Anthony Perkins The Tin Star (Anthony Mann, 1957)
Переглядів 52 тис.13 років тому
Sheriff Ben Owens (Anthony Perkins) confronts Bart Bogardus (Neville Brand). What a climax!!! "What do you need? A little persuasion?"
Henry Fonda practiced over and over to hit those targets in the 🎥 On of my favorite western actors . 12 angry men .
Not "Friendly Persuasion"!
CREDITS: TM & © Paramount (1957) Cast: Henry Fonda, Anthony Perkins, Neville Brand Director: Anthony Mann Producer: William Perlberg, George Seaton Screenwriter: Joel Kane, Dudley Nichols, Barney Slater

Slow draw!
0:55 is such a fantastic shot
One of the best Westerns ever
ATTA boy Sheriff, Earp slap him
Recently saw this movie😊👍 loved it! Anthony Perkins in this last fight scene is great up against the loud mouth bully😂
Perkins could be convincing as a timid Sheriff, but as this, finally assertive lawman, he is less so.
I agree. The film's heart is in the right place, maybe a bit saccharine though, the evolution from timid to more seasoned and confident sheriff is more contrived than believable.
@@timj9418 I have to disagree within the context of the film. He was strong with fonda behind him for most of the movie. He had the skills to become a assertive lawman but he lacked the confidence as said earlier. Killing brands character assures the viewer now knows he can do the job but the rest will take time and experience for now he has seen his ability and has the confidence to rely on it and his judgment. Perkins did good for what we see as a viewer.
@@MoneyMakingMitchNY I'd go further and say he didn't have the skills either, as demonstrated by the "target practice" scene by the stream. The town, quite literally, just picked the first man to step up and volunteer who wasn't Bogardus, and it was Ben. He wasn't going to last a month and I think they all knew it. The only reason he survived at all was because Hickman _happened_ to show up, and Ben was able to use him as a "crutch" for his inexperience and lack of assertiveness when he was forced to confront his enemies as sheriff. The doctor knew this and didn't trust Hickman, but died before he could further investigate (or before he could even enjoy his birthday, which really sucked)
People asking, why no sequel? Because after fonda and new wife left town in their horse drawn buggy. A big fat 🎯 Bullseye is what he left on the new inexperienced sheriff. Every gunslinger looking to make his bones from all directions rode to town. The young sheriff didn't make.
Every frame of this film is gorgeous ! Anthony Mann was a superb visual stylist and he thrived in black and white.
I love this film. It's a real classic. It gets some good coverage in the book More Than a Psycho: The Complete Films of Anthony Perkins. Anthony Mann made these character-driven, psychological westerns into an art form. Here's a link to the book, if you're interested: www.amazon.com/Psycho-Complete-Films-Anthony-Perkins/dp/1717101542/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=more+than+a+psycho+perkins&qid=1562365990&s=gateway&sr=8-1
Neville Brand was terrifying in Riot in cellblock 11 and was menacing William Holden in Stalag 17!!! Great actors!! Perkins and Fonda are ok!! Brand is my all time favorite!! real life WWII war hero!!
I always thought that Neville Brand actually looked rather soft with a beard. He's only man who looked tougher when he was clean shaven.
Well done, Ladies!
Brava 🎼🌷🌷🌷🌷🎼
Anthony Perkins was so beautiful..... breaks my heart to think of how he left this world. May her rest in peace.
So true see his movie at 02.00 at the night and make me want to find who was he ,may god rest his in peace
you mean his soul
My god, he was hot..
One of the best films ever....
Wanna end up like Bogardius some day.
Getting shot???
One of my favorite movie scenes ever. Jimmy Stewart has that powerful screen presence.
BUY the boxed set. It's worth it.
Great pick. This is one of the great showdown scenes. It's hushed up because too many modern directors are envious of it, and don't want to be compared to it. The direction here is phenomenal.
Neville Brand portrayed Al Capone in the TV series The Untouchables. He was terrifying-what a performer!
Anthony Perkins + Henry Fonda was such a good team in this flick :-)
I watched this movie yesterday evening in college, and we stopped it at this moment! I want to see the minutes that are unseen.
Ha! I shared this with my daughter when she was young and after that scene, all she could say was "Whoa!".
