just starting out on lapsteel, could you please tell me the tuning for the lapsteel in this video? Is it c6?
It’s E13th like what Don Helms played on the old Hank Williams records. E G# B C# E G# low to high. I order custom string sets from Stringjoy. I recommend open D for beginners. It’s super versatile and you can play rock to blues to country on it. When I gig, I take my Open D steel. Just my 2 cents, if you want that Hawaiian sound, then C6, A6, or E13th is right for you.
Yassssss
Sweet tone
Sponge bob
Nice warm tones and an interesting aesthetics.
Q: is it open tuning you use, like open g etc etc . I’d love one of those
It’s E13th. It’s like C6 but up to E. I also play open D on my Gretsch. I get my strings front Stringjoy and buy custom sets. There are tons of used lapsteels on Reverb for cheap. Careful with the vintage ones. Most of them are unplayable and falling apart. I recommend the Gretsch 5700 for beginners. $350 at Sweetwater.
I had one in 64, like new. Gave 50 bux for it. Traded it for an Alvarez 12 string retail 150. Worst trade in my life. So many guitars over the years and stupidly sold or traded for way too little! 😢
