The trials and tribulation of dealing with insurance carriers
After 14 years of chronic low back pain and sciatica and doctors telling me i didnt have anything i finally got diagnosed with Si Joint dysfunction. Will be getting an Si Joint injection this upcoming Monday. I really hope i can get surgery for this. Sometimes the pain goes through the roof and no one believes me.
TY, I face SI joint fusion on June 19, 2024
I'm 2 weeks post-op, and I still have all of the symptoms(burning in the buttucks, leg, and groin and knawing pain). I have an HX of other lumbar fusions. I was told that I would wake up feeling immediate pain relief. I am hopeful that this will change soon, as I'm feeling helpless and hopeless. Is anyone else not having relief, and is this to be expected early on?
Are you signed up to the pathology Facebook group?
Thank you
Do you have any noticeable mobility issues since the fusion.
How you doin these days?
I’m so thankful I found u. I’m on day 6 post op. Experienced pinching pain today and now I’m scared I did something wrong. Thank u for sharing this.
Hi Neil, You’re right, videos on recovery aren’t to be found. Yours are the only ones I have found so far. I don’t know if you’ll get this message but i’m hoping you will so I can ask you a few questions regarding post recovery.
Thank you for the content. I’m going thru this in a month.
Wishing you the best of luck. Best advice I can give you is to follow your PT's instructions to the letter, no more, no less
Did the surgery relieve your si pain?
A good part of it yes but I continue to have pain from other issues
Day 9 of SI joint fusion. I am in extreme pain when I try to stand/walk. No narcotics work well for my body, and that stress me out more. I just hope getting this surgery wouldn't be something I regret
You will not regret it and it will get easier. Ice and whatever OTC pain relievers you tolerate best will be your friends. if the pain is that bad, consult with your surgeon as to alternative pain management strategies. Stay strong....You GOT this
It’s been a few months for me I’m in alor of pain still n I’m personally frustrated at this point and sad.
Neil, I'm going in for surgery this March 29, 2022. What kind of a walker did they specify for one week after surgery, I've heard that I cannot bear weight on my leg at all for one week. My walkers have rollers and I must bear some light pressure on leg in order to move. Thank you for your help
I am watching toconfirt myself. Hell. I dignosis myslef that i have that problem
I also had si joint fusion three pin. Three weeks and still on walker How long before I can walk without assistance and pain free
I've been suffering with pain for 10 years..... I've had an l4l5 fusion and now the si joint fusion to be done sometime in the future, getting my 2nd injection tomorrow, I cant imagine this surgery actually helping me, I can't wait I just can't do it right away because of some other life issues that need addressed first. Thanks for the video chatty 👌🏻😁 my nickname is gabby.
How are you doing now ?
I am currently 48 hours post op. Your videos have helped me reassure myself that I will get through this. One day at a time.
You got this Jess!!!
@@geekguy45thanks for doing these videos. How are you doing now? I've needed this surgery for 6 yrs but work comp is a nightmare. Still waiting for approvals
You're right. There's hardly any information out there on what to expect.
Can I ask your age and if you had both sides done at the same time.
I was 56 when the surgery took place and had just the left side done
@@geekguy45 great I go next Thursday for both sides. I have Severe Scoliosis and am 43. Can't walk, stand, lay in a bed, nothing for the past 5-6 years.
I'm wondering if arm crutches would be better than the walker
The true key is DONT FALL...the walker provided me with the most stability. Wishing you the best of luck
@@geekguy45 I fall now bcz my left leg is 1½" shorter than my right! 🤦♀️
Thank you, it’s hard to find videos of recovery this far out.
Hi Neil. Thanks for posting up your video. You’re correct when you say there isn’t much out there on this. The iFuse surgery still isn’t recognized by NYS Worker’s Comp and what a pain it was to get is approved. I was misdiagnosed by 8 different doctors, and was 2 weeks away from having an unnecessary laminectomy by a neurosurgeon who dismissed my thought of my problem being an SI Joint. Thankfully I was referred to my a surgeon who diagnosed the SI Dysfunction at the last minute. I had the iFuse surgery on 6/1/20 and tomorrow I will be 5 weeks out. I’m still not feeling great. Every time I move around without a cane I feel like someone is clubbing me in the lower back. I’m not sure if it’s because I am rolling into my left side at night (surgical side) or because I am moving around to much during the day. I have been in my pool doing some exercises my doctor suggested I do but at this point I’ve become extremely frustrated as I think I should be feeling better by now. I am able to get in and out of bed, get my shoes and socks on, although the left side isn’t easy to do. This has just been a frustrating process. I really want to get on with my life because I am over 3 years into this ordeal. Just curious to see how you are feeling these days and if what I am experiencing is something you’ve experienced too. Thanks Neil! Jim
Did it get better? I'm 3.5 wks post-op and having pain the last few days since started walking again. Had spinal fusion prior and I'm hoping it's not effecting the si joint fusion.
Thank you so much for doing this video series! This will help when I get my surgery - it makes it more real and it seems like maybe I can do this!
Hi Neil - I just found your videos and all I can say is a big Thank you! I have been suffering for 5 years with what I now know is sacroiliac pain - anyway I'm going through the exact same thing - my surgeon has now recommended ifuse - is that the method you had done? Anyway I too had a successful si injection that only lasted a week, and when they scheduled my second one insurance wouldn't approve it right away - its ridiculous - I'm in pain and it was pushed off - anyway I had my second injection in October - lasted almost a month. Getting a medial branch block for some facet issues in my lumbar - then ifuse - so nervous - I'm so glad I found your videos because nobody posts si fusion recovery! Thank you!
