Hi, love your video of Simplisafe devices. One question I have is does SS have a combination smokie/carb. monox. detector or just 2 separate devices. Actually I have a second question for you. If one smokie detects smoke, can it make the other 4 or 5 smokies sound in my house? Can it be set up to do that. I'd appreciate the answers to these Q's if you would know them. Thx very much. Wayne

Are existing hard-wired smoke detectors compatible with the Simplisafe system?
CONFLICT of information, unless it's over my head? @ 2:00, he says glass sensors are "the most worthless pieces of equipment", He further states that criminals don't break glass to climb in, but will break glass to reach in and open a door or window to open it, soooo why wouldn't a glass sensor pick up the breaking of the glass when criminal is reaching in to open the door or window? Potetional of glass break not detected is higher than going with a door contact instead much better reliability. Choosing door contact over glass break all day any day

I just saw a video it’s my first day and I was like wait it works with 23? Would this idea make ssh lesser priority of security if it were connected to Port 23? Would that make it obsolete if it were possible?

I used to have simplisafe, but in December they sent me a new module, and it's no link to dispatcher, they sent me a new base station.... still not working. I don't have my personal wifi or internet. When I purchased simplisafe was not required to have it, they told me will work on cellular 100%. Now it's not working. Any advice or input will be greatly appreciated!

Great info. and good presentation. If you have wired smoke detectors installed and you put in 1 simplisafe smoke detector, when a wired smoke is activated will it set off simply safe smoke detectors. Trying not to put all new simplicity safe smoke detectors in the house if not needed. Thanks

What if you don’t have a door bell?

There are a couple of ways to remedy the situation but the easiest is to buy a plug in device that is essentially an automatic transformer. It is available on Amazon and there are videos on UA-cam. Ohmkat Video Doorbell Power Supply has been recommended, especially for the SimpliSafe system. There are different voltages required for different doorbells, video doorbells, etc. and apparently this device is highly recommended for SimpliSafe. All you need is a regular home power outlet somewhere near where you are going to place your doorbell. Drill a hole, connect the two wires to the video doorbell and then plug the transformer into the outlet and you now have a powered doorbell where there was no power before. I ordered one and it is supposed to arrive today or tomorrow. I didn't realize SimpliSafe did not have a wireless doorbell. Hopefully this will work just fine. If not I will have to send the video doorbell camera back.

No you cannot. They run on battery only.

Doorbells operate on very low voltage and can be wired hot and barehanded. A doorbell transformer steps down the 120 or 240-volt AC electrical power to a lower voltage. Older models typically use 8 to 20 volts of electricity -- most often 16 volts -- while newer models take 24 volts of electricity. All are AC. Less than 30 VAC is generally considered not hazardous.

"One wire on one side, one wire on the other side." Is there no positive / negative? It doesn't matter which wire goes to which side?
It's Alternating Current (AC). Either wire to either terminal.
