Bringing A Family Heirloom Harley Back to the Road
Bringing a Family Heirloom Harley Back to the Road
Ever dreamt of uncovering a legendary “barn find” motorcycle? Well, this wasn’t quite a barn, but the find? Oh, it’s legendary. I took a road trip upstate to help my cousin bring home a vintage Harley treasure that’s been sitting in the family like some rare artifact. Picture this: a bike designed by Erik Buell himself, with that unmistakable Harley rumble, and enough “mystique” to make even the purest Harley fan wonder if it’s too cool for school.
Now, here’s where you come in-can you guess what this bike is? I’ve dropped some clues throughout the video, from its air-cooled, V-twin engine (cue the thunderous soundtrack 🎶) to its controversial debut (Harley purists said it looked too Japanese… I know, right?). But the best part? We’re only just getting started. This beauty needs a little TLC: three-hole oil change, fresh spark plugs, new tires, and a carb clean-up. Once we’ve checked all these off, it’ll be time to see what this legend is really made of.
So, buckle up, drop your guesses below, and don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe for updates on its epic comeback journey. Spoiler: you’ll want to stick around for this one!
Think you’ve cracked the code? What’s your best guess on the bike’s model, or do you have any wild “barn find” stories of your own? Let’s hear ‘em in the comments!

Welcome to another exciting episode of "Ride N Reviews," where today, I take the 2024 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Limited for a spin at a Harley demo day! Things started off great - I was cruising along, feeling like the king of the road, when suddenly... well, let’s just say I had an unexpected pit stop to help a fellow rider in need. 😅 After that little roadside adventure, I may or may not hav...

@@5CYPH3R I expect nothing less!
Hi !! Nice video! Simple but effective!! Real question: how many times have you used this tent? I want to buy one, but I don't know if a will will make it profitable! Thanks
@smekride hey! So I've used the tent about 20-30 times. Mainly when I do my Cross-Country motorcycle trips. To be honest, because it is pricey, it depends on how often you go camping to warrant buying the tent. In terms of quality, it's worth every penny! But if you don't camp enough, you may feel the purchase isn't worth it. For the times I've used it, I've considered it worth the buy
@ thanks for your reply !
@@smekride no problem man. Good luck!
Hard to hear you.
@@JPDispatch I'm sorry about that. Unfortunately, I don't have an external mic. That's GoPro's internal mic. I promise I'll do better with drowning out the background noise 🤙

@ludoviclaflamme9578 Boy, do we wish to have it all🤣 beauty and beastly power...lol

