    I rode rubber grip for about 3 ish maybe 4 months it wasn’t the worst but it’s just a gimmick and it sucks when it gets wet or dirty but it does work alright

    Why don't skate shoes have more wear protection in the front side areas so the grip tape doesn't eat them as fast? I wouldn't skate in my trail running shoes, but those have a thin "sole" reaching up to protect against sharp rock. It's not street fashion, but they look ok and they're comfy.

    I've used rubber grip tape on I think at least 8 decks now and I disagree with most of the criticisms from this video. The one thing I would agree with this video on is that rubber grip tape is not as easy to apply to a deck as sandpaper grip. But, in my opinion, that is a minor inconvenience and something that I've gotten better at with time. Using a sharp razor blade (not a knife - I don't know if that was a joke or not) and following the instructions does the trick. It is easy to avoid the grip from peeling on the edges IF you follow the instructions and inset the grip a quarter inch; I can tell from the video that that rule was not followed which explains why the grip was peeling. I have not found that rubber grip tape is dangerously slippery when wet, but yes, like sandpaper grip, it does get slippery when wet. (I live in a drier climate but still see plenty of rain and snow and do have to deal with things like walking through wet grass and stepping in puddles like most skaters.) And yes rubber grip does get dusty but that was also a problem with sandpaper; perhaps it get more dusty but it is also easier to clean (just use a damp rag, you can't do that with sandpaper). Finally, rubber griptape, in my experience, is not twice as expensive as sandpaper. It retails from the manufacturer, a company called DKL (by all means don't buy from "Voldemort"), for $12 a sheet and sometimes they have sales which brings in down to $9 or $10. Maybe I'm out of touch, but isn't sandpaper usually about $10 a sheet? That's my 2 cents.

      You kinda just explained why its not as good as traditional griptape

  • @Saint_Bingus
    @Saint_Bingus 16 годин тому

    I actually was maining rubber grip tape for about two years. It definitely halted my progress on a lot of tricks. when the grip tape wore down it became more prone to collecting dust and it became infinitely more slippery. I remembered sessions where I would have to get a wet rag and rub the group tape every 20 minutes. It is a good investment if you want to save on shoes, but the quality of your skateboarding is gonna be really tedious and annoying.

      It's not worth it, I gave it a good chance for a couple years. It's only grippy for a few sessions and I had some really bad falls from my foot slipping. Buying used but unskated shoes off poshmark/ebay is a good way to save money on shoes plus they're already broken in

    for anyone who likes the dragon formula urethane, but wants just a tiny bit less grip and more speed (on smooth skatepark concrete), i'd definitely recommend the bones x97 wheels in case it gives anyone out there a better riding experience. i've become a huge fan over the past year (although i like dragons a lot too...i think their perfect environment is a little on the rougher side though)

    I have a set. I’ve always preferred softer wheels but the higher traction of such wheels is limiting. A lot of skaters just like what they like… the feedback from the noise, vibrations etc… they ain’t gonna change. But physics says hardest wheels aren’t always bestest. Nanocubics They’re good for slappy too. I’d sooner replace worn out conical wheels than trucks with ruined axles. I dont skate enough for it to matter, but i think the new tech of recent years is great. Im knocking towards 50 and just wanted to try some freestyle on the popsicle i had. I was very surprised.. i fitted some bones red and spacers and the nanocubics (all from Vandem Longboards down your way). I was surprised how freely they spun, whilst locked up tight, no play. A proper good bit of precision that is. I don’t mind paying for Powell Peralta… i feel theyve give plenty to the sport/art/whatever 😉

    75 bucks for wheels with a "tecnology" that NOBODY of u guys has ever seen, neither the patent neither the "real Tech" behind that (if theres even any new tech, i doubt it). xD 75 bucks for wheels lmafo nah buddy, i more likely get then a set titanium ceramics and a set of 97A/95A Classics and i have the exact same feeling ;) But hey, Andy good job, get rich buddy <3 Amazing Skater u are!

      The main thing that draws me to them is the fact that the wheel nuts are not exposed so they last longer. I had to buy a new set of trucks because I couldn’t get my wheel bolts back on and I think it could help us save money in the long term.

    • @mukamukasector
      @mukamukasector 9 днів тому

      Are you referring to the axle nut? If so you can replace those for literal cents, wdym you had to buy a new set of trucks? That’s like buying a new car when the check engine light comes on.