No stopping on a demo bike

NOT A 2024
That IS a ‘24. The limited models are what he was riding. The Road Glide and Street Glide standard models have the new fairings and dash, just an FYI.
@@mikecollins7222 oh that’s right they did that to have (trick) ppl into buying old style before the new style release. Forgot about that. Thanks for enlightening me.
You definatly did the right thing stopping. It dont matter if it is a new bike, a old bike, a rebel bandana wearing biker, a Can-Am Spyder, black, white, yellow or blue. You always stop to help a fello biker. However, next time. Call them and let them know.
Yeah, I realized that after the fact. I’m sure things would have gone differently. I was too focused on his well-being and keeping him company that it slipped my mind to call the dealer
Sometimes you just gotta lie 😂 shoulda said you got lost
They have GPS on the bikes, they knew he wasn’t lost.
Sometimes doing the right thing isn’t the most fun thing to do 💪🏽
Because they are happy for everyone that stops by
if you do a demo at Sturgis they don't give a shit what you do.
Some of them I feel are in lala land when you demo a bike and ride away. But, hey, I guess as long as it comes back in one piece
Just like I said in the last video I watched where crushed bricks cost more than a shit ton of plaster for a natural look, why are people so fucking stupid!? Being kicked out for helping someone who's broken down!? What the absolute fuck!?
Rest easy that you did the right thing. There can be an exception to most rules, the Demo Guy could have had you verify your story with a look at the video. So much for the "Brothers of the Road"- Lifestyle BS that HD tries to sell. If you want to ride an American Bike head straight to your Indian Dealer and don't look back.
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words! I'm happy the biker got home safely, and nothing bad happened. I'll take that over being able to ride the rest of the day any day
To just automatically go "Shouldn't have done that, you're done for the day". Dudes having a power trip.
He just didn't have the context I had about the situation. He just sees a random guy coming back with one of their bikes WAY OVER the time limit. So, it doesn't look good on my part. Although I explained what happened and what I did, he told me I was done for the day. Unfortunately, I put him in a tough position to make that call given I didn't call them ahead of time. Oh well, at least the biker I stopped for is okay! 👌
I think if you called it may have gone differently it might just seem like a red flag to them
Absolutely! I agree with you. Things most likely would have turned out differently had I called. But, unfortunately I didn’t. These are the repercussions i had to bear. At the end of the day I’m happy our fellow biker got home safely.
@@ShiftNSmiles Yeah 100% just a live and learn moment and I can see how it’d be easy not to think about it when looking out for someone else. Definitely better to stop and not call than not stop at all
@@drawwithigmm1885 I appreciate you're understanding! If you ride, please ride safe✌🏿
Aren’t bikers supposed to help each other. This is why nobody like Harley guys
They are! It’s like an unspoken rule. Which is why I helped out. At the end of the day my man was taken care of and not left stranded. So, morally, I’m happy
Thats crazy man. No good deed goes unpunished eh?
Rules are rules. 🤷🏾♂️
No. What rule says specifically not to help a stranded possibly having an emergency motorist? And if they do have a rule saying that, this guy needs to challenge n sue. Unlawful rule if there is one. But there isnt.
Sue for what?
To help clear up the air, I got kicked out for keeping the bike too long. That’s fair. I didn’t call them to let them know I was helping someone else out which is my fault. If I did, I’d imagine things would have ended out differently. Their impression (without knowing I was helping a fellow stranded biker) was “maybe the bike is stolen/something bad happened?” Which I understand. So I’m not mad, I’m just bummed out is all! But I appreciate you all keeping up with the content and having a conversation with each other.
@TheboiiIsFunny again no rule was specified and therefore no rules were broken. So I would sue. Unless there are specified terms (ie time limit) and he didn't call when over, then that's different. But the video looks like dude got booted for helping someone
@scaggit literally the guy that made this video said he kept the bike too long. These are timed scheduled RIDES , you test different bikes out , so by keeping it too long messes up the schedules for other riders. This isn't hard to comprehend child. Why are you making things up is the bigger problem here.
I don't understand?
heh?

Can you hear the speaker pretty good? I wear a full face helmet and ride a straight piped Sportster..or would you rather have helmet speakers?
"True duals" exhaust setup
HMMM...That's a great questions. So I have stock exhausts and I can hear the speaker clearly. When I get to about 60mph (w/o a windshield) then it starts to get distorted because of the wind (inaudible at 80mph). With a windshield, it starts to get distorted around 70mph (inaudible around 90mph). Id imagine, since you have a straight piped Sportster, it will be clear up until maybe 50mph or less because the exhaust is going to overpower the noise of the speaker. At that point, i would much rather listen to the music through my Cardo headset so its a lot clearer. Otherwise you'd have to keep the RPM's low so as not to drown out the sound of the speaker. I hope that answers your question.
@@ShiftNSmiles hey thanks for getting back with me I think I'll just go with the cardo I was looking into that then I seen you video and had to ask
@dalton1068 no problem man! Thanks for asking. I can give you more information on the comm system I have? It's the Cardo Packtalk Edge

@@ShiftNSmiles 100% bro ride safe my man
I bought one. Pros: It has plenty of power, the suspension does well off-road, and it handles the twistie well. CONS: There is no electric windshield, backlit controls, or alarm. It only lowers the rear wheel in adaptive mode, and the jiffy stand is a joke. If you're not careful, it will only deploy halfway. The handguards are also a joke; they pop off the grips a little too easily. It's definitely a BA bike and is easy to ride. The cons were not a deal breaker, but I also had another HD for a trade-in.
@mrloftybreez1503 I appreciate the feedback man. I'm to hear that about the bike. I hope it was still enjoyable, nonetheless. Did you do anything to take care of the handguards and grips to make it more comfortable?
